Yeah, that theory just has too many holes in it. We all know I love a crazy Ice and Fire theory but I try my ass off to find evidence in the books or show to back it up. A lot of my crazy theories are just because a lot of the stuff has been figured out, in my opinion. I try to read the books and come up with new ideas as to where things could be heading. I try to look at alternatives to popular theories and go somewhere else. A lot of the more accepted theories are pretty much set in stone, though. I mean the big ones. R+L=J is for sure. I'm thinking A+J=T is also looking damn good given the Tyrion interaction with the dragons last season.
With this, you have a few circumstantial things that you can maybe tie into Lyanna having twins. You get Ned taking one and Howland Reed taking the other. The problem is, that's the only evidence for it and it's completely assumed. There isn't any text, not one line, in the books to suggest Lyanna had twins. Twins are common in the Targaryen genes, that's true. Basically it's just like, "Targs have twins... Lyanna could've had two... Ned and Howland both survived... uhh..." and that's the entire theory. For the show, you have even less/more evidence with Kit and Ellie kind of maybe resembling one another... as far as hair goes. Just a real shit theory with no meat to it.
Even outside of theories, the books are just full of crazy shit that you don't notice until you've read them a bunch. I didn't notice the gravedigger Brienne meets is The Hound until my third time around. Hell, on my last read through A Storm of Swords (I think this is the 9th time) I realized that Robb died twice. I never noticed that until now. He dies at the Red Wedding, wargs into Grey Wind and then tries to escape with Raynald Westerling. He allegedly kills like four Freys or whatever but is eventually killed there, too. There are just a couple of throwaway passages (one might even be someone remembering in A Feast For Crows) about how the wolf suddenly went apeshit. That's when Robb warged into it... and got his dumb ass fucking killed again.

Shit, the year is almost over. If they would had kept the regular schedule, we would be 3, 4 months away from the show. instead of 6 or 7 months now.

LA, you're making me really jones for that next book, by talking about all this stuff Can't wait till he finishes it. What-do-ya think, 2028, 2029 or somewhere about? This is just a crazy assumption but given the way he was hinting at MAJOR progress and then just kind of shut down, I think he's finished with it or at least in his own editing process. I think Trump winning the presidency just pissed him off and he threw a tantrum and just stopped doing anything. He's literally that upset by it. He seemed real cheerful and positive all year, now he acts like 2016 is the worst year in human history. Said he just can't wait to get one of the most difficult years of his life behind him. He didn't give off any vibes like that at all. Not once this year... until November 9th. The man is literally crushed because Hillary Clinton isn't the next president. What does that have to do with Winds? I don't really know and probably nothing, to be honest. I don't know how long you've followed him (or if you read his blog at all) but he gave a lot of updates to the public about his progress on A Dance With Dragons. He started hinting to everyone that he was nearly finished about two and a half years before the book actually released. He doesn't do that anymore but he says similar things now and then in PMs. The same kind of stuff he said about Dance when in reality he was years out from completion. He's really only ever said two things about it. The most recent was in late September. He calls The Winds of Winter the "Son of Kong" and he was talking about him and Parris taking a nice, long vacation once the Son of Kong had been slain. In the context he seemed like that was soon and he was actually planning a vacation for the two of them. A few months before that, around the time that new illustrated version of A Game of Thrones came out, he said there was another Ice and Fire book (the big one, as he called it) that just needed a little bit of opalescence to get it to the launch pad. I had to look up what the fuck opalescence meant, but that sounds really positive. I made it a big point not to say that stuff to anyone but Kimi but fuck it, I really don't think he'd mind and this is just our little corner of the web. Not something I'd throw on Facebook or on any of the sites where Ice and Fire is the main discussion but I don't see the harm in talking about this stuff here. We're just internet bros so I don't think he'd trust me with some big info or throw something like that by me if it was some big deal. So, I don't know, brother. Take that for whatever it's worth. I got pretty damn excited at first. A few days later I was just browsing around the Ice and Fire subreddit and saw the Dance of Dragons publication history which is just his public blog updates about his progress on it. That'll deflate you pretty fast because he said shit just like that, maybe even more so, and wasn't even close. I like to be hopeful here, though. He really seemed like he was more or less finished in September. I personally believe he is. I like to think he is finished with it and is just going back and forth with Anne Groell (I know he met with her a week or two before he spoke about planning a vacation) at this point about what goes in the book and what doesn't. That phase of the game has taken under a month for the last two books. Anyway, with all that, it leads me to believe it's finished. I just think he got it back, was at that point where he gives the final ok and then Trump won and he decided fuck 2016, Winds isn't releasing in this year. I really think that's what happened. I'm sure he gave them a different reason like saying there was one more thing he wanted to do or whatever but I think the truth is he absolutely REFUSING to have his book release in the same year that "President Pussygrabber" won the election. He is legit depressed, deflated and completely infuriated by the election. It's shocking how upset he is. Fingers crossed the Giants snapping Dallas' eleven game win streak will persuade him to get busy or just get the fucker out. I'm hoping on New Years we'll get that big update but who knows? We could be a year or two away with him. Oh, and sorry for this giant ass post about nothing but one more thing... I'm literally theorizing about random conversations with George. No longer just making theories about his writing but one about his writing process. There is no coming back when you're this deep in the rabbit hole, lol. I have to thank you though Patty, you're the one who convinced me to read this and it's literally been one of the most enjoyable things that's ever happened to me. I appreciate the push from you to read these. They fucking changed my life. They are my bible!

I didn't know I got you to read them, but I'm glad you did. You sure have gotten a lot out of them and it's made for some great discussion
And as much as I kid that that next book is never coming out, it's always while secretly hoping it might actually be right around the corner

Not exactly earth-shattering or timely, but GRRM did at least talk about TWOW in the comments section of Not a Blog last week. He responded to questions on an update, somewhat sarcastically. However, he did at least say,
" You really think statements like that would make a difference? Ah, you sweet summer child. I have years of experience with this that tells me otherwise.
But okay, I will try it your way.
Not done yet, but I've made progress. But not as much as I hoped a year ago, when I thought to be done by now.
I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year). "
It's not much, but its always nice when he at least acknowledges a bit of progress along the way. I'm in the camp that is fine just anxiously waiting. I do hope that it gets done sooner than later as a fan.
With that I'm back out, since I don't watch the show, and do avoid it when possible. I'll go back and watch it someday (after the books are done in 15 years) and then I'll come and bump this thread again.

I'd settle for just the book, rimshot. I'm one of the sorry few that don't watch the show and wait for the books. I'll watch the show someday perhaps.

On the subject of getting an actual trailer, they released some photos today, and so far, without fail, that's always meant a trailer was around the corner
Said photos to follow....

Based on the throne she sat on during that teaser I would agree, but still . . . fun thought there and that moment is no doubt coming.

Half way through season 6, mehh. Loved all the others but am semi bored with season 6, like a midevil Days of our lives so far. Man, are you in for a surprise And I expect nothing less, Game of Thrones always end up delivering in that fashion. I'm someone who usually finds the filler episodes just as riveting as the more eventful episodes, but so far it's been all filler and imo lackluster compared to past seasons in that department. I'm not trying to bitch. It's still been solid and I expect big things to come. Starting episode 6 now.

I'd rank episodes 2, 4 and 5 ahead of those for sure. 6, 7 and 8 are just a lot of buildup. BUT...for good reason. Because 9 and 10? Without spoiling anything....my favorite two episodes of the show, ever
