Everything the left says is a lie. Every. Thing. The wage gap is a huge issue. WSJ just published a study showing female CEOs make MORE than male counterparts. There's another study that shows single women 18-27 also make more and are hired at higher rates than their male counterparts. Apples to apples the wage gap might actually be reversed. Only women in their 30s who take time off for children, refuse to work overtime or relocate, refuse to negotiate for promotions that would change their domestic situation, in essence, women who consciously morph the conversation into an apples vs oranges situation, these women may see a small pay gap, but it's a gap between them and people who work more, take less time off, are more productive and better at negotiating promotions, and are willing to travel. That's not a pay gap, that's common sense. Voter suppression is another one. I've heard this tripe more times than I care to recount. Having a valid ID is suppression? You pay bills, drive, get any benefits, rent a movie, buy beer without an ID? Really? You think you can vote in Germany or England or France or Sweden without an ID? So, we start to look into it . . . ultimate shocker: there is no voter suppression, but there is illegal immigrant voting (Virginia investigation) and illegal out-of-district and double-voting (New York investigation) as well as voter fraud (voting as someone else, as dead people, as people who've moved out of state - second New York investigation) on a significant scale. Investigators who attempted to commit voter fraud has a 97% success rate. A lot like investigators who tried to smuggle weapons past the TSA. Just like with the wage gap, when you look into this, the "gap" is actually in the reverse direction. It's not suppressed, it's exaggerated. Global warming. The Paris Accord. It's hugely important. Maybe the most important thing we as humans can do. Except . . . it's complete bullshit. China is exempt from any action for the next 30 fucking years. India does nothing. Russia does nothing. South America does nothing. The worst contributors on the planet get a free pass. And people who are already engaged in the emissions-reducing game are slammed, and the cumulative efforts of this slamming? Dick. Unless and until China, India, and Russia start playing ball, this is globalist circle jerking at it's finest, and a serious hampering of our industry for no empirical benefit to the environment. You're not helping.  Racism is another pet issue for the left. But a recent study showed that when thousands of people world wide were polled, people in the US care less about the potential race/religion of a hypothetical neighbor than people in Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia do. America's problem with race, much like the wage gap myth, is actually more evolved and overcome than the rest of our peers. America is one of the least racist places on the planet. You can go through the whole list. Issue after issue. It's outright propaganda. It's just demonstrably false. Not only false, but like profoundly false, even to the extent that the truth lies opposite of their claims in many cases. And none of them care. The narrative is all there is. Data, arguments, compromise . . . a progressive knows not of these things. They just get louder. Angrier. More sure of their truth. Been to a campus lately?  I fully acknowledge you can make similar arguments on the right, and you certainly could do so 10-15 years ago with the evangelical movement, but today the biggest threat to free speech, tolerance, openness, and reality-based culture is the left, hands down. And now that they're seemingly ok with mass spying and war mongering, I'm not even sure what the point is anymore? Mandatory transgender bathrooms? The left is a fucking spectacle in 2017. Baph's posts can sometimes feel like you're reading a transcript of an empassioned politician's rousing speech. The descriptions of feelings and impressions are always more powerful in impact when they describe the feelings the reader is already experiencing. It creates an emotional lure to continue reading. The same does not hold true for a more text book style of "fact" reporting. I do not care that Baph is also successful off board. His writing is immersive and he conveys both thought and feeling better than most anyone here. Have Sporty buy you some OnIt. Maybe that will draw some colorful feeling into your prose. |
