Keeping honeybees has been a lot more work than I expected, but I am getting a lot of enjoyment out of it. This year alone I went from 3 to 6 hives and extracted just under 20 gallons of honey. I have not sold any yet, just giving it away to friends and family. I might have the kids set up a booth at the local farmers market and fund their colleges. If I would have sold the honey for average prices this year I would have made $1,800.00. Next year I would expect at least 40 gallons unless I unexpectedly lose hives. [img src=" " style="max-width:100%;"] If you do start selling the honey for the kids, I'll glady purchase some... PM me your mailing address and I will ship you some free of charge

Have you tried making specialty honey? Covering the area with something say like lavender to influence the flavour of the honey. No you just pull the honey at certain times of the year to keep it separate. Early spring is wildflower, June is Blackberry, and late summer is Star Thistle.

Kyle, are you familiar with white honey? A friend just brought me some from Mexico. Didn't know it came in such form.

If so, yes I am going to make some this winter... you just buy a jar of creamed honey and by adding a small amount to a large amount of clear honey it will set the reaction off and cream all of it. I am not sure the taste changes but the texture seems pretty cool.

Build/ride these things.. These look fucking awesome. Care to break it down a bit? Sure.. Basically, they're sand drag bikes. The engines are 745cc and put down 175HP and 95TQ at the tires. They'll run 80MPH in 3.8 seconds as they sit. With a wheelie bar they should be in the 3.6-3.7 range. The pink bike weighs 290 pounds ready to ride and the purple one is 297 ready to ride. We just dune grudge race mainly, but I entered two races in April/May and won $1500 combined. Mainly, I just like to go fast.

Fuuuuuck. It's the beginning of riding season out here in the dunes, Im surprised I've never seen one of these out there. There is a lot of flats on the outskirts that I think would be perfect for something like this. I would also think one of these would be pretty sweet for desert trail riding?

These bikes are Banshee based. Not much OEM left on/in them though. You can build a Banshee to be an awesome dune or trail bike, although most people opt for one of the newer 4-strokes.

Los Angeles, but we ride Glamis dunes and the trails south of Parker near the Colorado River. A little rocky out there but good times.

What kind of music you into? and what guitars do you play? Everything! I love music. I love heavy metal, contemporary jazz, bluegrass, LOVE jambands!, country(old and new), I don't look like listening to country music but that's what I currently listen to the most(Eric Church, Zac Brown, Kenny Chesney). I have a Schecter Diamond series, 7 string An Ibanez RG series A Taylor 214ce acoustic BC Rich Warlock Fender B-bender Cheap Cordoba classical guitar Fender banjo Hey TOIAP, got a 12 string Epiphone acoustic over the weekend from a pawn shop. It was from the 80s but really in great shape. Anyway, Holy Shit they (12 Strings) wear the hand down if you are not used to them. I have really had to play for short periods a few times a day to build up my strength and caluses. Love the way they sound though. Had to bust out some Led Zeppelin chops.

Shit. I guess the only hobby I have is cooking. I hesitate to call it a hobby because I cook almost every day for dinner and to take to work for lunch.
But i guess it's a hobby because I truly enjoy it and I'm always looking for new recipes to try.
Other than that, I've never been into fishing or hunting or gaming or anything like that. I do go out a lot. Live 1.2 miles from the ocean and enjoy walking by the Beach and a couple of ocean trails.
I would also like to think travelling is a hobby of mine. I live for the next vacation. Here in the states or internationally. But with only 2 or 3 trips a years, can't call it a hobby.
Some people call drinking a hobby. Especially the craft beer and wine crowd. I do drink a lot, but nothing fancy.

One of the few things that have peaked mumy interest if I had the space for it. I have a wood lathe, I bought it at a pawn shop for $75. I've only tried to use it once so far. I ended up stopping the rotation as I was trying to turn a pen blank. So there is something wrong with it. I may try it again later. I have watched many turning videos on youtube (so I'm a pro at it already), you can make some cool stuff. Right now I'm messing with resin alot. Check out stone cold counter tops. Some cool stuff there with live edge and resin.

Yeah I've seen some resin ones that end up looking like its part of the wood. Pretty cool stuff.
Ill check out your recommendation right away.

They have Dune fest on the Oregon coast where i grew up and the first ten years or so that shit was like redneck fucking burning man it was insane the town where it happens is like population 3000 but there were like 20k showing up for the fest. they have since gotten alot more strict and made it much more about the racing and toned down on the partying but i haven't been since they tightened up.
