Just had a conversation about how disappointing episode 3 was with soneone at work and it made me think of something i hadnt previously. Do you guys that Dan and Dave really thought they would finish this series without source material to draw from all the way to the end? The popular belief, and i think even GRR said that he planned to have the books done before the show finished, was that they would adapt it as they wanted. Do you think it was a realization like, oh shit now we have to come up with something?

But I've read that George told them how the books were going to end so they can stick to it.

This season could not be any more rushed. Absolutely no reason for this season to be 6 episodes. A 10 episode season could have been greatly utilized. Season 8 has been so bad i don't think it's salvageable.

Season 8 has been so bad i don't think it's salvageable. I agree that is rushed. They are trying to tie up every character driven lose end. You can definitely feel the difference between this and the previous seasons. Especially the early ones. But people are eating it up. Aside from the complaints about the big battle being so dark, the majority seems to be loving the show. Even with my little complaints, I wouldn't call it trash. Enjoying it myself for the most part.

I thought the animosity/resentment growing between Dany and Jon is going to be the ultimate climax of the show. The daggers she was staring at Jon at the party and him immediately breaking his promise to her. Maybe I was just triggered, but I feel like we've all gotten that look from a woman when having a good time with friends in her presence.

They are suggesting that she will lose it and turn into her father. But it's kind of expected, which probably means she will do something completely different.

I have a hard time believing there's going to be a "happily ever after" ending, but maybe that's the twist.

Up until the moment she goes full mad queen I thought she was just playing the part to learn who she could trust etc, using the fear to get her way but deep down knew it was wrong and would listen to John and Tyrion but the more she was betrayed the more she was forced into this through raw emotion! Years of pain and hurt just came out and bang... the blood started flowing and with it all the hatred came out and it took over...

No need to beat a dead horse. I share many of the concerns and disappointments as the rest of you. Letting the show get out ahead of the books was never going to bode well. And it's been difficult and awkward at times. The first hour of the last episode was near unwatchable hollywood action scene keyboard sound effects generic battle shots. But then the subversion . . . was excellent. It's what I came for, what I've come back for 8 seasons for. The liberating heroes are all raping and pillaging and Dani is taking the throne with fire and blood and the evil Lanister forces are rushing innocents into shelter, brave Jon Snow is an overpowered helpless bystander to it all, and Cersei dies at her own hand, so to speak, by her own deeds, and has no justice dealt to her but the unfolding of her own actions. Excellent subversion. And now, after 8 years of build up about this fucking throne . . . we move into the final episode ever and . . . there's no fucking throne left. As bad and off-key as some of the motivations and writing have been, the larger themes remain brilliant and captivating. Not sure if that makes me more or less disappointed.

Arya kills Dany tonight. Book it.
My longshot is that she uses Jon's face to do it.

Jon got the best ending.
He didn't want to be king. He wanted to go with Tormund.
Now he gets to, he isn't rejoining the Nights Watch and Bran knew what would happen. He gets to live with his best friend, his dog, and people that see him as a hero.
He's gonna fuck redhead wildling pussy for the rest of his days. Based.
Plus the show implies that the North was only a winter hellscape because of the White walkers. It'll probably clear up and be paradise for the guy.
King Beyond the Wall: Jon Snow.

Has anyone heard at least a half decent explanation for where all the Unsullied and Dothraki came from? The Dothraki were wiped out at winterfell along with the Unsullied..but now there are more of them than ever? Also, where did the Dothraki go?
