The incident was reported by the Chronicle Herald on July 25, and John Lott tweeted about the incident on July 31: According to the Herald, “Three men entered the residence with guns and a struggle took place with two men inside.” The two men inside the home managed to take away one of the guns and “several shots were fired as the suspects fled.” One of the suspects was shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Kyle Earl Munroe was arrested and “charged with attempted murder and a raft of firearms offences after helping fend off [the] home invaders, one of whom he’s now charged with shooting.” The precise charges he faces are “attempted murder, intent to discharge a firearm, intent to discharge a firearm when being reckless, careless use of a firearm, improper storage of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing that possession is unauthorized, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.” Public Prosecution Service spokeswoman Chris Hansen stresses, “Right now they’re just pending charges,” but the point is still clear. Namely, that sitting quietly while governments pass more and more gun control is a recipe for disaster, as far as freedom is concerned. Seemingly benign laws like gun storage requirements and trigger lock requirements and more aggressive controls like firearm registration rules and magazine bans all portend a situation where a law-aiding citizen in the U.S. uses a gun in self-defense only to face prosecution for failing to jump through the proper bureaucratic hoops beforehand. Gun controls—regardless of how seemingly minuscule in the bigger picture—pile upon each other and empower criminals while tying the hands of would-be victims. Trump proposing to shift immigration BACK to merit-based immigration, which is what we had for a loooooong time, and people used to immigrate roughly evenly from all over the world, Germany, Poland, Italy, Russia, Asia, France, Ireland . . . but in the past few decades we've switched to an open door policy and now nearly ALL our immigration is from Mexico, is unskilled (1 in 15), and around 50% end up on welfare. We're doing a million immigrants a year, legally. Maybe 50% more illegally. That's completely unsustainable. It also chokes out the high skilled people who used to compete to get in, learn English, bring ingenuity, bring appreciation and enthusiasm, chase dreams. Resentful 3rd world fucks who don't bother to assimilate can get fucked. I ain't trying to become Sweden.

If they do, just like here, you plead a version of self-defense, and walk from it. What he did was illegal, but he did it for the right reasons, it is how the system works even here. David "I may be blind but I love doing coke off of hookers in the bathroom" Paterson before he was Governor of NY tried to hold Cops to the same standard as the citizens and every single year tried to pass legislation that meant when the cop killed someone in the line of duty, they'd be charged with manslaughter so the court would determine if it was a rightful shoot and not people who want to protect their own asses.

Whoever charged him realized this was be controversial and publicly discussed, so they did it intentionally to make a point. That's the unfortunate reality of ideology running smack into reality. You can't be nice and cautious with/to criminals breaking into your home while at the same time making sure you protect yourself/family. I know you agree and most will, at least those that are not hearing and logic impaired. Fortunately, those that believe in protecting criminals with this kind of vigor remain the minority.

If someone breaks into your house, and you shoot them, you are gonna have pending charges of manslaughter (or rather aggravated battery if you don't kill them) at the very least. Then, most likely because of self-defense, castle doctrine, etc... they don't actually press charges. If we didn't function that way, then all someone needs to do is claim someone broke in or the likes of which. Self-defense is exactly that, a defense to a charge.

You do NOT normally have a "pending" charge of manslaughter for killing an intruder you lazy, worthless fucking waste of skin. The DA would have to decide to bring charges and in MOST jurisdictions they would not do it. There is no "presumption of manslaughter" DUMB FUCK. We are innocent until proven guilty, not "charged and then prove we were using self defense". There is no such thing as a "pending" charge, either. They either charge or they do not. And in most cases, in most jurisdictions, in most states, they would NOT charge. You are, as usual, 100% wrong and remain a fucking loser.

Kick my door in, I put holes in you. You cannot sue me because in Maine you cannot sue for events that occurred while you were commiting a felony. Plus you'll be dead, and your family can't sue either. Maine won't charge me either.

And in most cases, in most jurisdictions, in most states, they would NOT charge. You are, as usual, 100% wrong and remain a fucking loser. That was my point! The charges are pending till the DA decides not to file, which 9 out of 10 times they pretty much decide on the scene they aren't going to file. You are confusing an arrest with charges and pending charges. This person in Canada has pending charges (just like you do when you act in self defense in all 50 states here). Their protocols for investigations are just probably more thorough than ours hence the delay on deciding not to file yet. Hey dunderdildo, we do this here in the US, UK, pretty much every western nation already. If someone breaks into your house, and you shoot them, you are gonna have pending charges of manslaughter (or rather aggravated battery if you don't kill them) at the very least. Plus you'll be dead, and your family can't sue either. Maine won't charge me either. You are talking civil law when it comes to suing. And yes, as I pointed out, I can't imagine a single state that would wind up actually pressing charges in such a situation. My point was, as with this Canadian, we do the same thing where we have pending charges until the DA's office decides not to file at the time. Think of Zimmerman before the special prosecutor got involved. He had pending manslaughter charges for something like 10 hours, the police chief along with local DA's office decided that his self-defense claim under Florida's Stand Your Ground statute would have resulted in him being innocent so decided not to file on the pending charges. Whether we like it or not, the state decides the reality of our actions in the confines of our governed society. Just because we say something is self-defense, the government doesn't until it does.

WRONG. This isn't semantics - it's you being an idiot. Their is no "charge purgatory" where they sit pending. This is you making up bullshit that doesn't make any sense.
In Tony's scenario this is exactly how it would unfold. The Sheriff or local PD would show up and find the bullet ridden intruder. They would call a detective or whoever is the duty officer that handles robbery/homicide to the scene. They would interview Tony and most likely determine it a justified shoot. He would NOT be incarcerated or leave in the back of car like George Zimmerman. The detective or LEO would share their report with the DA who would then make a determination on merits. At NO time is their a pending charge. Never. The DA determines it's a justified shoot and Tony is never charged. Ever. Not pending.
By the way, read the 6th amendment.

Oh, and in more Cops Gone Crazy news.. 1. A Baltimore police officer seemingly forgot he was wearing a body cam and got busted planted drugs in a bust. 2. A woman called to report a potential rape behind her house, twice, cops finally show up and shoot her through the passenger window because he heard a sudden noise (her coming out in her pajamas to tell them where the noises were coming from). Not even two weeks later and guess what.... Cops in Baltimore busted planting drugs AGAIN, not realizing a body cam was on. He turned his off to plant the drugs, but one of the other officers accidentally left theirs on.

So the second picture can be argued two ways. You can say my body, my choice and still be for taxing those without insurance and here is how: it can be argued that not having health insurance affects everyone. Just like it is required to have liability insurance for their car, some would say health insurance is liability insurance. IF you choose not to have health insurance and get hit in the dome by person robbing you, end up with a brain bleed, ventilated, and spend 2 months in the ICU. You decided not to have insurance but through no fault of your own you have a 3 million dollar bill that you can't pay. The hospital is out 3 million and now have to make up their losses elsewhere which drives prices up for everyone. Using a deterrent, the government forces you to have insurance and the hospital recoup some losses.

Maybe 2-3 times a week he has a somewhat normal vs 2-3 times a lunatic. But he talks about social issues that are happening now. He has college professors from legit universities on all the time - maybe we can agree they are raving idiots, lol. Can you name a liberal commentator (not talk show host) that is not a raving idiot? Tucker has one of the most popular shows on television so you will NOT see a politician take a chance and debate him. Maxine Waters isn't going live on Tucker Carlson to talk about impeaching Trump because when she starts lying he will put her on the spot. The left has unified to lie collectively but never risk a moment where they can be called out. It's a soundbite party. Hillary in hiding wasn't just the presidential plan, it's a PARTY plan. As for commentators, you'll see the same group of cogent conservatives willing to discuss issues on any show or radio; liberals are the exact opposite. And really, there are very few or actually zero people on the left like a Ben Shapiro, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin who make the rounds to debate. I can't think of any.

I don't care for him, but since it seems you're unfamiliar with his background, I'll chime in. Steven Miller was a student at Duke when the lacrosse players were accused of raping a stripper at a party they threw. It was a horrendous witch hunt (to use the parlance of our times) and was one of the most disgusting displays of misguided "do-gooders" I've seen in my lifetime. Steven Miller was interviewed by national talk shows at the time and was one of a very small handful of people who were standing up for the players. Jay Bilas being another. History proved him quite clearly correct in his stance.

So you're saying we need to end the welfare system that enables and contributes to the crime-culture in the black communities? Because when I look up crime stats like 90 percent of these violent robberies scenarios are perpetrated by blacks... www.amren.com/news/2015/07/new-doj-statistics-on-race-and-violent-crime/www.amren.com/the-color-of-crime/If we lower the percentage for bat wounds to the head, we lower healthcare costs as well. Next we can ban the purchase of soda and other non essential foods with the use of food stamps...eliminating diabetes and obesity that plagues the health system. Now, do you see how ending unearned entitlements should be the first option prior to simply forcing everyone to hand over their money?

How about: car wrecks, heart attacks, cancer, genetic disorders, accidents in general, other heart disease, or stroke? You think you are a healthy something year old and boom, any of those things could happen to any of us without us having the first clue.
