So the normal Tuesday night dinner with Jess's sister over and we wind up putting on that new Netflix show Santa Clarita Diet. Was not expecting it to be as hilarious as it is. Up to episode 3 at the moment, Timothy Olyphant is fucking amazing.

Finished Taboo. Fun little ride. Don't know if I would like to see it continue, feel like it would only be downhill and rather forced from this point.

I finished the Sopranos a few weeks ago. I think it tops Breaking Bad for me. It was so good that I did not want it to end.

Ok... after this week's episode of homeland, I am now punting. They are heading into badly done x files territory. I'm done. It's been essentially two seasons too long. The past two seasons still had occasional and rare elements that kept me interested, but this season has none. I'm done.
Will dabble in Netflix to find something else to follow

Been watching legion. I passed it by many times, then caught some random tidbit about how it was actually about the marvel comics character. That intrigued me.
Oddball show, but I am going to try and make it through.

I really wish they'd do a legit Dresden Files series, like 2-3 books a seasons, about 5 episodes a book, on HBO or Netflix.

It's not that good and I don't know what I'm looking at parts of the time. But I'm intriqued to see where they go and what all the pull from the comic. Looking forward to the Hellfire Club show that I read is supposed to be filmed as well.

Not quite hot garbage but close... I enjoyed it up until the finale. But I can see the argument for it being kind of cheesedick. I'm a fan of Tom Hardy so I think that helped. That being said, I think it's a lot less cheese than at least 95% of the other shows out there. Some of this stuff is serious hot garbage. And it's somehow pretty popular. I'm looking for another show to check out, meanwhile I've slowly but surely have been catching up on the past 8 years of southpark.

Not quite hot garbage but close... I can see how it isn't for everyone. It's one of the better "cat and mouse" series I've seen. Being a Hardy fan helped too. I'd imagine people who liked Peaky Blinders will get off on Taboo.

I'm looking for another show to check out, meanwhile I've slowly but surely have been catching up on the past 8 years of southpark. You saw Bloodline and Stranger Things already right? I say check out Bosch (one of the best cop shows in maybe the last 10 years), it on Amazon and already has 2 seasons out, 3rd releases April 20th I think, and already renewed for a 4th. I think it was PatSox who after that recommendation just expected to check out one episode and binged the whole thing just like that. If you want another sorta modern-western cop show, check out Justified (on Amazon now) Breaking Bad and Sopranos and The Shield pretty much everyone loves. If you looking more on the comedy side, and like British stuff, both The IT Crowd and Black Books are quick to watch and great. Terriers is great (on Netflix now) cancelled after one season (even though it won emmy). A buddy-buddy non-licensed PI show that was on FX. Very good. Created by the almost always amazing Shawn Ryan (who actually talks/bickers with Jess about the Cubs at times). Then there the HBO classics of Deadwood, Rome, Curb Your Enthusiasm. Heard nothing but good things about the Leftovers but still haven't watched more than the first episode. And finally if you want one that you may find yourself surprisingly loving (mostly because of Timothy Olyphant's character), and is great to watch with the wife/whatever, check out Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix. Was just picked up for season 2 too.

After some of the shows I watch hit their finale, I may try to watch it again.

Watched the whole first season of Santa Clarita Diet. Thought it was absolutely hilarious, and Olyphant playing a confused pussy-dude was a nice change of pace for him. The entire premise of the show is ridiculous, but also damned funny in a stupid "my wife is an intelligent zombie who can now only survive by eating living people" kind of way.
Bloodline is a great show and I'm sad that they are cancelling it after this next season. I guess Florida got rid of a lot of tax breaks for filming in the state and it made Bloodline prohibitively expensive to continue, which is too bad because I think they could run a few more miles with the story arc. This show is slow, but the tension is CONSTANTLY building. Even after things that you suspect are inevitable occur, the tension remains. Very well written and Ben Mendelsohn's performance is worth the Emmy win and Golden Globe nomination. It'll only end up being three seasons long, but it's a slow burn that's worth the ride.
Haven't watched Legion or Taboo yet. Had the whole season of Taboo in the DVR but the DVR is getting sent back to DirecTV as soon as they send me the box to ship it back to them in. I'll catch up with those on Fire. Also have The Young Pope, which might be gay as hell but I like stuff about pious people being debaucherous without being pedos.
Vale if you haven't watched The Man In The High Castle yet, check it out. Fantastic show, only two seasons in so far.

Oh, and Iron Fist on Netflix is actually pretty good too, for what it is. I was on the fence about starting it but then read that they are doing a Defenders series where they will bring together Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. So now I'm watching all four of those as well. The downside to this is that my wife found fucking Gray's Anatomy on the Fire Stick so now I have to put in an hour of that bullshit to get an hour of superhero awesome.

I'll check out man in the high castle. See if it works for me.
I watched Daredevil, 2nd season I enjoyed. Couldn't get into Jessica Jones. Haven't given Luke Cage a shot yet.
I have a shit ton of luke cage and iron fist comics, wonder if these shows will finally give the prices on those a shot in the arm...

I am one episode behind in Better Call Saul, but in the last one I saw, the name "Saul Goodman" finally showed up.
Without spoiling it, kind of underwhelming how Saul Goodman came to be. I was expecting more.....like he faked his own death, or had to get a fake law degree under a new name or something like that. But no, kind of on a whim....

It is sort of underwhelming, but I'm not sure what people were expecting, from a logic standpoint I mean, if you've been watching you know he's been in Albuquerque since episode one. Same place he was for the entirety of Breaking Bad. And like a thousand people in town know Jimmy very well. Clients, cops, other lawyers, colleagues, criminals, his brother, everyone at his brother's firm. And an assorted bunch of others. They know the guy...........and he never moves. It all takes place in Albuquerque, both shows So how would faking his death and then just walking around as the same exact dude, doing the same job, in the same place, with nothing but a different name fool anybody? Think, Mcfly....think

All of that makes sense and it's obvious to everyone that watched breaking bad. But since the show started one of the "burning" questions was "How he became Saul Goodman?". I agree, can't do much about that, but for the hype that the question got, I was expecting a bit more.

At the behest of my old college roommate, I started watching the original version of Twin Peaks.
I'm 5 episodes in right now and all I can say is that this show is straight fucked. It's weird, but mesmerizing, the characters are all a bit insane, there's some indian in denim who's named Bob, and the acting is absolutely, positively, atrocious. It's really, really, really bad. But every once in awhile, something hilarious is said or happens. So you keep watching to see what fucked up shit is coming next.
I knew I'd heard the name David Lynch before, so I looked him up and remembered why I knew his name. He was responsible for Lost Highway, the worst movie I've ever had to sit through twice. So I'm not sure if I've got the fortitude to make it through another season and a half of this just to make it to the 2017 continuance. If this show is like Lost Highway I'm gonna put time in and get no payoff, and that'll annoy me.

Just finished binging on the new season (25 yrs later) of Twin Peaks.
Fuuuuuuuck me, it's weird. Vintage David Lynch in every sense of the word. If you like Lynch, dive right in -- the water is fine.
Layers of layers of weirdness and hidden black hearts. Supernatural evil. Haunting soundtrack and use of sound in general, which is sort of a hallmark of Lynch. The pervasive, can't quite put my finger on it, uneasiness of the whole situation, every situation. Surreal, symbolic, metaphorical, dream-like, lingering, awkward, uncomfortable, delicious Lynch.
Fun cameo by Michael Bisping in Ep. 1. Lot's of returning cast from the original. Great stuff. Sentimental. Nostalgic. But still heavy Lynchian themes and darkness to balance out the light-hearted, coffee-and-doughnuts stuff.
