What kinda show do you want? I don't even care about watching shows, especially acted shows. My wife said I should pick something and try to get in to it on a weekly basis. I would be fine watching news/baseball/hockey or nothing at all. I don't have any real interest in spending too much time just watching t.v. I'm with you on this. I really don't have much of a want to sit in front of the television. It's very rare but once in awhile a show will come along where I will want to watch ever week. Breaking bad and Game of Thrones are 2 of them that I actually will set time to watch. But other then that it's just nice to thow something on as I daze off. I don't really care for sports or news either.

I think the only show that I actually focus on and watch with 100% attention that is still airing is Top Chef and GoT.

If I have a few free moments waiting for something to load or whatever, I like having something there to hold my attention. I hate nothing going on.

So the guy who has an opinion on every tv show and movie doesn't pay attention 99% of the time. Thanks, now I know not to listen to your opinion on anything related to entertainment.

The concept of background noise for deaf people seems contradictory was all I was saying. But that's ok. I think there are a lot of contradictions in JackelLand.

But this makes me wonder....
What exactly is the necessary volume level for a deaf person to have the tv at so that it registers as "background noise"? And do you not realize that if it is really high that you might be making Sporty deaf too?

No, I meant that 99% of the time it isn't taking all my attention. I'm still paying attention, just not focused on it 100%. We have two eyes, I use both, one reading or whatever the other funny enough reading captions. But this makes me wonder.... What exactly is the necessary volume level for a deaf person to have the tv at so that it registers as "background noise"? And do you not realize that if it is really high that you might be making Sporty deaf too? Louder than normal I'm sure, but that is how it is.

You probably explained it before, but I must had missed it. How deaf are you? Give me a scale from 1 to be 10. Can you even speak? I have encountered some deaf guys that speak like ...shit sorry to say this, but they speak like retarded people. Sort of like that actress Marlee Matlin. That they speak like they they have a big sinus problem going on Where you born deaf?

Jackel is a troll or simply one of the worst human beings to ever exist. Jobless, shoeless, and clueless but thinks he is an expert on everything from MMA fighting, Russian economics/politics, to cyber security and medicine. He is 100% sure of his opinions on everything and purposefully takes a contrarIan approach just to argue with people. Literally the only thing he has shown to be halfway adept at is cooking and he should be since he does nothing but take up space while his girlfriend works. He has no concept of pulong his own weight and pretends his utter laziness is morally virtuous so he doesn't have to get a job because he would never, ever lie because he is over qualified for everything even though he constantly lies on this board... He is a pathetic waste of air...

I underwent years of intensive speech therapy, some people can tell, some think it an accent. Mostly I transpose consonants, miss the 's' 'sh' 'ch', and especially as the day goes in and hearing loss exhaustion (also called hearing loss fatigue) sets in, I tend to slur my words a bit and sometimes sorta mumble. I also will start speak much louder than is appropriate because I can't tell I'm doing that and actually takes quite a bit of focus to maintain a proper volume when you can't hear yourself. Speaking right, and keeping the right volume isn't muscle memory for me, I have to consciously focus on each aspect while figuring out what is being said around me. I've gotten very good at it, but as the day goes on it really wears on you though. As for how deaf am I... I posted in the other thread before here the copy paste: As of 11 years ago (because SS office didn't send my most recent one to me like they said they would 4 years ago, but the doctor said my hearing as deteriorated quite a bit since then), officially it is profound sloping sensorineural hearing loss starting at 1k in right ear and 500 in left ear. Every few years it deteriorates more (more rapidly last 2 years which has me worried). I may need to rely on ASL inside of 10 years in a worst case scenario. My speech discrimination at 60dB was 36% in left ear, 60% in right ear. It got much worse since then obviously. That is the tests results, put that into reality and speech discrimination actually increases/decreases depending on the situation. If it is with someone I'm used to talking with so I know their body language, expression, tone, tempo, the way they speak, I can do very well as long as not a lot of background noise. If it with someone I don't know, I could be saying what every other word. It is annoying because consider this sample of sounds with "normal" speech For me to hear it "normally" (as of 11 years ago) In my left ear, anything to the right of the 500 mark needs to be above 50 decibels, 65 past the 1k, 100+ from 2k on. In my right ear, anything to the right of the 1000 line needs to be at 65 decibels, 90+ from 2k on. And of course that assuming a straight dB-Hz correlation, it differs from person to person. I find for instance Russians and Germans tend to be more lower Hz in average making it easier for me. In general people speak in the 50-60dB range (dropping to the 30-40dB range for nor non-vowels and hard sounds). So yeah that an issue. Oh of course all that is assuming a quiet room too. Any background noise at all makes it harder to register the sounds properly. As for a scale of 1 normal to 10 deaf, a 7 or an 8.

While I have lied before on this forum, only about minor details here and there for various reasons. 3. Anyone watching the affair limp along? I enjoyed some of season one; much less of season two. This season is worse. Just realized that brenden Fraser is the prison guard in Noah's past. Different role for him.
Don't care about Allison nor cole. A few of the Helen episodes are tolerable. A few of the Noah episodes are. Seems to be drug addicted and hung up on paranoid delusions. Have a feeling and more a hope that this show will end; and end soon, with Noah's suicide.
Time still kinda limited. I think I'll start black mirror watching.

Knocked off both episodes of Taboo last night and happy that I did. Solid show. Main guy reminds me a lot of the Ragnar character from Vikings (though I only watched seasons 2 and 3 of that show). Good job of walking the line for supernatural-esque mystique.

anyone here get into Marco Polo on Netflix? It took me a couple of episodes to really dig into it but I ended up loving the whole series (2 seasons, 3rd tentatively in the works)
I'm thinking of trying The Expanse (lower budget SyFy thing) - I'm not sure, but the premise sounds cool. Anyone into that one?

I found it kind of cheesy........how everything was a "Learning experience" for Marco polo, which was probably historically accurate, but the guy playing Marco Polo made the cheesiest faces whenever he saw something new. Not a fan of his acting I guess.
I like the Khan. But hate his sons. The blind monk was cool, kind of like an omage to old kung fu movies.
I can't remember if I started season 2, but a lot of my friends can't stop talking about it. So I might give it another chance.
