Luckily we are the most alcohol friendly state in the country (even though KC is a bit of a bitch to breweries), and as of January 1st the most gun friendly too. What a combo. But luckily the lax laws means we have access to craft brews from around the world sooo much easier than most places. On top of that our local bar owner has some great connections. He gave me a bottle of Stickee Monkee for free earlier this year, and there were only 2 cases sent to Missouri and he got his hands on half of one.

Found a local brew called Rough Tail that makes 5-6 different brews. Wheat Dreams is my current selection and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Flavorful, strong, just sliiiiiightly bitter enough to know you're drinking craft beer, but not overpowering.

Trying to decide what to drink while watching 205. I may open up a bottle of 2015 Bourbon county stout, but I'm thinking I'm not quite in the mood for a big boozy stout tonight, so I may go with Pumking. I just can't drink like I used to.

I have to drink pretty light on 6-7 hour fight runs or I won't remember shit

Yeah, my recovery abilities have greatly diminished. I had my 20th high school reunion last Saturday. Had a few drinks, nothing out of control, but felt like crap the next morning. Drinking really does take practice, lol. my new book, drinking: tips, tricks, and donts. - by da bear.

Opened a bottle of Perennial's 17 mint chocolate stout last night. It had been sitting in my cabinet since March. Very smooth.

Yeah, a lot of people are pissed off Karbach sold to AB. On the plus side, rumours are InBev are gonna let them run almost autonomously like they did with Goose Island. Anyways, I'm trying to think of a new cocktail to make on Thanksgiving. Every year we aim at a new mixed drink each holiday to make and drink all day. So far we've done Blackberry Brambles (amazing), Brandy Alexanders, and a few others. Right now I'm leaning towards a negroni but adding in some of a sweetened cranberry simple syrup

Yeah, a lot of people are pissed off Karbach sold to AB. Yeah, I know. It sucks but I can sort of see it from both sides. I heard Hay Merchant won't even be serving it anymore.

Eh, they don't seem to get more of an operating budget, just a new distribution system and resources to take care of getting access to other states. IMO though there isn't much need for what InBev offers anymore since the distribution issue for craft breweries are decreasing every month. The big thing is basically just the lawyers handling the paperwork. But yeah the buyout paycheck is nice, but wouldn't do it in that case unless got to keep some equity in the company.

It's a tough call. I mean, Karbach, for example, was probably as big as they could possibly be in Houston and surrounding cities. Do you sell out while you're big or risk it and hope to stay a "trendy" craft beer? I have thought about this one and find myself on the fence.
