Just started the second season of Bloodline. So far I'm impressed with one character's uncanny ability to fuck everything up for everyone but himself, and continue fucking things up, even after he shouldn't be able to fuck anything up anymore. Pulling down two or three episodes a night, definitely enjoying it. Good call, Cup.

anyone here get into Marco Polo on Netflix? It took me a couple of episodes to really dig into it but I ended up loving the whole series (2 seasons, 3rd tentatively in the works) I'm thinking of trying The Expanse (lower budget SyFy thing) - I'm not sure, but the premise sounds cool. Anyone into that one? I only managed to see the first 2 episodes of The Expanse, but it has another season coming and people seem to love it.

I found it kind of cheesy........how everything was a "Learning experience" for Marco polo, which was probably historically accurate, but the guy playing Marco Polo made the cheesiest faces whenever he saw something new. Not a fan of his acting I guess. I like the Khan. But hate his sons. The blind monk was cool, kind of like an omage to old kung fu movies. I can't remember if I started season 2, but a lot of my friends can't stop talking about it. So I might give it another chance. Marco Polo definitely has a bit of the "cheese" factor, but it really hits a stride toward the end of season 1 and it keeps that pace through season 2. If you run into some free time, give season 2 a shot, it gets more into the relationship between the Mongol Empire and the West (Christianity). It's all about Kublai for me, he's an awesome character. His Queen is maybe my favorite character after Kublai. His son, Jingham (the young-ish one, resents Marco early on and is kinda a dick for much of season 1), actually becomes one of my favorite characters, his story arch is excellent and you actually see his character grow and evolve. SAD UPDATE - just saw they've cancelled season 3. Earlier rumors suggested HBO might pick it up, fingers crossed variety.com/2016/tv/news/marco-polo-canceled-netflix-season-3-1201940345/

I was kinda happy they are ending Bloodline after the third season. Story is solid but starting to feel like they could drag it out for years without going anywhere but in circles. Worth the watch time, the acting is exceptional, especially Chandler and Mendelsohn's characters. And I think them ending it with three seasons gives the story a solid arc that has a definite conclusion.

Yeah people keep talking about it at work, I'm skeptical (low budget, etc) but I really like the general concept. It might be next up on the list of stuff to try. A couple of my nerdier friends convinced me to give "Dark Matter" a try also. It's a low-budget sci-fi show, first season is on Netflix. It's aaalright, but you've got to go in with pretty mild expectations cause it's definitely got some cheesy dialogue sprinkled throughout.

I loved Stranger Things. Hope season 2 doesn't disappoint. The entire cast is returning, so I'm hopeful they can deliver something close to the first season.

I kind of wondered if they were going to do a 2nd season.
It was kind of like goonies, et and a couple of old school horror movies all rolled into one. Never could have been told in just a 2 hour block either.
I'm really liking these some of these shows that are basically one long movie.

Yeah, me too. I'm still brand new to Netflix and really love the way they set these things up to binge watch. It has a different kind of feel than regular network shows, and I like this feel better. I think the writers really love not having to write around commercial breaks. Gives them so much more freedom and leeway to tell the story how they want to. It translates into the shows, clearly. This Netflix stuff is some of the best TV I've watched in years.

agree with both you guys. My only minor gripe is that I think we lose a little something binge-watching episodes one right after the other. Now, a week between episodes is almost too painful if you love the show (GoT, Westworld, etc) but a couple of days between is just right imo - gives me enough time to marinate and reflect.
Now, I can't say I actually adhere to that all that often... hard to say no to the next episode when it's ready and waiting!

I don't have that problem because I will lull out around the 2-3 hour mark OR get restless and want to get up and do something. Even when it's raining or my back is out and I am supposed to be resting up, I just can't do it.
That waiting a week for a show though...with GOT that's almost torture.

gonna buckle down and force myself to start season 2 of Man in the High Castle this weekend.
I LOVE the premise, love love motherfuckn love it. but some of the main characters really irk me, it makes it tough for me to stay invested in the show. I think a couple of the supporting characters are great, the Japanese Trade Minister and the main Nazi guy are awesome.

The second season moves a little slower than the 1st. But, they are building the tension for the inevitable perfectly.

Taboo. I've really been liking this show. Very slow build, would really like to be able to take in 2 episode's at a time. But it's been a nice treat to sit back and watch once a week. They did a good job on this show, I'm impressed.

Several episodes into homeland, but not really enjoying the season. Not captivated by the story line. Getting tired of Carrie still wanting to be chummy w the agency while working for anti American agencies. Not quite embracing the new struggles of Quinn. Getting bored with the obligatory Saul barenson field duty chase scene that seems way out of place each season.
No empathy for This season's main protagonist, the Muslim teen.
Hope it improves.
Anyone else have opinions; good, bad, or indifferent ?

I think I knew I was done because I was hoping for someone, anyone, to put a bullet in Carrie's crazy brain. That show Damian Lewis is on now though, Billions, far better than what Homeland became.
