Tony if you are so sure in your stance, make a statement, your full legal name along with the fact you are growing pounds of weeds against state law.

Tony you missing the point, the liability isn't restricted to sites hosting sex trafficking content. The liability extends to sites hosting any civil/criminal offense. So what you're saying is that the government is trying to hold those responsible for participating in criminal activity to be punished for doing so? That's crazy. We should share this concept with the rest of the world. A government trying to punish criminals. That's some ground breaking shit right there Angelo. No. It is trying to punish a website when patrons may use said website for illegal activity. It's like Britain suing YouTube for hate speech because Count Dankula taught a pug a Nazi salute. It is stupid. YouTube isn't responsible for Dankula's Content, they can't vet the millions of videos uploaded every year. It is unreasonable.

YouTube is a $70 BILLION dollar company. They have ALREADY taken steps to demonetize channels they "don't like" such as Prager U, PJW, Crowder and several other conservative commentary sites. They MOST CERTAINLY ALREADY HAVE the ability to filter content. They can prevent a video from going live if it contains copyrighted content. Seems to me all this really involves is YouTube spending YouTube's money to improve their service.

No. I can decide it is unreasonable. Youtube cannot stop all the videos that go up. They have even upped staffing trying to do a better job of screening but it is impossible. Even copyrighted material goes up for awhile until somebody reports it. It is unreasonable to think it is feasible to vet every single video. Over 430,000 videos are uploaded A DAY on YouTube. It is completely unreasonable for them to be held responsible for third party content on that massive of a scale.

YouTube is more than capable of screening what goes up, and sorry bud, but they already have an algorithm in place regarding copyrighted stuff. It's the same one FB uses, which will prevent your video from being searchable on YT and will stop your video from being visible on FB. 430,000 is nothing. They can afford to tighten up their system, and I think they probably better do so otherwise the people who are arguing that Google, FB and YouTube should become "public utilities" are going to get more traction behind their argument. I do not want any of those three to become public beyond the stock market offerings they gave.

430,000 thousand videos a day is nothing? Lol. Sure they have an algorithm but it doesn't catch everything. I can watch nearly all UFC fights on PPV on YouTube within the first 24 hours or so, so it is far from perfect which is my point. Change a border, switch resolution or ratio and it beats the YouTube algorithm.

I think as long as they are diligent about removing content that could be problematic, they will be fine. One of the aspects of new legislation like this is that it has to eventually get sorted out in court. So really, the people this benefits the most are lawyers because there are going to be a whole bunch of cases that come forward because of this. In the end Floyd, do you honestly think this is a serious infringement of rights? Or are things that never were rights to begin with, but have been a part of the internet for so long that we think they are part of the foundation of the freedom the internet provides- getting taken away?
I don't really think we're going to be able to say for sure how much of an impact this is going to have until the cases start working through the judicial system. And given how much money the companies it affects have, I would imagine that these cases will start soon, because you know someone is going to try to strike it rich off these companies via litigation.

Back to the matter of this thread.
Something rather spectacular has started to occur over the last few weeks. Maybe some have noticed, maybe not. But weed is becoming a serious topic of discussion at the federal level.
First, you had Boehner join up with the third largest weed company in the country on their board of advisers (Boehner was an anti-weed guy the whole time his cig-smoking ass was in Congress)
Then you had Trump basically clip Sessions' wings, because Sessions was going to start a "crack down" on legal marijuana. Trump comes out in support of a measure that champions federalism and allows states to make their own rules about the stuff (directly in line with comments he made on the campaign trail, Comrade Fuckface.) Trump also wisely asked his base if they thought weed should be rescheduled internationally. He didn't need to explain that it is the fault of the United States and Harry (Cunt) Anslinger that other countries bothered to make weed illegal in the first place. It became part of international treaties that this country entered, and our pulling a U-Turn on that issue DOES have international implications. Fortunately, the base responded to the survey in favor of changing the rules internationally, because: the base doesn't give a fuck what those countries do and don't think this country should be telling them what to do.
Then Bernie and his cohorts of commies and libtards introduced a measure taking mary jane off the schedule but also withdrawing federal aid from states that have "disproportionate prosecution rates for marijuana crimes" with regards to minorities. So Cali and NY and Illinois and Florida can kiss their federal aid good bye. (This is never gonna happen.)
And today, Fuckin Chuckie...
Chuck Schumer, Captain Drug Free America himself, and minority house leader said he plans to introduce legislation to eliminate marijuana from the DEA's schedule entirely.
The fact that both sides now seem to be fighting over who gets to legalize first is the first real sign I've seen that this shit is going to be going down for real, sooner rather than later.
I can't say enough how big a deal being taken off the schedule is. It removes the biggest problem I had, which wasn't feds kicking the door in, it was the absolute horse shit rate that we'd be taxed at (upwards of 40%, likely 60%, possibly 70%) and the fact that we were probably going to have to engage in some creative accounting to keep Uncle Sam from being the majority profit holder.
Given the people involved in the process at the top, from Bernie to Trump to Gillibrand, are all going to be involved in the next presidential election, weed is currently shaping up to be a topic of discussion during the highest election of the country (pun not intended, but it fits, so fuck it).
But there is also the possibility that this issue is solved and the changes implemented before the election is at hand.
Loving that they are fighting over who legalizes first though. They are finally fighting over an issue I give a fuck about, and it seems like this time there is going to be a clear direction established and the ridiculousness at the federal level regarding weed can be put to bed once and for all.
And a 20% tax rate for the company coupled with writing off operating expenses = success at a much more rapid rate for the company, as well as less of a need for me to inject it with crypto funds.
And in my own state, our governor is going to veto the bill that just passed the house and the senate, but this time the measure passed with 71% approval, and they only need 66% to over ride his lumpy ass and his veto pen. We will know within the next ten days if we kick off in Spring of 2019 instead of Spring 2020. If this shakes out as I hope it does, I'll have two construction projects going on at the same time, which will probably suck, but the end result is worth it.

Funny thing happened this weekend.
About 3 months ago my cousin called me all concerned. She has a 16 year old son, and she saw him come home one night and get out of his car and go pop his gas tank and take something out of the compartment between the lid and the gas cap. So a couple nights later she went out and popped open the lid and found a bag of weed.
So she called me because she said she knows I smoke a lot of weed and also knows that I'm doing pretty well. She wanted me to help her figure out how she was going to deal with this.
So I asked her how he was doing in school. She said he gets mostly A's, and a couple of B's. I know he works at our other cousin's gym, so I asked if Scott had been complaining about him flaking out with work. She said that Scott says he's doing great.
So I said to her, "So your kid is on the honor roll, he's holding down a job, and sometimes he smokes some weed? I don't really see what the problem is other than the fact that he is under 21 and could face some legal consequences if he gets caught with it."
She seemed to calm down. The only thing she was concerned about at that point was him getting arrested. I told her she should talk to him about it and make it clear to him that he needs to be very careful.
Fast forward 3 months to this past weekend. Family gathering.
My aunt, the mother of my cousin, comes up to me and tells me that her grandson went and got his medical card and now has 4 tents in his mom's basement.
I guess I did a pretty good job of calming my cousin down. She went from flipping out to letting him grow it in her basement.

Just bought 51% of a Co2 concentrate company. Giving up 400 sq feet of floor space to get the equipment in our building, but I think it's a good move. Concentrates are a definite direction this market is moving in. The advantage I see Co2 extraction having is it keeps the terps in the mix rather than blasting them out. Having a separate company doing the work on site is going to make our process a lot smoother and faster.
The equipment is a lot more expensive though. The rig coming from CO is almost $250k. Their waiting list is like Tesla's. 4 month build out time. But so far, no one else up here has made a purchase. So everyone else seems to be going straight thc/cbd. But terps are crucial to unique interactions with thc/cbd and you lose the entourage effect if terps are blasted out.
The one issue is going to be the volume we can process. Our first phase of the company build will put the machine at capacity every week, but when we double our output in phase 2, we're going to have excess that we're going to have to sell off to other processing companies unless we can expand on our original site, which might not be possible.
Shit's moving along way faster now that the state gov't has put forth the opening date in 2019.

Good luck with weed being legal in your area... it's a fucking disaster here. Clusterfuck here too. Medical about to be done at state level, recreational likely for my county, and then STL (one of only two cities to not be a part of the county they are in) is gonna be medical with extra restrictions (which I don't think will hold up and be open medical like the state). The amount of people gonna be rounded up traveling thru the city or neighboring counties from the county is gonna be nuts.

There is everything from open 1 acre grows in view of major streets to people being arrested for drug trafficking of weed. No structure, no clear codes, no ability to force people to do things the right way because they didn't develop the infrastructure before the legalization, and the worst part of all of it is people are burning houses down every day from illegal grows in their garages. I would say in my local area which is a county of about 400k people, I hear of at least 2 fires and 1 home invasion robbery a day tied to weed... and this is a pretty nice area to be having home invasions. Last month 2 people died from a bunch of nigs coming up from Oakland and robbing the wrong house, killing innocent people who they thought were growers.

Each place is going to have its own particular issues based on population and the way the rules are structured. I have no clue how California set their stuff up.
But the problem you're mentioning with outdoor grows being in Plain Sight has definitely been addressed in our legislation.
Every adult in the state of Maine is allowed to legally grow three plants for themselves. I don't know about home invasions, those don't really happen around here. I think one of the reasons they don't happen around here is that it's pretty common knowledge that most people here have guns in their homes. I mean we still have them every once in awhile, but they are not common.
I suppose if people are trying to set up Black Market grows in their homes then they are probably more likely to have criminals eyeing them up.
What I do know is that you'd have to be pretty stupid to try and break into our place. You will have the police on-site within three to five minutes, and that's not going to be enough time for you to get to the marijuana or the cash. Even if you were going to be pulling off an inside job, there just isn't going to be enough time.
Maine had the longest delay of any state that legalized, and the legislation that is now in a fact demonstrates the knowledge that our legislators gained from other states as they crafted these laws. It's been annoying to me that it has taken so long, but the benefit to it taking this long is that a lot of the issues other states have dealt with have been addressed.
I'm sure we're going to have our own unique set of problems, but I don't think those are necessarily going to involve home invasions or people staggering down the street because they are so high.
It is going to be interesting to see how it plays out over the course of the first summer though, because for those three months Maine's population is only about 3 million shy of the population of the entire State of California. There could definitely be some issues when you cram that many people into this small of an area.

Weed grows and retail/wholesale outlets are just a magnet here for crime. Prior to weed becoming really prolific and acceptable we had hardly any crime here. The biggest change that legalizing weed has brought is the crime seems to be more organized and violent. I do think it will hopefully subside, but right now it is a fucking mess and has cost a lot of people money and their lives so far.

I did some reading last night about the situation in your neck of the woods Kyle and it sounds like there are people from out-of-state coming in and trying to cash in on the legal Market in your state. But it also sounds like it's gang related, and we don't really have much along the lines of Crips or Bloods or MS-13 up here in the great white North. I suppose they might come up here and try to start something, but people like that tend to stick out like a sore thumb up here.
I'm sure there are a lot of potheads who decided they were going to get into the weed Market because they thought that it would be easy money. But the truth is there is no such thing as easy money. The people who are most successful in this field are ones who treat it like a legitimate business and give it all of the planning and time that a legitimate business requires. That includes security measures across the board.
I know it's possible that there have been more than a couple of home invasions, and just the high-profile ones are the ones that get the news attention. But, it looks like there have been two of them and they both involved people raiding actual homes. And they managed to secure about $1,000 and about five or six marijuana plants. So these guys conducting these raids are kind of retarded.
It's kind of weird that I haven't really heard about those sorts of things happening in other states that have legalized. I know that each state has had a few isolated incidents, but I don't know that the problem is as significant across the board as it is in your area.
The industry itself is supposed to reach about 50 billion dollars a year within the next 10 years. You're not going to take a piece of that pie without some risk. But if you minimize your exposure then you are also minimizing the risk in what is definitely a very calculated risk.
I'm not scared of people from Virginia or North Carolina trying to come and raid my house. I have a pretty sweet alarm system and more than a couple of guns that are designed to kill more than one person at a time. My next house is going to be even harder to get into. I'm not really worried about that at all.

I've heard of plenty of armed robberies and home invasions. Has happened to people I somewhat know.
The ones that brag about it and let everyone know that this is what they do...those are the ones that generally get targeted. I know others that do run it like a legit biz and they tend to not have these problems...or if they do, they are already prepared as to not get caught with their pants down.
I also know some shady fuckers. They just sit back and wait for people to talk about their mj biz on social media, then they target them.
The business is still no different than 20 years ago when it comes to keeping discreet imo. The loud mouthed always were the first to drop back then. Seems in my area, same rules still apply.
Since most know you can't being the profits to the bank, home invasions are common. And most won't go to the police still, because there are still some grey areas and I suspect not everyone is towing the line. Black market still exists out here as well so there is always that.

Yes, lots of home invasions and robberies here on a weekly basis. Just looking at the front page of our local news ("teen arrested for pot shop robbery", "home invasion targeted cash stockpile in rural neighborhood", and "knife attack tied to dispute over marijuana sale").
Yes there is a lot of shitty people coming up from Oakland, Benicia and the other black dominated metropolis's we are lucky enough to have around us. There is no doubt that Gangs are a major player in this surge in crime. What pisses me off is that I have to live amongst people that decide to have $1mm cash in their living room or a stockpile of weed in their garage, making it more likely that I will get caught in the middle of some shootout or home invasion.
The upside of legalization is that it seems to have knocked back the everyday grower who had 100 plants in their back yard and was making $100k a year cash sitting around being a shithead.

I'm really surprised California hasn't figured something out as far as dealing with the cash is concerned. That was one of the central things that was discussed up here. If you get a license to operate from the state, Credit Unions will take your money.
So there aren't going to be any stock piles of cash in people's houses unless they choose to operate that way. The black market guys are still going to be shit out of luck as far as that is concerned, but the licensed Growers and retail shops will have a place to store their cash.

California is fucking broke and rushed to legalize it just so they can get the money. They never planned for any infrastructure or standard practices. My County has about 15 local cities in its borders. One city doesn't allow dispensaries and only allows small grows, the city that it borders allows 1 acre grows and there are dispensaries all over the place. Its just typical California dysfunction.

Wait so in California they have the limits set by municipalities? That seems like a recipe for a real clusterfuck.
I would imagine there are probably so many people getting into this that the state is having a hard time keeping things properly regulated. Especially if they rushed to implementation. Like I said before, I was pretty annoyed at how long it took my state to get their shit together but I think in the long run it was probably the better move because it allowed us to address the problems being faced in other states.

Trump signed the 'Right To Try Act'. It's a far cry from legalization, but it's at least he has the balls to sign it. More than can be said for Obama who could have sealed his legacy as a good president by even doing that.

Right To Try has been on the books up here for years. Glad the president cleared it on the federal level. My father could have benefitted from it if he didn't marry a succubus and if my brother wasn't a fucking idiot.

Yes, local ordinances are all over the place with consistency. 1 small town will have 5 dispensary’s and the next will ban them. There is a large push right now by the affluent people and communities to enact localized bans on commercial grows from a zoning standpoint. There are quite a few companies/individuals who have sunk millions in to infrastructure already and if these local zoning ordinances pass they are going to be fucked bad.
