It was mentioned. I watched his press conference this afternoon. This is most likely only going to increase the size of his audience in the long run. Obviously they were sitting on this, it was from July of 2016. But he gets on Maher and starts getting more attention....invited to speak at CPAC....and a book already on the best seller list, so unleash the edited video from last year. He did a good job explaining himself and taking responsibility for the two specific things he said that were not in line with his actual beliefs. But it's so obvious that this was a hatchet job, right down to Soros funding the left wing podcast that one statement was made in, and CPAC itself having strong financial ties to the right wing Reagan Battalion blog that released another of the videos. Sure, I'll agree with some of the above. However: Now, in that video, he does state that the legal age of consent is 'about right'. But then he proceeds to state that it's possible for 13 year old 'sexually mature' boys to consent to sucking the dick of an adult man, effectively. This coming from a man who has admitted to being molested by his priest at a young age, and stated (in the very same video) that he thanks the priest for teaching him how to suck cock so well. You're aware that the source of this video is a conservative blog? A conservative blog released the clip of this video, not some leftist media organization out for blood. Would you say that the CPAC was wrong to have removed him? Really? That is disgusting. Now if we were talking about 13 year old girls, it would be different. I mean, girls mature faster than boys.

Found some dirt . . . on a 4-5 month old Rogan podcast that a million people heard live and didn't think anything of, including myself, because in the context of the show, which is like two fucking hours, they literally just riff like this on 27 different topics, and a good 70% of it is clearly, blatantly satirical, shock jock, provocative, tongue-in-cheek Milo doing what he does . . . ruffle feathers, push boundaries, test limits, make people uncomfortable with taboo subjects and irreverence. He did the same thing on Maher when he said gay people are unreliable. "Too much drugs and sex. Never show up on time. They're almost as bad as women." This is what provocateurs do. They provoke. I watched this podcast quite a while ago and the only thing that bothered me is that he's still a Catholic, which is weird. I legit think he like the pomp and ritual and costumes of it all. He's talked about doing ketamine and sucking black dicks for years now.

The town right next to mine is called Ogunquit. It has the largest gay population in the state of Maine. I have been to bars in Ogunquit

Yeah, big shocker I'm sure. Do gay people scare you, Cup? Because despite being the best looking guy here, they don't scare me at all. Their bars are usually more entertaining than your standard bro-sportsbar. Plus, my wife likes to dance and I don't. So she gets to go dance with some of the gay folks we're friends with and I get to talk to the homos about weed and MMA and how awesome Trump is and how the place really goes to shit in May when the Massholes start to show back up.

I saw that and then remembered that I actually watched that episode when he said it, and I laughed at the whole thing because it was intended as a joke. I guess Milo doesn't get the same freedom of speech that Maher does. From Milo:

More Maher:
Maher even went out of his way to downplay the molestation charges against Michael Jackson. “The worst they said he did was a little grabby-grabby under the covers,” he said.
“Don’t get me wrong. It’s a crime,” he continued. “You shouldn’t be able to grab a kid that age, but when I heard about it, all I could think of was my being brutally beaten up on the playground when I was 12 — a kid punching me in the face while another held me down. If I could go back and trade that experience for being gently masturbated by a pop star, I would do it in a New York second.”

I watched the video. I get his point. I don't agree but understand what he was saying. He isn't condoning pedophilia or pederasty. He was saying that the left's rigid worldview of consent is, well rigid. The whole notion of consent can get muddy (which the Drunken Peasant guy agreed with) and saying "blank age is the right age of consent" isn't understanding the intricacies of human behavior.

Milo literally predicted this while on Maher, when he said it's a double standard (and Maher agreed, and used the Joan Rivers jokes as evidence). When your politics are persevered as conservative, it's cut-throat. When you're liberal, it's kid gloves and nervous laughter, and then forget it happened. This is how Obama gets to crack down on whistle-blowers and spy on the AP and stay in war for 8 years and nobody gives a fuck . . . now watch a conservative do that and it's nuclear fucking holocaust.

The problem is that it was the evangelical right that was behind throwing Milo under the bus. Not really the left. I have a couple people on Facebook that hate Milo for parading as a Conservative (even though he did not) and laughed when his book deal got squashed.

And now we have Bill Maher's past coming to haunt him. But, we are all accustomed to the double standard and you know the radical left hate mongers will never hold this against their hero Bill. 90% of my facebook friends are liberals, more Bernie supporters than anything else. What can I say, all my life-long friends are musicians and hippies. I've never seen a single one of them say anything supportive of Maher. I, myself, think he's smug, unfunny, and unwatchable. I literally don't know anyone who supports this guy, let alone would call him a hero. Are the rest of you having different experiences? Are you seeing him routinely held out by the left as some hero? I can't fathom thinking of Maher as a hero, regardless of your political leanings. I know it's a matter of taste, but seriously, he's unwatchable.

Is it a liberal position that there should be an age of consent? I thought that thinking was pretty universal in the US. The idea that the age of consent "isn't understanding the intricacies of human behavior" is true, certainly, but a bit silly. None of our laws fully reflect the intricacies of human behavior. I'm an excellent driver with great reflexes. I should be able to drive 85 on the highway. My mom is old and her reflexes are shot. She shouldn't drive faster than 55. Yet, we have one speed limit and that's 70 mph. Because... that's how laws fucking work. On the whole pedophile thing, I do agree that our world view is a bit problematic. There's a difference between a 40 year old pedophile molesting an 8 year old ("8 year olds, Dude!") and an 18-year old guy sleeping with a willing 15-year old girl. I'm 100% fine with both being illegal. I'm not quite so fine with both being labeled pedophilia or both being treated as crimes of the same magnitude. I'm not really up on how states view sex crimes, so I don't know if those two situations are treated the same. And I'm at work so I'm not googling that question. But if they are treated as crimes of the same magnitude, I think that's a problem.

Feel like most of his show is just "blah, blah, blah.'. I don't think I've ever seen him and his panel come to a legit conclusion, change anyone's minds, or come up with some epic society changing rhetoric. It's the same shit every show. I too, have mostly Bernie loving, "progressive" friends. I don't think many of them are really that high on Mahr.

I would see people quoting and repeating Jon Stewart but people don't quote Bill Maher. He does seem to have specific congressmen and hollywood that are very supportive, but that's no different than Bill O"Reilly.

What I took from it (knowing Milo's positions) wasthe rigid worldview of consent that the left pushes: me and a girl meet up over some drinks and have sex. That is rape from hardcore feminists. If the girl regrets it later, that is rape etc. I know it seems out in left field in this conversation but that is what Milo has argued in the past and I think that was his point (about the rigid left). As for your speed limit law. I don't care, you agreed about consent laws. Even if "silly."

Liberals don't hold him out as a hero because he's well understood to be an asshole. John Stewart (even bigger asshole, but not as smart) is regarded as acceptable and mainstream, but I don't know why (other than that he has a team of two dozen writers). Liberals parrot Maher's schtick the same way a person might parrot David Duke: without citation

Anyone who has seen more than 4-5 YouTube vids of Milo knows what this was . . . because that's his schtick: contrarian shock value performance art not unlike pearl bracelets and bleached hair and a lolly pop and an indian head dresses at the cultural appropriation talk and his gay pride parade through the muslim ghetto in sweden. This is what the dude does. Life on the knife's edge. Brazenly pushing buttons everyone else is afraid to push. Testing and strengthening the limits of free, unpopular, offensive speech which is vital to our fucking society and especially vital during a season of stifling political correctness.

Personal anecdotes about nobody on your friends list watching Maher are not very compelling as he's had a nationally televised political talk show for 24 years now and HBO isn't in the business of losing money. He's put out half-a-dozen books, a documentary, he's a producer for Vice, and he's on the board of directors for PETA, and he's a notorious schmoozer. He's highly plugged in to the machine in a multitude of ways and is a very influential figure on the left. Not sure if hero is the right word . . . maybe bulldog is better.

I'm far from a liberal, but I've either watched or listened to Maher's show on podcast in some form or another for like the last 10 years. I don't usually agree with the guy, but I've always enjoyed the show. And I do think he's a funny stand up (or used to be, haven't seen any recent material.)
Liberals don't hold him up as a hero because he's "anti-muslim." Remember when Ben Affleck came on and looked like an idiot arguing about muslims with him?
I learned long ago to not let liberal hypocrisy get in the way of a good time. Just don't let it rot your brain. Same with conservative hypocrisy for that matter (though I've never been able to get into a Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly type. I just dig comedy more.)

Sorta like how the DNC basically forbade Tom Daschle from speaking at a lot of engagements because he was pro-life. Having a different view than the party line as a Republican is acceptable, but as a Democrat it gets you blacklisted.

A large contengent of my social media contacts are related to atheist message boards and my near decade in college, so it's very liberal as well, and I can report utter paranoia at the Trump doomsday, daily crying wolf, chicken little lunacy . . . seemingly oblivious to the fastest 1,000 pt spike in Dow Jones history, 10 straight days of record highs in the market, and weekly meetings with business leaders who come out gushing about unprecedented focus, attention, and interaction directly from the president and his senior staff. The head of Dow chemical came out today and said in 15 years he's never seen anything like this. They were in the room for several hours, broke out into topical discussion groups with the appropriate dept secretary in each group, had direct conversations with Trump including agenda setting, time lines, short and long term goals for growth. He literally said the language of business is being spoken in the White House and when that's happening you can overlook a lot of things. If Obama was doing shit like this, the media would be fucking RAVING. It's funny. I still have some issues with Trump, but the paranoid ravings are starting to get tired and hollow and the sky isn't falling, the wolves aren't at the door, and Russia hasn't taken over the lower 48. I mean . . . get a new act, right?

I still have some issues with Trump, but the paranoid ravings are starting to get tired and hollow and the sky isn't falling, the wolves aren't at the door, and Russia hasn't taken over the lower 48. I mean . . . get a new act, right? I think the issue is that a large chunk of the population is starting to focus on the social side of things and say fuck it to the economics. Why is this? Who knows, probably differs from person to person. I think primarily four reasons. 1. People moving away from material/consumer orientated society. Focusing more on how they are living their life. I think part of this is because of the over-saturation of advertisements. 2. This newer generation+ has come up under pretty horrible economic conditions compared to the past. Probably leaves them with a feeling of it just won't get better so I'd rather focus on living a life that gives them some semblance of peace/happiness rather than success. 3. The social shit affects your day to day life in a much more noticeable way for most people, and for most it is easier to picture long-term the effects of social policies/actions compared to say the long-term effects of economic policies. 4. More people are realizing that technology is changing fundamentals in our society more than anytime in the last 100 years+. It is very obvious that we are getting to the point where human-based infrastructure is no longer needed. When we hit that point, an economy means fuck all (at least an Earth-based economy), and it becomes an ego game of who can discover what first to propel us even further. At that point, all these trade/business/economic policies vanish and we are stuck with leaders who focus on social policies. Regardless of how much Trump/Hillary/anyone fucks us the economy, we are gonna hit that point and it does make sense that we should hit that point in a position where we are socially free. This is also one of the reasons why this country is primed and ready for a legit conservative/libertarian/whatever hybrid, and none of this Republican/Democrat liberal shit. Gonna wind up pleasing an overwhelming majority of the population. Most Republicans don't actually agree with the party's social views, most Democrats don't agree with their economic views. So bam, combine them, let everyone live the life they want to, and have a chance at prosperity at the same time.

There's never a "did you hear what Maher said last night" conversation the way there was about Jon Stewart when he had his own show. I'm sure there's slivers of gold in there somewhere, but I'm not wading through piles of his shit to hopefully come across that gold.
