Nervous that the same thing that happened with Kong is happening with Alien Covenant. First trailers looked amazing, dark, violent, very sophisticated, but subsequent trailers are looking goofy, comic relief, cgi shit balls with Kenny Powers and the dude from Step Brothers making dipshit jokes and fighting super fake looking monsters in a generic action flick.

If it ends up being shittier than Prometheus (which I mostly enjoyed, as stated numerous times) and Scott is already committed to 2 more sequels, I will be sad.
Have you guys heard he wants to make a sequel to Gladiator? I shit you not, the script that's been written has the Roman gods resurrecting Russel Crowe's character so he can kill Jesus. But then he decides to fight with the Christians instead....

I hate to say it, but I have very little faith that Justice League isn't going to suck. And this is coming from someone who didn't end up hating BvS as much as I feared I would and actually really liked Suicide Squad, despite how much shit it got. But after seeing that trailer, my fears were just reinforced. And it all stems from Zach Snyder being a fucking lousy director
Style over substance has never been more apparent than with a guy like him. He seems to have all these visual ideas, these cool, epic moments he wants to end up with, without knowing or even caring how to justifiably get there. His movies always end up being flashy mashed together, messes. A collection of moments, that lack good character building and storytelling in between, because all of his focus seems to be on achieving those cool moments, and damn everything else
It somehow worked enough for me, in BvS to where I could forgive it enough to not hate the movie. But man, I did NOT like what I just saw in that trailer and have little faith that he can hold together a movie with all those characters and so much on the line. It seems destined to fail, hard

Totally agree with the Snyder critique and that's far and away my biggest concern going into this. However, I will say . . . . if someone showed me that trailer Justice League trailer I just saw when I was a kid my fucking head would have exploded. Does look like the writers are taking some cues from Marvel with the comic relief and character development. Obviously the visuals will be absolutely stunning. So again, this ALL falls on Snyder's ability to weave together the gripping, smoothly flowing, clever narrative. Every other aspect has been covered.

So again, this ALL falls on Snyder's ability to weave together the gripping, smoothly flowing, clever narrative. Every other aspect has been covered. The problem with a superhero collective movie is there is just no time to really develop characters. what made the avenger series good in this regard (specifically the first one which IMO is the best superhero movie in the last 10 years) is that all of the players had several successful movies already, so you pretty knew their characters modern representations. Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk all had successful, stand alone movies. Even the main antagonist, Loki, was in the Thor movies. They didn't need to spend a ton of time developing those guys. you could argue that hawkeye and black widow were rushed in there (although she had a brief appearance in iron man 2), but they had smaller roles compared to the main players. this justice league movie? yeah, we know this current superman and batman. some familiarity with wonder woman from BvS, but i have no idea about her stand alone movie. did it already come out? had no interest in it so i know very little about her. aquaman? know nothing about this current version. the cyborg dude? never heard of him. flash? again, know nothing about this version. you can set yourself up for snyder to disappoint you, but in this movie, i don't think the possible lack of character development will be his fault. he doesn't have a lot to work with. people want the action scenes from a blockbuster. you can't sacrifice too many of those for character development. he doesn't have the advantage Whedon had when he was handed the avengers and their already developed cast of heroes. i'll still see it and will probably enjoy it. i just won't expect much in the character development area.

I get what you're saying, I just don't know how much water it carries when dealing with characters so deeply embedded into the American pop psyche that our parents and our parent's parents grew up with these icons. They're developed into our DNA. 90% of the inhabitants of planet Earth are familiar with the key players in the Justice League. You don't need to devote a ton of time to development. Superman is literally 85 years old. You just need to be effective, have continuity, and handle the various story lines with grace and balance. Wonder Woman comes out this summer and will be huge, Chris Pine, tease some more characters (Aquaman), and will firmly establish the "Big 3" for Justice League (Bat, Supes, Wonder) all having both stand alone and combined screen time (B vs S) prior to Justice League. You throw Aqua, Flash, and Borg around the edges (Aquaman standalone flick releases next Christmas), not unlike Hawkeye and Widow, and bring in a big bad super boss that makes Loki look like a fucking joke. I would argue that Snyder's been handed the world on a platter.

We are not going to see the same shit about Spider man losing his uncle or grandpa and getting all pissy and becoming spider man? Seems like they're skipping right passed that, this time. Ben died, it sucked, he's been Spiderman for a bit and is already loosely associated with the Avengers and wants to be a full fledged member, but Tony won't let him yet, because he's a kid I think that's all we need to know and if they're smart, they'll spend no more than a few minutes reestablishing all that and then move on with the rest of the film

Hopefully. I feel we just saw that whole mess with Toby and the Andrew and don't want to see it again.

Maybe someone's already mentioned it, but is anyone else as excited as I am for Trainspotting 2?
I loved the first one, and actually I'm pretty sure it comes out tomorrow.
I haven't been to a movie in a long time but I'm gonna be pretty annoyed at myself if I don't get myself out to the theater to see this.
I'm guessing it will be out for a while as it looked to get very good reviews and almost everyone I know who's seen the first loved it.
It doesn't really seem like the kind of movie that could have a sequel with how the first one ended, except for the fact that it was based on a book which did in fact have a sequel, so therefore I'm less skeptical that it will suck and be just another sequel that was made for the sake of it.

There was one really funny one which translates Spud's Scottish accent describing daylight's savings time but I can't find it anymore. But these scenes from the first one were the best: youtu.be/vPKhhne8mCsAnd then of course the bar fight scene with Begbie: youtu.be/FM17pI4o7HgShit, they cut it off before the fight: youtu.be/yx5wj2w68CAAnyways, I'm guessing everyone here has seen the first by now cause if not you need to.

Enjoyed the original quite a bit back in college. The overdose scene and the crawl into the toilet scene were phenomenal. Fun idea here, but not very hyped, frankly.

Trainspotting is considered one of the greatest indie films of all time. Definitely one of my all time favorites. In Bruges is also an exceptional indie film btw.

Definitely taking on a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Just don't want to lose our way on the garden path of "look how clever and comical I am". Personally thought this was going in a totally different direction with the ancient monster and more Earth-based, possibly even a prequal, dark . . . this is the comic series with mind control gladiators which I'm familiar with.

I think this is another great decision by Marvel (to keep this movie light). There are going to be dark times ahead with tons of serious shit going on for Infinity War 1 & the sequel, with most likely at least one major character dying. You might as well get in as much character development and relationship growth as you can prior to the drastic change to the lineup we'll be seeing in the next phase.

The comic series this is based on is pretty wild.
Likely spoilers:
Hulk Universe: Loki underworld magic separates Bannon from the Hulk and then releases the Hulk on Valhalla, only to realize he's totally out of control and they come to regret their little experiment. You see some of these characters (the sorceress) in the trailer. The alien planet they end up on has a cruel dictator, Jeff Goldblum, who uses mind control to enslave people and cause champions to fight as gladiators in his arena. You see this in the trailer as well.

I agree with the direction this is heading. Thor & the Hulk are too OP for an Avenger's/Civil War film. They need to balance that with humor.
