I hope you make it back. Vegas to me is a 3 day max trip. Relatively speaking, I don't even party that hard anymore (which sounds weird bc I'm only 39 and you're going to be a man, you're 40) but a week sounds really really long to me. You'll definitely get a good taste for it. On the 3rd day, I recommend a long sleep. If it times up right (there is no time in Vegas) go for a walk on the strip at an off time like sunrise, or be sober at 2am or something. Get out of sync with everyone and everything and observe for a bit.

Going to the smoky mountains for veterans day weekend. The holiday falls on a Saturday so I get Friday off. Short Friday to Sunday trip. I was going to make the 12 hour drive. But found a Spirit flight to Atlanta for 48 bucks round trip! That will save me 8 hours of driving. Even with the airfare cost and renting a car in ATL, it won't be much more than the gas I would had spent. But it will save me 8 hours driving time each way. Pefect for a short weekend trip. Anyone been to the area? Any recomendations? Booked a suite in this hotel. Way up in the mountains. Deer Ridge resort. If I were you I'd roll a few and just enjoy that view. Christ that looks amazing!!!

Has a weird tweaker energy about the place to me. Can't handle it for too long. Imo, it's the ultimate for the person longing for gluttony. I'm just not that guy.

Just got back from that trip to the Smoky mountains.
One of those trips where everything went perfect. To start things up, we really wanted to go up there for the fall colors. Usually the peak week for it its the last week of October. But our trip was 2 weeks later. Well, some shit happened this year about the summer being too hot and the leaves turning being late. We got there in full peak. Ill post some pictures once I get them off my good camera.

Off to Maui tomorrow. Hoping it's as nice as it was 12 years ago when I was there last.

Maui was alright... definitely more crowded and more built up than the last time I was there. Nice to get away from the winter and have a week of sun and warm water. Kids had a blast, got to catch some Tuna and snorkel around some sea turtles with my son. Ate some decent food, although the service at every restaurant was bad.
Stayed at the Hanua Kai resort, which all in all was really nice and I would recommend over the other hotels in the typical strip in Kaanapali

Went to the Poconos mountains in PA this weekend. My boy just bought a cabin out there. Didn't do any snow sports, but chilled at the cabin with a bunch of old friends. Got to see a ton of snow....dig out the car, shovel the driveway, etc. Haven't done anything like that since I moved from KC back in 2013. I flew to Philly. We spent a whole day and visited all the historic spots (Liberty Bell, independence hall, the us mint, etc) Their Chinatown is pretty legit. Ate some good dim sum. We visited the Reading Terminal Market. Huge indoor market with like 30 restaurant stalls and a bunch of meat, seafood and gourmet products stalls. Also went to 3 philly cheese steaks spots. Pats, Genos and Dalessandro’s. Pat and Genos are the most famous ones. But both are tourist traps. Dalessandro’s was the best. I bought 8 sandwiches. A few from each spot. Took them to the cabin, cut them and we all shared and compared. Dalessandro’s was the winner by a long shot. Of course I had to get the picture with the Rocky statue.

Two things blow my mind about Cheeseteaks. 1. It seems impossible to get a good one outside of about 200 miles of Philly. This blows my mind actually. 2. Best one I had was actually at the East Commons (basically the dorm food place) at Penn State in University Park. How the fuck that place put out that quality I'll never know.

I heard "Jim's Steaks" and "Johns roast Pork" have some pretty good ones too. I'll try those next time. But I was blown away by Deallesandros. Can't imagine anything getting better than that. True local spot. Genos and Pats were a huge disappointment. They are the most visited ones with lines around the corner. But they do not give a Fuck. Its just a mess.

I'm not sure I have ever eaten a real cheesesteak... makes me want to go to Philly except I've heard there's a ton of black people there.
