As acting Water Cooler monitor, I do think this deserves its own thread.
My own first comment is echos OCMMAFan's. How can you not get a case of beer into casinos without getting the stank eye, but you can get rifles and ammunition in easily and undetected? (12pack dirty looks is because they want you to buy everything from them for you room at ridiculous prices).
My other comment is basically still WTF at this point.

Also, the inevitable gun law questions (Comrade), its pretty likely that these weapons violated existing gun laws (if it truly was automatic gun fire).

Did anybody else read that this guy was a 'professional' gambler who had tried to sue a casino on The Strip for negligence before agreeing to drop the lawsuit? Could it be as simple as somebody who blamed Vegas for his woes and decided to lash out at the city as a whole?

Also, how was this not an act of terrorism? Does this not fall into the category of “any act that involves the use or attempted use of sabotage, coercion or violence which is intended to cause great bodily harm or death to the general population”? www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-202.html#NRS202Sec4415So why isn't anybody calling this guy a terrorist?

Mandalay Bay has A+ security so they have footage of everything and they keep the tapes. This isn't a liquor store hold up where they only go back 24 hours. So I will do a little wait and see. Show the public the footage of this guy making multiple trips to his room with "equipment" so we can see the timeline of how/when he kept bringing it in. If they come back and say that somehow this surveillance footage is unavailable, or cannot be released, then my spock eyebrow will stay raised. Ammunition is heavy as fuck so let's hear some more about this arsenal he got into the room.
They seem pretty quick to conclude he acted alone. That's coming from the FBI - why do we need to make that claim a few minutes after they arrive?
It's a terrible, tragic event. The dude went sniper from an elevated position with automatic weapons - he's shooting fish in a barrel. I'll give it a week and then we will have more than our kneejerk reactions based on partial info.

Ok, so I'll go ahead and give my instant, knee-jerk reaction...False Flag...
and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the guns from Obama's "Fast and Furious" project were used in this attack...
How long did hildozer wait to make an anti gun speech???
Although I'm sure it was just a solo gunman who was fed up with Muslims and immigration, right?....

He didn't have anything to do with Isis but he was definitely connected with antifa.
His Facebook page was also connected to a number of anti Trump Facebook pages.
This is a left-wing lunatic acting on behalf of his left-wing lunatic ideology.
It will not surprise me in the least bit if there are continued attacks from left-wing lunatics which are basically serving two ends.
Continue to try and convince people that gun control is more necessary in this country to prevent Terror attacks ( pay no attention to the city behind the curtain known as Nice, France, because we would hate to remind you that guns are not necessary to accomplish terrorist attacks.
Don't look at Oklahoma either.
Or where the World Trade Center used to be.
Or...no nevermind just stop looking at everything and understand that guns are to blame for it all.)
And that we DESPERATELY need the government to protect us from all of these bad people, so we should stop giving good people the ability to defend themselves.
When I was in high school my friends and I used to have debates over who you would least like to tangle with. Most of my friends were scared of gangsters. But I was always more afraid of rednecks, because gangsters hold their guns sideways and never hit a damn thing that they're aiming at. But a redneck will blow your head off in the first shot.
Now it's more like who's crazier? Right-wing lunatics? Or left-wing lunatics?
Answer to that is that they're both equally insane. But who's more dangerous?
Right-wingers tend to be more in the line of thinking that they just want people to leave them alone so that they can live in whatever weird sense of peace they have. And there's probably some racism another stupid shit worked in there. Not exactly someone you'd want to emulate, or even be around.
But left-wingers actually at the very core of their ideology want the government to control every fucking aspect of your life. For the betterment of everyone. As such I think the left-wing is far more dangerous than the right-wing at this point.
And really I think the bird itself just needs to do a barrel roll and shed the craziest feathers on both of its wings.

So some hateful, smug lefty cunt made snide remarks on facebook implying she didn't feel sorry for the republicans shot. Insensitive and dumb, but she an elitist lefty and its the kind of shit Hillary can say and people clap and cheer. Kind of person I despise and would argue with about everything. But jesus - we are sure as fuck ready and chomping at the bit to publicly lynch anyone with a message we disagree with. It's pretty ridiculous. She deleted it and now her life is going to be in turmoil for an off color, dumb facebook post? I think this is part of the problem we all share in. This need to fucking attack, attack, attack something that really isn't a big deal. She has little power - some cunty attorney for CBS. Who gives a fuck? www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/10/02/top-cbs-lawyer-no-sympathy-for-vegas-vics-probably-republicans.htmlCBS has parted ways with one of the company’s top lawyers after she said she is “not even sympathetic” to victims of the Las Vegas shooting because “country music fans often are Republican,” when discussing the tragic mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas late Sunday night. “This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families,” a CBS spokeswoman told Fox News. Hayley Geftman-Gold, the network's now-former vice president and senior counsel, took to Facebook after a gunman opened fire at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas, killing at least 58 people and sending more than 500 others to hospitals. “If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs [sic] will ever do the right thing,” Geftman-Gold wrote in a now-deleted message that was first reported and captured by The Daily Caller. Geftman-Gold continued: “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc [sic] country music fans often are Republican gun toters [sic].” Geftman-Gold is presumably referring to Sandy Hook, which occurred in Newtown, Conn. back in 2012. A 20-year-old gunman, Adam Lanza, killed 20 children and six adults during the tragic event that sparked intense political debates regarding gun control. Geftman-Gold did not work directly with the network’s news division. According to her LinkedIn bio, Geftman-Gold worked at CBS since September 2016 and graduated from the prestigious Columbia University law school in 2000.

why is no one talking about the real issue here? He used a hammer YES A HAMMER to bust out the window before opening fire, how is it that just anyone on the street can go get a hammer with out a background check? This could have been prevented.

What the fuck? This is another symptom of the tribal shit going on right now. I would bet this guy thought (obviously way more extremely) along the same lines as that lawyer and it played some degree in this.
I'm afraid we're going to see more of this, and it is going to affect the regular people of society closer and closer to home. It's not just going to be melee fighting at protests and rallies. The fighting is going to find it's way to where it can't be controlled by the government with police and military. This could potentially be looked at as some of the first shots fired in America's second civil war. My biggest fear has always been an "A Clockwork Orange" dystopia where our government completely turns it's powers on us.
Obviously this is hyperbolic at this point, but it's just crazy and confusing to think about how someone could do this type of thing without being irrationally convicted in something.

infowars has an interview with a concert goer who said a woman warned them about 45 minutes before the shooting started that everyone was going to die. Odd coincidence or did she know something? I predict she ends up like Seth Rich. We need to know who that women is and why she warned people.

Just heard a description of the rooms -- god fuck shit -- chilling.
Two adjoining rooms, each with a shooting platform, a tripod, aprox 10 rifles, and hundreds of rounds. The connecting door between the rooms is blocked open and both exterior doors are bolted and barricaded. Each room has a slightly different vantage point and angle on the concert lot. He moved back and forth between the two rooms using different weapons to fire on different parts of the crowd from different angles, maximizing chaos, pinning people down, and inflicting maximum casualties.
Jason fucking Bourne shit.
How do you get 19 rifles, two tripods, and 300+ rnds of ammo past Vegas casino security? How do you pass 30 FBI background screens and still have the mental volatility to do something this crazy? How do you have a $400,000 home, 4 rental properties, retirement, travel, girlfriend, wealth, and still do something this crazy?

Seen what was happening in Spain? The footage from the independence vote in Spain last weekend was fucking demoralizing. If you ever thought, because we've had it so easy, that freedom is just something that happens and not something that you have to, periodically, fight to the death to preserve and restore, refreshing the tree of liberty from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants, I'd encourage a quick google of the Madrid vote. Hey, we all want to leave the country and form our own independent state. "Ok, how about I beat you unconscious with SWAT teams and riot police and then throw all your votes in a dumpster?" Yes, in 2017, in progressive, enlightened Europe, it's happening.

But one last note on the Spain thing (it can go back to watercooler), they are "allies" with Basque country who also want independence and are basically right next to each other, but they happen to be armed better than the response teams that shut down the voting.

Do some places run a check for each individual weapon even if buying multiple at same time? I also thought I read a few of his were private sales so no background check needed.

Yes they only do one check if they are purchased together. The check is going to come back the same no matter how many times you check the background. You can either own one or you can't.

That's what I thought, so it wasn't actually 30. However between hunting license in Alaska (and I'm assuming a purchase there), at least two gun shops that are known of in Nevada, he did pass a few checks though. The more I think about this, the harder it is to take a guess on why he did this. The original social media far-left assumptions of him were falsified by 4chan, no idea what the actual shit is. As Baph pointed out nothing really in his history pointing towards it. A divorce, but it seems like he was over it. Maybe there was something in his lawsuit against the casino that really got to him? Maybe over the last month or two he had an actual psychotic break?

I wonder if amphetemines are going to be discovered. Just a gut feeling... old man moves out to vegas with money, starts taking little pills, spends a month averaging 2 hours of non-restorative sleep a night... begins to break down.
Just saying, shot in dark. I've seen people, basically normal, Spend 5 days awake on crank and be absolutely dangerous

Seems a bit too organized and settled for amphetamines. Also wouldn't you assume they'd find some or evidence of some in the room if he was holed up there for 3 days? That's the kind of news they'd love to release right away, especially with Sessions as AG.... DRUGS MAKE GUY GO BAD
