I fucking relapsed I mean Jesus Christ I think Kyle is right I'm weak...jesus What about trying to go mostly off the grid? Find yourself a cheap 100$ acre in the middle of nowhere that has access to ISP/Electric lines. Order two 40' shipping containers (2k each) but throw them together and build a house out of them so you can mortgage it out dirt cheap. Travel into town for shopping like once or twice a week. Just basically for 6 months to a year stick to that and a non-drug hobby. Maybe find a spot of land that near a pond you can fish in. Mortgage it out? Do shipping containers fly to these spots magically? No, they require shipping and stabilization when you put them down. Have you ever cut into a shopping container? Or used one in any way what so ever?

Booze, but no drugs?
It could have been worse. Back on that horse Jim. Sobriety looks good on you, dust yourself off and keep moving forward.

Or used one in any way what so ever? I just started the fabrication process on our first container. Cutting these things is a bitch. Easier with a torch. I couldn't imagine turning these things into living space. And if you've got zero experience, good luck. I'm fortunate to have friends with the necessary experience to put this monstrousity together. If I were working alone one container would take a full work week to complete.

I may or may not know some one that has had a couple of these buried in his backyard for about 15 years now. There is a place called Steelcraft that just opened out here. Old vacant lot was built on using only containers. They are slam packed every time I drive by. Pizza and craft beer, served outdoors in makeshift patios in between the converted containers. I know that people convert these into living spaces but I wouldn't want to live in one. Pain in the ass.

He could hire someone to do it, costs about 500$ for the foundation per container, and another 8k-ish combined to get it all wired up for electric and plumbing if you were having it designed as a house. You can have them delivered pretty much anywhere in the country for under 1k (for a 40'). If he's doing it to live out of, he can do what a lot of younger couples do now and mortgage that out dirt cheap. 600sqft more than enough for CB to be comfy, and CB can probably be self-sufficient enough to stay off the grid enough to dry out and slow his reintegration back into society.

Any container you can find for 1k has holes, corrosion issues, and was made with sub par steel that could have impurities like lead in them. Not a place to be living.
The best used ones are single trip containers that are rust and lead free.
And they cost about 2k, without the delivery charge. I have 9 more coming.

They were 25% off bulk orders of 10+ I think. Price plummets for WWT which most of the time is just based on age, but I'd never use anything but 1-trip or CWO for residential use. Probably be next to impossible to insure if you did otherwise because of the risks. Regardless, the whole thing was just a an idea to help Cavebear out. It isn't for everyone, but he needs to try something new and his Vet benefits probably more than enough to cover the cost of it.

Do you guys use old potato skins as slippers to keep your feet warm when it's a cold winter morning inside your shipping container?!

Fuck that. Buy this: Like 3 grand. Get an outhouse, dig a deep hole and later put in a well. Done. Granted it won't be to code but fuck it.

I started looking into them a awhile back as a last resort if we lost the apartment a way for Jess and the dogs to have a place which is why I know so many of the prices, cost, timeframe. Here is an example of what can be done (this wasn't shipping containers but you can do the same with them actually but with better insulation and an extra 200-ish sqft)

$2200. Has plumbing and electric already set up. Just need a friend with a pickup to move.

Another. little more expensive. $3800 Not a bad idea for Bear I think. A 6-12 month sorta hiatus from physical world barring shopping trips.

Ha to each their own. I personally always liked the look of Tuscan and Spanish-style roofs. Hell those style houses in general, and of course the nicer Vietnamese style bungalows at the start of a pier.

If you look closely you can see some people in the backyard of that container using some stale tortillas as frisbees.

RVs are like boats; expensive but resale cheap (partially because everything breaks). You should see what my dad got for $5000.00, and after I looked around on craigslist, he could have done even better. If you dont care if it drives, and can live without being able to run your air conditioner on propane, you could spend less than 10K on three of them, and just park them out on your land and use them together as your "house." Edit: dad got a 24 ft trailer, not a motor home

I'm thinking of getting some hunting land and was thinking about plopping one down on the property until I can build buy no A.C. is a deal breaker because I'm a pussy when it gets in the 90s. My father-in-law can toe it for me.

My father-in-law can toe it for me. You can, but if you buy a used one, it will soon break and need to be fixed. My dad's works on both, but his A/C went out so he just got a window unit and runs it off a generator when he camps, which is never, like everyone else, which is why the shit deteriorates and stops working

So get the hell up again and start another sober streak. I am bro. Bottom line is I don't stop fighting. People can judge, but I don't quit. This ain't a fist fight This is a fight for my life. I'm not done. What will it take for you to wake the fuck up? I mean, you've lost your arm and almost lost your life. You've said that your liver is all fucked up too. Can you find anything in your life that is worth living for? It seems like you thrive on this shit. Reading that Tony says you post about it all the time on Facebook, it makes it seem like you want the attention. I'm not trying to be a dick here but I don't know a way to tiptoe around the issue either. If you keep it up, you will die so you need to find that something that makes it all worth it or you will fall into a self-loathing state of mind and fuck up again. I'm pulling for you but honestly my hopes aren't high and I will probably have you in the 2018 death pool... okay, the last sentence was me being a dick.
