I know I'm just wearing my flexor tendons out but.... Seriously, if you only have $14.00 to your name, it's time to man the fuck up and go work at McDonalds*. That's ri-god-damn-diculous you fucking loser. Don't give me shit about disabilities, either. McDonalds and Wal-Mart will literally hire anyone with a disability. Cavebear is getting his shit together, why can't you?
My 17 year old works THREE jobs-She's a hostess at a restaurant called Salt Life, she works the counter at Sunrise Surf Shop, AND she started started working at Little Wok. Apparently they pay her under the table and let her keep her tips, so she will probably quit working at Salt Life. She does all this while playing for a travelling volleyball team, and she just got a 31 on her ACT.
*It was time to man the fuck up a LONG time ago, but I digress.

I have applications in at both McDonalds and Wal-Mart, have had constant applications @ both of them for years now. edit: actually thank you, just remembered my Wal-Mart one expires this week and I need to re-apply.

Before you waste any more of your time...on weekly I had found this guy 2 or 3 jobs that stated they would be happy to hire him. I posted all of this. One of the jobs was eager to hear from him. What I didn't post is that I called back one of the jobs that he claimed to have applied to and the guy told me that he hadnt called nor applied. Don't fall for it. I just overlook it.

Kyle, that's amazing that you can do that where you live. I'm jealous, in a very inspirational type of way. I would love to have a freezer full of meat I've hunted. And Elk is delicious. You should start putting in for preference points for Deer, Elk, Antelope and Sheep. It is very inexpensive to put in for points, and as you start accumulating you will set yourself up for hunts later. I have 12 points for Deer, Elk and Antelope and I am going to continue gaining points until my son is 12 - 14, at which point I will have about 20 points and can draw some great hunts that he can go on me with. I need to do some googling, because I don't even know what a preference point is!

Let's not forget Chopper offered him a job selling chocolate... I believe he even said he'd buy him his first pair of shoes.
Hank the Asian offered him his dog grooming equipment...
And Daywork offered him a job working in attics...
Who else am I missing?
It's October aka Croptober, head out to northern California and I'm sure you can get a job trimming for up to $25 an hour.

I need to do some googling, because I don't even know what a preference point is! Every spring you can apply for limited tags throughout the state for all species. Some are guaranteed draws (like A zone for deer) and some are crazy hard to draw like Sheep hunts in Barstow. There are 2 ways to accumulate points... 1) Apply for a tag and get denied and you will get 1 point 2) Purchase a point ($5.00) without applying for a tag. When the drawings come around every year, all applicants names go in to a computer. If I have 10 points, my name goes in 10 times. If you have 0 points, your name goes in 1 time. Then the computer randomly draws peoples names for tags, however as you can see my chances are much higher than you. Even if you don't hunt you can start accumulating points for about $30.00 p/year. When you get to the 6-8 point number for deer, and 10-12 number for Elk/Antelope you have a good chance of drawing a premium tag.

I also need to start hanging out with my friends that hunt more often.

It's none of my business what you do on your own time or how you make your money. But because I actually took some of my own time to give a hand, I wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my time. I was.

Never mind anyway, I reached out to an old company that I used to work for and I guess they got bought out a couple of years ago. I had my first job with them when I was 15 at their Columbia branch.

his beast was just harvested on monday evening. I have a pic with the guy who shot it, but this picture does it more justice. The man who shot it is one of the nicest men I've ever met. I'm very happy for him. Also, 3 weeks ago, my wife almost slaughtered this buck and three other bucks with her car.

That is a beautiful buck.

I've seen a dozen or so bucks within the last few weeks and none have been in velvet.

So I finally bagged my first whitetail this past weekend, just a little 2x2 spiker but man does it feel good to finally get one.
Last year was a bit of a practice run for me so this is really my first real season of big game hunting. I debated letting him go and waiting for a big buck but I got too choosie last year and didn't see anything the last 2 weeks of the season, was not going to let that happen again.
I have spent a considerable amount of time and money pursuing this new obsession and so happy it finally paid off. Now to fill that doe tag this weekend!

Bow season starts October 1st in VA. Cot a couple bucks and a decent size doe on my trial cams. Anybody hunting? Do you butcher and process your own meat or take it somewhere? Any tips for a newb? Any good jerky recipes or venison recipes? I've been a couple times, passed on a doe last year cause it had a ltitle fawn with it and didn't want to leave it motherless but there is a decent size buck, 3 spikes on one side can't tell the other side is only 1 or 2. Comes around almost daily at 8:30am. Gonna get out there at 6:30ish and hopefully catch him coming in. Any other resources you guys use? Where do you hunt in Va? I'm on the SW side near Bristol, TN border.

Well.....
Got my first deer this weekend. Nothing special, just a decent size doe bUT I'm not a trophy hunter, just want the meat. Been butchered, gonna let her soak in ice anf periodically drain it until Wednesday when I can butcher it.
I was happy, it was about 175 yard shot. When we gutted her, she had no semblance of a heart, I blew that puppy out. I was surprised she still ran 50 or so yards with probably half a heart chamber.

It isn't even rifle season, lol. I was on 760 acres of private property in West Virginia so I popped her.
Rifle season comes in this weekend in Virginia but I will only be able to hunt a handful of times because of school. We will be going back to West Va in mid-December though. There is a big ass 10 pointer out there but I think my buddy will get him because they have like 3 or 4 people hunting all next week.

Oh, and I'm not a picture kind of guy, I only care about eating the meat so I didn't take pictures, I'm not even a huge fan of getting a big buck either, I've just never been into it. I can take pictures of her in my cooler though, lol. Maybe if I do get a buck I will post it, even if it just has buttons.

I'm not a picture guy either but needed a pic of my first deer, I'm in it for the meat too. A couple of my hunting partners are concerned with getting a big buck but to me it doesn't matter, just wanted to get that first one. It's not even a trophy thing with these guys they are more interested in a big mature buck as a form of conservation, not the antlers. I guess that can happen when you've hunted 30+ years and taken hundreds of animals but I don't totally get it, different strokes and all that. One guy took video of this 3 pointer just wandering down a the cutline right to him, at about 20 feet he started talking to it and told him he better go somewhere else! I would have plugged the thing no question. Another one videoed a 4 pointer, I was just shaking my head. I doubt I would take another forker like the one in my pic but both of those things would have been dinner if I saw them. Either way, congrats on the first deer.

Thanks man. I can see the conversation aspect. Mine is the shot. I was just driving down the mountain and saw 3 doe just chillin. Jumped out, went prone and popped her through the heart at 175 yards, furthest shot I have ever taken at anything, even a target. Best part is my buddy wad about to shoot a doe when I drove up with mine so I scared them away. Okay, that part is fucked up and I felt bad but it was literally less than 5 minutes after I dropped him off that I shot mine...

some of the greatest times of my life were hunting , which i did until my late 20's, my Dad said never drink and hunt, i never did, not once, nor the night before. i loved bear hunting, ive been close many times, but never got one. the closest i got was one about 40 yards away. i was actually bored, built a small fire and was making grilled cheese lol. when a young bear walked right by me. Dad also said never shoot a cub (which we can shoot in Pa.), i thought this bear was maybe 100lbs, i passed, but someone a couple hundred yards away shot it. i was right, saw the dude at a weigh station later that night and the bear weighed 98lbs. i hadnt spent over a decade chasing these fukers (literally) to shoot a bear smaller than most deer ive shot.
im itching to deer hunt again, i can use a rifle or a cross bow on a rest, i just need the right people around me to help me do this. its gonna happen.
great job floyd.....

If you have a bow, there is a guy in my area who makes an accessory for disabled people. You can use the bow just like a crossbow. It keeps the compound bow ready to fire until you need it. Let me know if you are interested and I can find out how much it is. Or if you have a crossbow then don't worry about it I suppose.
I would not know what it is like to hunt and not drink. We are not drunk when we go out but the weekend we go through about two cases of beer, just me and my buddy
