The thing with Conor is that he thinks he is the UFC. The UFC should pay him, but they should also remind them that he needs the UFC more than the UFC needs him Chuck left. Randy left. Brock left. GSP left. Ronda left. The UFC always recovered. There will always be someone waiting in the wings. I guess the thing here is there were already new stars emerging when those others left.
Conor is really a one man show right now. Ronda is on her way out with maybe a fight or two left.
Lets say that Conor quit the UFC tomorrow. Who would bring in numbers even close to what Conor is doing? Nobody. If Conor isn't on a card, you can expect the cards to go back to the 600,000-ish PPV.
Conor is in a VERY unique situation with the UFC right now. He's the most popular fighter by a mile, two division champion, love him or hate him, he's got a personality like no other on the roster, he always has exciting fights, he has a full country behind him, ....and HE'S ONLY 28.
I have to believe that the UFC will bend over backwards for this guy, including giving him a slice of the pie.
Peak rolling out the truth here. You knew it would come, it was just a matter of when; Conor is the first mma fighter that could realistically break away and do it boxing style, where he is the promoter of his own show? Or alternatively he could singlehandedly legitimise Bellator by going to free agency and signing with them! Do I think he'll do it? No. But we don't know he wouldn't, so as long as the UFC doesn't know that, they'd be wise to give in to pretty much any demand he makes. He's in basically the perfect position. He can happily sit out a year, get to know his baby, enjoy some time off and work on some things in the gym, all the while knowing the UFC is effectively losing money without him (I know they're not losing it, but they'd lose out on hundreds of millions of PPV money). He can then essentially name his price and use the "I don't need you, you need me!" Mentality to broker a new, better deal. I actually think he's got one foot out the door and only intends to fight a few more times? Can't really blame him, if he's not a complete tool with his money he's set for life already.

Conor is the main man but the UFC will be fine without him and he could be fine without them so we could see a not-so amicable split, especially if he is yapping partner talk.

There are zilch stars currently in the UFC right now.

The point is people are thinking Conor is bigger than the UFC, he is not. They would prefer him to be around but everybody has their worth and if he over values his, the UFC would be okay if they let him go. I'm not saying it will be an easy decision or even a good decision on the UFC part. I'm just saying people who think Conor is indispensable are wrong, in my opinion .

Just saying the UFC is hard-up for stars right now and Conor is the biggest star they have ever had.
