dafuq? Oh... Aldo should defend at 3x. Be a healthy 155'er & go after Conor.

So wait, they're putting the belt on an active guy (hardy har har), Jose Aldo. But they're keeping the interim title? What kind of sorcery is this?

Shouldn't they even offer Conor to defend?

Shouldn't they even offer Conor to defend? I think it is pretty obvious he cant make 145 anymore

I dont get it. Wasnt Aldo the interim champ? Are they going to strip him or was he released or something? Here is my answer. Confirmed during the fights tonight. Conor vacates. Aldo moved up to champ, but i guess since there was still an interim title to be resolved, it goes to the winner of Pettis / Holloway. This could had been handled by Conor vacating and Aldo being made undisputed champ. This other interim title stuff sounds like a gimmick to save the ppv.

Did Conor ever defend the 145 title?
Didn't he beat Aldo, then fight Nate, then nate again then Eddie.

Never defended. Watch people bring that up years from now when discussing Conor's place among the goats.

He beat all he needed to beat in FW.
Aldo, Mendes, Holloway, Porier
Would have liked to see a Pettis fight or maybe a rematch or two but he definitely beat the top fws.
Now LWs, that's a different story.
If I am Aldo, I couldn't possibly be happy with becoming champion again like this.

history will definitely judge him on that. Becomes champ, then gets stripped of it for never defending it. LOL

Aldo was always considered the best ever at 145, he beat him with basically no effort, I'm sure history will remember that as well.

Oh its very impressive to hold two belts at one time. Or even just to move up in weight and win the title there.
I just wish he would've defended it.

Let's not forget that Aldo begged Dana to let him fight Pettis for the LW championship when Matrix Pettis was still the shit. What Conor did was impressive because the company LET him do it.

That is very true. They LET him do it. I don't think they would let anyother fighter even attempt it. They let Silva go up in weight to fight hand picked people at 205. But wouldn't let him go for a title.

The fact is, Conor finished both the LW Champion and FW Champion in less than three and a half minutes combined.
If you look at all the GOATS (GSP, Silva, Chuck, Jones, etc.), none of them even won their first Championship fight to the same degree.... much less a second one.
I think Conors legacy is pretty fucking solid even if he never fights again.

All those goats you listed, they all have something over Conor. They all defended the title LOL

Fair enough. I just dont get it really. If there was a fighter in FW that I didn't think he could beat or ducked, it may make me feel different. I just don't see that guy. I see a guy that came in and steamrolled the division to get the title and then massacred the guy many people thought was the GOAT. Going up to fight a guy at 170 and then destroying the LW champ is much more impressive than any belt defense he could have done at FW. Now if he wants to go down as the best LW ever, he needs to beat a few of the top guys there and defend the belt. A win over Tony or Khabib and maybe a Nate rubber match would probably seal his legacy in LW.

Conor had a great run in FW, He beat the top guys and got the title. But there is no longevity. Now he has 1 win at LW and you want to call him the best LW out there? I just don't get it, its been 1 fight.

He's the greatest FW champ ever because of...title defenses?

no, I DON'T think he's the best LW out there. I was saying for that to happen, he would need to beat Tony/Khabib and either a Nate rematch or another contender. I say Nate because I know he's ranked like 5 or 6. He already ran through the champion. Title defenses are cool but IMO they do not define how great (or not) a fighter is. If you look at any long reigning champ, there are a lot of contenders that should have never been there in the first place but timing was good to them. GSP may be the only exception.
