Literally any measure of value (that's the exact same word you quoted me as saying) is measured by real dollars. Your broke ass could come on here and say you bought 1 stock and saw a 50% gain, however given that you can only afford $8.00 in stocks that means you would only have gained $4.00. Jeff Bezos saw a .05% return over the same period, however that means he made $500mm. By your logic you are a greater success story than Bezos. VALUE is actually measured by dollars... people that don't know anything about business or intrinsic value which is the actual basis of the whole market don't care about percentages, they care about individual dollars. Look up intrinsic value, if you don't know what that is I suggest you learn before you invest. Percentages can be very misleading when used to generalize things. Of course the 1929 collapse was far worse, the world was 1/7 the population and the available money in the economy was 1/25th of what it is today. Is that a serious question or are you trying to imply something that I am missing? Nothing in our economy will likely ever be as bad as 1929 going forward because of the global economy being more likely to offset individual economy downslides. Kyle, you're so close but no potato, so let's focus on that last part: what is the relevance of the bolded statement above? Here's a bonus question: how much more value would the stock market have added if it had just maintained the pace of growth set by Obama? Let's see... nobody knows. You don't, I don't and nobody does. Obama's statistics are based off of 80 year lows, so it's pretty funny to think he did well when his basis was our economy in the worst state since the 30's. Hillary was going to be a continuation of Obama's economics and healthcare... the market had her winning in late October and the built in value was 17,000. Trump wins and the market jumps to 20,000. My GUESS would be the market was going to stay fairly stagnant if Obama had a third term. Of course it's just a guess, but investor sentiment about Obama was mostly negative throughout his terms because he was to bearish on taxes and corporate profits. I'm tempted to write more and continue to debate you and Andrew, but i've come to realize this type of thing just isn't me anymore. I used to enjoy the banter, but now people are just too fucking whiny... or maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe it's CaveBear dying, or the fact that you can't have an opinion without being labeled by a few crybabies here as being in a circle jerk group... but the luster is gone and I have way better things to do with my time than post pointlessly. I'll be casting a big (pointless California) vote for Trump in November. I hope he steamrolls whatever zero the democrats parade up to the podium and I hope the last 3 years of failed obstruction cause the left to lose the house. This country needs to get back to it's roots and away from the direction of pussifictation that its going. My guess is Trump will be the last president in my lifetime that isn't a smoke show that panders to race baiting and ultra sensitive people who accomplishes nothing and continues to ignore the massive flaws this country has. Signing off for good. I honestly hope the best for the last few people posting here.

I think it's because of the posters with dissenting ideas, that are often backed up with figures, statistics, etc, get automatically attacked with ad hominem attacks and essentially burying your head in the sand and saying "No, No, No, No Trump is my hero and here are some anecdotal and propagandist talking points to 'back it up' No, No, No, No". Kyle and Slayton never use actual figures or facts, just pure talking points. Talking points I have to assume are from talking heads, because there is zero reasoning or evidence to back them up. It's weird to see the tide turn in that regard. It used to be "oh you only hate Trump for emotional reasons", now it's "emotional reasons are good enough for me to support him with zero dissent". Slayton has said a few times about how he doesn't really like Trump, but never actually veers away from intellectualy sucking him off. Remember when the actual Florida guy use to go on and on about how Russia was the biggest threat to America and how they were corrupting our government from the inside out? When was the last time you heard a bad word about Russia on here? What a bunch of projecting, strawmanning plop. I still talk big shit on Russia. The whole “Russia helped Trump/ favors Trump” line of bullshit is being supported by Russian disinformation, if not originated by it. As for sucking Trump off, I don’t know what to tell you. The alternatives to Trump are what they are. Comparison is science, and compared to any of the alternatives, Trump looks like George Washington combined with Jesus. You prefer Bernie or Bloomberg to Trump? Show me some of your much ballyhooed figures and statistics that support such a choice.

Weird that Kyle deleted his account. Why not just take a break from posting? I didn’t think anyone took this place too seriously anymore. You know, CaveBear would have loved the mini flamewars of the last week or so. Ironic that his death led to some life on this board.

That's so ridiculous, it's like it has to be fake. It was a bad day for dummies, I also saw that there was a national poll in which 38% of people said they wouldn't drink Corona beer because of the virus.

Slaytan has been the one most vocal about politics and hated everyone who is not a republican, everyone, democrat, independent or even if you hated politics or didn't agree with his Russian spiel...

I think it probably got a little personal for Kyle as well.
This place doesn't talk about anything BUT politics and hasn't in 7 years damn near. Any other topic gets a couple of ho-hum replies or is outright ignored. Politics don't really consume my life. I just really like to spar 'intellectually' to be honest. Half of the people who others accuse me of getting opinions from I haven't even heard of. Or I know of them, but certainly don't pay attention. I think it's a bit of a generation gap thing. I think there are a few Gen-Xers here who still care about traditional media outlets.

For someone who has a successful business while living in a blue state but refused to move out of it, he sure spent a lot of time whining about national politics. Like ep said, it's all about local politics/elections. Most people, their life has gotten better as they get older regardless of who is president.
He spent a lot of time whining about handouts to black people but not once did he cry about the billions given to corporations.

Although, losing some of the smug Canadian posters pretty much killed much of the dissenting voice against the pro-Trump crowd. Bring back math_is_hard and Catsmasher!

I also always thought rnmr and mih were the same person? One of them once called my sense of humour, “sophomoric”. I couldn’t really disagree, and he didn’t like that I took his insult as a compliment. And speaking of trades, it probably makes sense to dangle you as trade bait. Maybe we could get the only Canadian I really respected back on the scene. Who else would trade jamesod for imsayin?

So if I didn’t know Barry Sanders I may have seen “Sanders 20” and figured it was a political thing. I presume Garth a Brooks is a brain dead liberal schmuck like most of the overprivileged

I presume Garth a Brooks is a brain dead liberal schmuck like most of the overprivileged You can presume whatever you want, even get mad and go beat your redneck stepchild. However, to go on your Facebook and make an outrageous statement based only on presumption, (like Garth is going to read it) when it would be much easier to Google "Sanders #20 jersey" while you have your smart phone in hand, shows how much of a schmuck you and these other who got outraged are. As a matter of fact, at the concert he said he was wearing it in honor of Barry since they went to the same college, Oklahoma St and he was playing... in Detroit. If I didn't know sports and I saw a jersey, I would think, it's probably a guy named Sanders. I would not assume a 99 year old politician had a sport jersey made for someone to wear at a country consert. Considering most country fans lean to the right. However I'm capable of thinking or at least search something before I go on Facebook and show how outraged I am at a musician for what he chose to wear. These are the exact same people you would bash if the tables were turned ya dildo!

Can we draft those Canadian nitwits to run as Democratic presidential candidates? Just to spike the hilarity levels, of course. Probably not realistic; we'd have to drop the Natural Born requirements. But then the Dems don't care about rules (or laws) anyway, do they? For any of you weenies under 50 years old: Bill Ayers -- noted Obama pal and supporter -- was a member of the homegrown political terrorist group The Weathermen (aka The Weather Underground) in the 1960s. From the Wiki entry on Bill Ayers: "He also reiterated his rebuttal to the description of his actions as terrorism despite the use of shrapnel devices:
The Weather Underground went on to take responsibility for placing several small bombs in empty offices... We did carry out symbolic acts of extreme vandalism directed at monuments to war and racism, and the attacks on property, never on people, were meant to respect human life and convey outrage and determination to end the Vietnam war. Peaceful protests had failed to stop the war. So we issued a screaming response. But it was not terrorism; we were not engaged in a campaign to kill and injure people indiscriminately, spreading fear and suffering for political ends."
^^^ CyberRebuttal: Sorry Bill, several people DIED in your bombmaking house when an accidental explosion took the lives of your girlfriend and two others. Your intent becomes irrelevant when someone dies, you idiot!

You would assume a Trump Jersey with the number 20 on it, worn by kid rock, was a sports thing? At any rate, I would have probably consulted google before I talked shit, because I don’t wish to be mocked by dumb asses who can’t even spell “concert.” I understand. The opportunities for you to mock others for being dumber than you are few and far between, so you have to take it where available So anyway, there’s a Jersey still on sale at Walmart.com that says “Obama” and has the number 08 on it. Without consulting google, what are your thoughts? Must be some sports hero named Obama who wears number 8, right?

Are there people who actually find those cartoons funny? I get the political point, but I thought the point of cartoons were to be funny. Otherwise you may as well just type out your point.
It's always insightful to see what the boomer/Facebook generation think is humor. Makes the decisions they make a lot easier to understand.

The difference is, I wouldn't care who wears what jersey. I wouldn't whine about Kid Rock supporting Trump, I don't mind Kid Rock, who is also from Detroit. I wouldn't go on Facebook crying about it. I don't get angry like you over who supports who, I can keep things separate. Do you know how much time you spend watching movies by those liberals you hate? You know damn well these dumb people whining would be cheering had Brooks been wearing a Trump jersey. Most people want other to keep politics out of it, unles they agree with you. The truth is you know Barry Sanders and you know they are sport jerseys above all. I, as well as you, could tell the difference between a legitimate sports jesery and one that's not. You're just being a whiney bitch cause someone poked fun at some dumb whiney people on the right, yet you are constantly poking fun at dumb people on the left.

There's only one person who needs to think these are funny in order for them to appear here. That's me. You're perfectly free to put up some memes mocking conservatives if you want, snowflake. Nobody is censoring you. It's ALSO insightful to discover who has a sense of humor vs. who doesn't. As usual, once again a member of the "tolerant left" gets his panties bunched up over anything that hits home. If you lived nearby, I'd drop by and give ya a hug. And I'm not on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. I am self-aware enough to realize that NO ONE gives a damn what I'm having for lunch. Those are platforms for narcissists.
