Damn. So they pulled a LOST maneuver with the maze, which is cool because Im assuming we can put that in the past now. I like the analogy of finding conscious being more like a maze than a pyramid. I didnt quite catch if it was all put together as a narrative just for William, I need to watch that last episode once more.
I've also noticed the symbolism in the show more and more. Now that I know that it's not just a waste of attention, I'm going to wind up watching all of this again in the near future.
Oh and in a sidenote, Dolores means pain in spanish...

One thing bugging me is how some people are complaining that the big Man in Black twist was too telegraphed and everyone had it figured out for weeks
I don't think they meant it to be that difficult to get. They gave us so many hints that I don't think they expected people to not speculate on it ahead of time. Just like with the maze not being meant for us, neither was that twist. It was meant for Dolores. She was still holding out hope that William would return and they would rekindle their love, only to realize that he's the evil fucker that's been standing right in front of her
I think this cushing heart break, along with Ford's programming, is what's going to lead to a pretty ruthless Dolores next season

I feel that we were supposed to kind of catch on that he was the MIB. Because if not Dolores' delusions don't make any sense. Which was what was turning me off about the show about 5 episodes in.
I really like where they are going with this now. I am also interested in seeing samurai world, which I originally wasn't really looking forward to. Seeing the SW on the wall and the Samurai started to make me change my mind.

Unless they do a spin-of series down the line I mean, they still have to run through and conclude what they started with all these characters. Samurai World would need a whole new cast, where all the hosts would have to be asian actors

I can also see the park trying to use those hosts to take out the ones that Hopkins(?) unleashed on the guests. There are so many ways they can go about this from this point forward. I can also see what you said earlier, about new storylines being shown with flashbacks from how the guests arrived that are now being hunted. I can see SW being thrown in there as well. "Well, I tried SW last time I was here, this time I want something different so WW it is!" Something like that. Really looking forward to this.

What if Samurai World is "Park 1" where Maeve's kid is?
This finale fucked my brain in an uncomfortable way. I had to watch it twice. And I got to thinking- what if the Ford who Dolores killed was actually a just a host, the one that was being made in the mobile lab? Or what if the host in the mobile lab was a host version of Ford that he was constructing with the hope of transferring his consciousness to it after Delores kills him? I definitely picked up on a theme of humans dying and hosts not dying, and it also seems pretty clear that the hosts don't do a damn thing without Ford's say so.
I'm bummed we have to wait for 2018 to see the next season. But I think that I'm going to have to rewatch this entire season. Have a feeling a lot of stuff that didn't make sense the first time around is going to fit perfectly the second time around.

I don't know. Why would they make a little black kid the new Karate Kid? Why would Tom Cruise be in feudal Japan as The Last Samurai? Why would we assume that the "race" of a robot is static? They showed us on a weekly basis how easily they can manipulate the skin of the hosts.

Nice finale. Ties up a lot of threads. Ford and Arthur kind of switched rolls in an unexpected way. The final narrative and the consciousness/escape motif merging into one grand design was fun. East World need not be a spin-off, but merely a sub plot that hints at a much larger problem (West World mutiny is bad enough, add in East World and Medieval World, both featured in the original film, and we've got a full scale robot army on our hands). The other parks won't need the character development that West World does, as they will be supporting/background elements in the central theme of Delores' awakening.
