As a continuation of the discussion we had about defense spending in the Trump thread, I saw we just sent some of the new F35's to Europe. The article states that we'll spend eventually 400 billion dollars on these, because we committed to buy ................2,443 of them 2,443 fucking ultra expensive stealth fighters When would we ever even need 100 of those? Are we planning on going to war with the Klingons or something? At least 2,000 of those are going to sit on an air field, or in some hanger, collecting dust....forever. Why do we keep doing this? I already know the answer. Because companies like Lockheed own our politicians. That's why Anyone still doubt that?

The only thing Trump brought to the equation was to lower the cost per plane and threaten Lockheed that he could take the business to Boeing. If they own Trump, why would he come into his presidency and review these EXISTING contracts and out them on price? That makes zero sense and is the exact opposite of your criticism. Trump is the first President I can ever recall addressing government contracts and his review is either directly or coincidentally driving costs down. This is not an area where he deserves criticism but instead praise. As for the larger issue of massive DOD contracts? Yeah, there is probably a lot of shady shit going on and lawmakers signing off on appropriating money that needs review. And guess who is the first politician to address this on a national stage? Trump. thehill.com/policy/defense/317792-lockheed-pentagon-reach-deal-on-next-90-f-35sLockheed Martin and the Pentagon have reached an agreement to buy 90 F-35 fighter jets, with the defense contractor crediting the reduced price per unit to President Trump's involvement in the deal.

But if they own our politicians why would Trump out them on price? Unless you mean they own most politicians but are now running into a President not as likely to play ball? And if that's the case, isn't this finally good news for you? And, I thought the big concern of yours was bankers owned all the politicians. So now it's bankers and defense contractors?

It's always been both. That upper one percent we always hear mentioned. That's them When we have these land wars that last a decade and wonder "why the hell are we still at this?" That's them When we see defense budgets get raised by hundreds of billions, like your boy Trump did. That's them When you see me not worried about world ravaging nuclear war ever being possible? That's them. Because they won't let that happen. They have too much at stake and too much sway in how things go to ever let it get there. Hell they literally print our money. That's not some out there theory, that's a fact. The Federal Reserve is owned by bankers. Bankers who's families own the biggest corporations as well, like defense contract companies. Bankers who are smart enough to diversify and hide their wealth so it doesn't all show up under their name so we don't see them on some Forbes list You think Trump is really standing up to THAT? Standing up to that would be more like a guy that wanted to print money from Fort Knox instead of the Federal Reserve. And also deny our participation in an oversees land war that was going to last 10 years and make those contractors billions. Remember that guy? Remember what happened to him?

The left was never about free speech and expression and tolerance. The Berkeley protestors today are the same as in the 1960s when they were spitting on returning soldiers and bombing the pentagon. The Black Lives Matter degenerates today are no different than the civil rights "protestors" marching with Martin Luther Kang. There was no YouTube back then, but you can still find plenty of footage of cars burning and stores looted. As heavily edited as they are, they still show that the end result was the same, and in fact I'm pretty sure that the violence was worse under Saint Mawtin Been thinking about this a lot and done some reading. I still somewhat agree with you, but want to caveat that in the 60s the left had a platform. A specificity and focus that made the revolt palatable and even convincing. Being singularly against Vietnam or specifically against segregation is a respectable position, antics aside. Today, no such focus exists. Today it's become a confused ADHD tantrum aimlessly shifting between Wall St and BLM and LBGTQ and sexism and Fascism and whatever the offense de jure happens to be. It's become increasingly child like and blurry, as though it were spurred on more by boredom or behavioral issues than by an actual, substantive cultural issues. In 1960 there was a problem and a goal. Today, you put a mic in their face and it's the ravings of a madman. It's become a goddamned temper tantrum. It was an aimless, ADD freak show temper tantrum then. The ONLY difference is that the ONLY video being shot was being shot by co-conspiring media, and in actuality the shit in the 1960s was by many accounts even worse than today, because those schmucks knew they weren't being recorded. Testimonials from actual eyewitnesses and reformed hippies attest to this, especially in the race riots in the south during MLK's holy crusade. Their mission was to antagonize and shock the good and noble people into wholly justified acts of violence, and then let the media do its magic. if the media had information on lockdown today, as they did circa 1965, very reasonable people would be aligning with BLM etc

Defense contractors, like many corporations and contractors, absolutely gouge the government and the government is HAPPY to slip into bed and go a few rounds, and nobody notices 90% of it. Every now and then some absurd detail will leak out and go viral, like 3,000 stealth fighters or a $300 toilet seat (remember that one?), but again, nobody cares . . . not for more than 48 hrs, anyway.
And, nobody will stop it. Going broke and falling into ruin will stop it. And even then the cause of the ruin won't be understood or disseminated, much like the people eating stray dogs in Venezuela right now who believe it was somehow America's fault.
From now until the end of time America will not need 2,400 stealth fighters. But half the senate ran successful re-election campaigns on contractor contributions, and will continue to do so for the next several decades until they get caught having gay sex in a public toilet or get cancer and die. Nobody leaves Washington. And nobody resists her allure. There is no Mr. Smith. There is no u-turn. There is only the frantic, flailing effort to slow the overpowering inertia into the abyss.
Separation of church and state was the wrong separation. It's economy and state, the ability to buy and sell the lawmakers, that we should have separated long ago.

Communists advocate for the complete unification of economy and state. I just advocated for the complete separation thereof. How do you run a communist (or any variation of statist: socialist, fascist, dictatorship) government if there is zero interaction between the economy and the government?

See this picture here?... THIS is why you don't have to take North Korea seriously. Everyone gets a cute chest high pistol, an AR with an underslung grenade launcher, cool looking camo face paint, sunglasses, night vision goggles.....because those two things go so well together, and a boss looking neck gaiter That's not intimidating. That's just President Pull-your-yang customizing his character in real life Call of Duty One of my partners whom is a security contractor (think: blackwater) looked at this today and LOL'd pretty hard. That underslung grenade launcher is a tube magazine, high capacity, famous for jamming up; the pistol is something like a 1940s model Soviet .45, which would make it around 75 yrs old; the rifle is Chinese or Russian, generic AK knock off, wildly inaccurate, near impossible to reload, repair, or control; and apparently everyone has gone to the single lens night vision goggles for several years now. This is the equivalent of raiding a 1970s Chinese/Russian military surplus yard sale. Fish in a barrel.

Wouldn't it be easier with a dual or are they trying to negate the effect of flares/flash grenades? JROD?

Versatility for the most part. Batteries become a non issue with the mono. You can use it several different ways, mounting to a helmet, gun etc.

Good question. Tapout's response makes sense. He just said they aren't used anymore, something about depth perception? He basically said this entire get-up is a hodge-podge of shit the Chinese army sent to Good Will because superior tech came on the market and everyone in the first world upgraded a long time ago. In essence, this battalion is going to perform about as well as a NoKo missile launch.
