So I guess you don't have high hopes for the next one?

So I guess you don't have high hopes for the next one? Eh, I'm still holding out hope, but I wouldn't be shocked if it isn't great........and that's if it even ever comes out

It's very focused on certain characters and devoid of others. Many consider it the least thrilling of the series, myself included. Power through it as you do need to understand the Iron Islands and it's still entertaining. Does drag a bit in parts. I can spoil it and tell you that certain characters storylines are never mentioned in this book though - you have to wait for a Dance with Dragons to revisit them. PM me if you want to know. Ill power through it. I've gotten through 3 books in just about a month. So this one should only take me a week or so.
Curious though, how do book readers rank the books thus far?
Same as PatSox Book 3: A Storm of Swords Book 1: Game of Thrones Book 2: A Clash of Kings Book 5: A Dance with Dragons Book 4: A Feast for Crows I really liked book 5. I found book 4 the big outlier and the other 4 were awesome, IMO.

I'm not saying that the ranking of the books would necessarily change. However, I like aFfC a lot more the second (and third) times through the series.

I'm just about half way through the book now. Its not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think its just a drop off from how great the first 3 were. Yea, its slower. Seems like its MUCH more descriptive.

I honestly felt like Dany's time in the "Red Waste" was about 20 chapters long the first time through. I was almost dreading it on a re-read, then realized it wasn't actually that long. If anything, her journey seems to meander around the most through aFfC and aDwD.

That's been my least favorite story line of the books. Brienne's search for Sansa may surpass it though by the end of the book. My favorite storyline of the book is Arya. Which is ironic because it was my least favorite in the show.

Which is ironic because it was my least favorite in the show. I really liked Arya's story in the show, about half the time Season 1 and 2? Really good Season 3? Mostly boring Season 4? Awesome Season 5 and 6? Boring Season 6 finale through season 7? Mostly awesome, with a bit of Sansa and Arya bickering in between

So I am just about halfway through the last book, and I'm digging it. So the next book, looks like it was mostly covered in the last season of the show right? Should we expect anything new in the next book??

I guess I should just finish the book and that may answer my question. 4. The Red Sox Payroll will be higher then the Yankees next season.

1. I'm honest. 2. No one knows. The big man may go in a different direction but given he collaborates with the show creators/writers, we can assume the story arch is similar. 3. Not really. The show has story archs like Brienne that totally differ from the book, so we would be guessing at a lot of what the new book will offer. The show writers do know the end game for the series so maybe the book will offer only subtle differences. I would assume the season we watched would similar to the next book. 4. About time you stopped paying Arod.

DWD has to be the most disappointing book in the entire series to me. I have about 200 pages or so left. I actually enjoyed FFC much more.

Don't know if I have ever shared these, but they are great videos that will focus solely on one character, and proceed to go through every scene they are in, in order. They have a video for pretty much every character with over 20 min of time that's in the show.

I definitely try to say optimistic. I've read through the blog and comments. I usually keep up with the blog, don't always read through the comments.
6 or so months ago he's hoping to release at least Fire and Blood, or TWoW in 2018. The actually quote was something like 'hopefully 1, possibly 2/both'. I think the confirmation that F&B is coming down the pipe is not necessarily detrimental to the release of TWoW.
I read on the westeros board who break it down a lot better than I do. However, by their measure F&B gets the normal publication speed, and whenever TWoW is completed it will be a massively rushed and compressed timeline. Therefore, even the completion dates are not necessary indicative of how far apart they will actually come out.
Stay posi! 8-9 Years ago, my buddy joked that his 1 year old son will finish the books before him. That honestly looks likely now. He'll be 16-17 (maybe older) and many of us will be closing in on 50 yrs old in this thread clamoring for A Song of Summer or Spring or whatever it is and still speculating on an 8th book.

Really you were able to read about this on westeros dot org before they froze or deleted it? Those hypersensitive, Martin worshipping fucking weirdos

There is a thread called the Official TWoW something or other thread that is pinned in one section. Always tightly limited to actual GRRM comments and discussion of thos updates. Other random sources and personal speculation are shutdown or dispersed to other areas.

Took 55 days to shoot a single battle for the final season. The previous longest shoot was roughly 30 days for each of the Battle of the Bastards and the Train Loot battle.

The story also named the location of the battle. Sort of a spoiler. I've been avoiding spoilers and speculation. Especially considering people could be running with fake leaks, or shit people just made up But my guess is the big battle this season takes place directly in King's Landing. My prediction since last season ended was that everyone gathers in the North, but it's all for not. As the Night King takes his army straight down the coast to King's Landing, where the're a million people to turn. Cersei has to beg for help and everyone rides south to save the capital and square off with the White Walkers and Wights Could be dead wrong on that. But if I'm right, it will perfectly set up some things. Like Daenerys walking into a blown apart thrown room, with snow falling, like in her vision; Jaime killing Cersei, probably when she makes it clear she's going to set off the rest of the wild fire under King's Landing to kill the Walkers, and everyone else; The Hound fighting The Mountain, probably in sync with Jaime trying to get to Cersei to stop her; Jon, the prince that was promised, being in King's Landing at the end. And probably more that I'm not thinking of right now

Apprently a producer made a post thanking the crew for the hard work filming this long battle scene. He gave out the filming location....which is a known location for previous scenes. So people figured out that the battle takes place in this location instead of this other location. I wont say where.....but you can figure out it takes place in this location instead of there. Giving away that the army of the dead goes here instead of there.
