Speaking of Werdum, he sure was fighting a can. Even if Lewis didn't pull out, he still would have been fighting a guy that can't match up to him.
Shame Werdum has been ducking JDS the way he has.

Yes he is.
He also is coming off a loss while Werdum is on a streak.

The sound of ruffled feathers in the distance, a swelled face so red it's only rivaled by the ass of a baboon in heat, rises upward the blades of grass. I titantic furry brews...

It is true that they don't happen very often at the highest levels of MMA, but they DO happen quite frequently at lower levels of MMA. Also, I'm not only talking armbars, but any and all joint locks, whether they are varieties of armlocks, kimuras, leg locks of all kinds, etc. There's no question that chokes, particularly rear nakeds and guillotines, and to a lesser extent things like arm triangles and brabos, are the highest percentage subs in MMA, but joint locks do still work, they just seem to be much harder to hit at the highest levels like the UFC and Bellator. I mean an Amateur I know has hit 3 armbars in his last 3 fights in the past year, but again, he's an amateur. So yeah, point taken. I'm just saying they haven't 100% died out. You're going to be a much happier person when you finally accept that BJJ is becoming totally and completely irrelevant to MMA. It's not 1998. Dude, if you think that's true I feel bad that you aren't able to realize what you are watching. Did you not see Ferugson vs Lee, or Werdum's fight, or DJs? Have you not seen nearly ANY fight that has hit the ground lately? Or are you one of those people who believe that only submissions are BJJ? Do you not recognize that anytime anyone achieves sidemount or mount, unless it was straight off a takedown or a knockdown, that it was usually BJJ that allowed them to get the position (sometimes it's wrestling of course) ? Do you noy realize that every defensive movement from bottom guard and bottom half guard are BJJ? Sure, there are a fair amount of wrestling control positions used on the ground in MMA, but by and large, what you see is some combo of BJJ positional control, wrestling positional control, and ground and pound. I could probably watch a 15 minute fight that has only 4 minutes of combined action on the ground and point out to you 20 or more subtleties you are missing that all come from BJJ, to shrimping the hips one way to regain guard, to ways of defending ground and pound, to ways of temporarily trapping an arm or gaining a top position, that you'd miss, and more knowledgable people than me would find more. But what you are saying about fewer joint locks being caught at the highest levels and the UFC is undoubtedly true, except that's not all that BJJ is. And like I said, at the lower levels this stuff happens CONSTANTLY. A training partner of mine armbared his last 3 opponents, despite them being Amateur bouts.

Agree with James. I cant remember the last time BJJ was effectively used in a recent MMA match...

In the future, please remember that any fighter in the UFC who is named Tony must be referred to by their last name around here.
Otherwise I come into threads and think people have been talking shit for weeks and I haven't even noticed.

Much like Michael Keaton is Batman no matter who else is Batman, I'm Tony. I don't care what that fag calls himself.

The upside of that is that you might have thought a lot of people thought you could kick Conor McGregor's ass.
