Murder on the Orient Express - 7 of 10.
Disappointing. The old BBC version with Connery is much better. This was absolutely star studded but failed to gel into a singularly compelling narrative. Good first act, rushed second act, then a slow meandering build up and ultimately unsatisfying conclusion where too many superstars and not enough playing time turn this into a bit of a mess.
William Defoe Johnny Depp Michelle Pfeiffer Daisy Ridley (Star Wars) Judy Dench Penelope Cruz
A great, built-in script from Christie. And yet . . . 7 of 10.

Justice League - 7.75 of 10.
Reviews aren't great, but I enjoyed it. Had a much cleaner, less convoluted plot than previous entries. There are some subtle signs that multiple directors were used, but it's not overpowering. In general, it had more nuance and humor than previous entries. Flash is probably the highlight of the film. Team chemistry was good. Had a better villain than Wonder Woman, but he needed more back story and a more clear placement into the big bad hierarchy (he's the #2 guy but we don't really get that). This was a Darksied cameo and a Lantern cameo away from being an 8.5 of 10. And, similar to Wonder Woman, when it did flash back and give back story, we got some of the strongest, most interesting parts of the film. There was, essentially, a Justice League 1,000 years ago, and we saw them fighting off a previous invasion attempt. Get more into that mythology. Honestly think this is suffering a big from the sins of previous films (B v S, Suicide Squad) in terms of it's performance.

Thor: Ragnarok - 8.5 of 10.
Marvel just firing on all cylinders. Even a film that's not particularly interesting or meaningful to the overall universe is just a joy to watch, funny, colorful, killer soundtrack, GREAT ancillary characters, and perfectly paced.

3 billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri
10/10
Excellent flick. Sam Rockwell deserves best supporting actor and Francis McDormand was awesome. Probably going to get a best actress nod. Dark humor and dark drama, but both griping and funny to keep you entertained. Woody is also solid.
Highly recommended.

Highly recommended. Glad you liked it. I haven't been to the movies in a while. But I was thinking about going to see this one or the Denzel Washington movie.
I just may go out and watch this one.

Watched a few movies on Ondemand.
Wind river. Not a bad movie. Kind of slow but kept my interest. I'll give it a good 7
Hitman body guard. Sorry, I found it kind of boring. Kept pausing it just to see how much time it had left to be over. There was one funny part and that was at the end. I guess I'll give it a 5.
Road to hell.. Straight to on-demand and for a good reason. Not very good at all. Don't bother watching.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi 7.5/10 I can't tell if I'm being too harsh or too lenient. Maybe the nostalgia for Star Wars has worn off and I'm just a grouch.
Snoke was a bad ass. I liked how bad ass he is, they misuse him though. Luke was a whiney little bitch like always but did kind of redeem himself, I just thought he was misused as well. Kylo Ren is a bitch too. How is this guy supposed to be Vader's successor? Little emo pussy.
Their force powers are also still all over the place. One minute they can stop blasters, move mountains, but the next minute can barely hand with Emperial guards (or whatever they are now).
You can tell Disney took over though, a lot of unneeded humor interjected. It worked, I laughed but sometimes it felt superfluous. Plus they have a climatic fight and some fuzzy creature is trying to be adorable in the middle of it, takes away from the moment.
I just realized that I think there was like one light Saber fight and it was kind of weak. To focus so much on "The Force" and hardly ever use it was really dumb, I mean they even made fun of "may the force be with you" like it was a throwaway line and they acted like it was ridiculous to say.
Hell, now that I've written about it, I think it should be less than a 7.5. I don't know, I've heard a lot of people loved it and that this is the new standard but meh. I know they are trying to tell a new chapter in the story but it seems off. You have Luke and the whole crew and i5 just seems meh.

I saw it last night, hard to rate. I thought it was better then TFA but still not sure how I feel about it. Definitely enjoyed myself though throughout.
Long af! Half I shit I wanted to critique was quickly forgotten and replaced with the next thing!
And yes, kylo still sucks and they built up snoke very well in the first one, then did nothing with him. Some back story would be cool, guys.

I wouldn't have actually watched it if a friend did reserve the theater for a special viewing.

The Last Jedi - 8 of 10.
I'm pretty happy. Agree with most of the critiques, but also think in the age of Marvel we've gotten a bit spoiled. Just 3-4 movies ago we were watching Yoda do quadruple flips with a light sabre and listening to Hayden Christiansen butcher lines about sand getting in his crack. These films are light years (take it or leave it pun) ahead of the prequals. The saber battles are gritty, hot, smokey, and realistic. The characters are well acted and complex, some to the point that they're legitimately hard to figure out, and that's a good thing. The big flaws here are some obvious revenue plays with the little cutesy creatures and some forced humor that accompanies them. Fin was pretty bad as well. He had a "chrome dome" line when clashing with Phasma that was legit cringe-worthy. The big twist was good. The CGI was beautiful as always. We're still not capturing that super well crafted story telling that we got in 4 and 5, but we're getting good quality flicks that aren't fucking corny and have some interesting conflicts and new directions shaping up. One of the best aspects of Ep 8 is what the implications will be for Ep 9. I mean . . . without getting into spoilers, the territory ahead is fully uncharted now.

I still think they fucked up royally with that "twist." now it seems like we are watching JV football now as far as skill. Hope that isn't spoiler-y

Hope that isn't spoiler-y Well it is, albeit a very good JV, but that's part of the appeal. Flirting with a fairly radical departure from the traditional narrative now. A lot of people critiqued the cave scene as well, but I found that very interesting and subtle. Maybe it was an accident and I'm reading too much into it, but I thought it was profound.

Star Wars: The Last JediWhat a devicive movie. What a bold step for someone to take this story. Not too much in-between on this one. Most people either love it or fucking hate it. Me?........I loved it I'm admittedly not someone who's ever been a Star Wars geek. I liked them as a kid. As an adult I lost all interest. The Prequels then came and they were putrid. The Force Awakens and Rogue One were pretty good and fun theater experiences. Never watched them again though. But this one? I will probably watch this at home quite a bit. Forget Star Wars, it's a just a damn good movie, by a fricken brilliant writer and director Rian Johnson took all the tools the Star Wars universe supplied and did things with it no one ever thought of doing. He didn't give a fuck about fan service. He didn't give a fuck about nostalgia. He didn't give a fuck about popular theories. He told his story. On Disney's dime, he took the prime movie franchise on earth and catered to no one but his own bold vision. I mean........the BALLS on this guy. And the movie is amazing (mostly), because of said cojones And for the people that hated it, specifically the obsessed Star Wars purists that dare to try and say the prequels were good? I'm glad they hated it. To me it's further proof that he did the right thing. He didn't pander at all. That's not to say he doesn't love Star Wars. The guy clearly does. As he took things like The Force and Lightspeed and did incredible things with them. And he took characters and concepts to fascinating places no one could have guessed It's not perfect. There is this whole subplot with Finn and a new girl that turns out to be a pretty unwelcome, prequel cringe level, diversion from the main story. Luckily the movie is two and a half hours long and this stuff only takes like 30 minutes of that. The other two hours is pretty phenominal And Luke and Leia? Wow. Talk about getting the most out of two actors and characters who had their day back when Presidents Carter and Reagan were in charge. Rey and Kylo? Things are in good hands with them. As Johnson took two light and dark tropes and grayed the hell out of both of them. Making them far less predictable and much more interesting, going forward. Poe has a hell of an arch in this. And Laura Dern plays a new character that........fuck, I can't give specifics, but she does something so awesome. Honestly it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen in a movie And it's the not the only scene like that. There are tons of memorable moments in this, that had a whole theater of strangers gasping. And it's THE BEST Star Wars film ever made. Fuck your nostalgia. It is. Alright, that's too strong. It's okay if you don't agree. But to this casual Star Wars fan, and lover of great films, this is the best I have seen from the franchise 9 / 10

I largely agree with that, but I maintain that a slightly tighter edit would have served this film well. The Fin side plot was a chore. The humor was good but they went to that well 2-3 too many times. And a couple of scenes just needed to be cut or re-thought. Leiah going Marry Poppins through space. Luke milking the swollen rubbery tits of a sea cow. I mean . . . there were a handful, small handful, of scenes that kind of jarred me out of my suspended belief. But overall, it's probably the best Star Wars since 5.

Ha... You're gay. Not a star wars nut, hated the prequels, and this one too. The simple fact that Star Wars isn't really Star Wars anymore is lame. You do that on a reboot, not the 2nd movie in an already established trilogy. It was a long, slow movie with almost nothing going on until an underwhelming lightsaber battle. At least the prequels, as sucky as they were had pretty good lightsaber duels. This one? Meh, I'm the most powerful Jedi ever and I can't even force push a guard off me. Puh-lease... Fag

I rate them like this:
Empire Strikes Back Return of the Jedi (I know some won't agree) New Hope Last Jedi Revenge of the sith The Force Awakens Then the other 2. Rouge one would be above last Jedi.

Has there ever been a more critical fan base, then the Star Wars fan base?
I should preface my post by saying, that I like to consider myself a purist, but, Revenge of the Sith is prob top 3 for me.
I cant wait to see this. I've loved all of them except 1 and 2 of course.

SPOILERS
one thing I didn't like is that they spent zero time developing Leia with motivation to show us how powerful she actually is(the originals take some blame too I guess).
In the previous movies, force-choke, levatating objects and shooting lightening out of your finger tips were the pinnacle of the force. Now, apparently you can beat death, survive the cold dark recess of space and also hologram yourself thousands of lightyears away, impenetrable to physical attack but can also engage in a lightsaber duel. Hmph. Guess the standard of "the force" has been reset. We're in the matrix now.

Here's how I tried to explain the new Star Wars to people. 20% very good to great. This covered multiple areas, new force implications, some of the humor, some individual performances, Yoda, etc. 30% suck. Lots of examples already mentioned, Phasma entirely and anything related to her, super secret purple hair girl plan--- for some reason she couldn't share it with Poe?, and the fact that a major plot tool was a 2 hour Slow-speed-chase come to mind. 50% - OK-to-solid.
Still can't figure out what that number is on a 1-10. When someone asked I said it was a 3 and an 8, but not a 5.5.

The thing I really love about The Last Jedi is it has the potential to shed off a lot of the worst kinds of hardcore, obsessed fans from the franchise. Or at least expose them for how fucking stupid they are
Now I'm in no means saying if you didn't like this movie you're stupid. I'm referring to the people who are lifelong Star Wars fanatics that know all the cannon; have all these theories; named pets after some of the characters, etc. Those people seem to be the ones who hated this movie the most. You can find some of them on youtube, by simply searching "The Last Jedi" and the first couple pages will be riddled with titles like "Why it Sucks" Disney is ruining Start Wars" "Angry Rant" "Don't see this movie" "10 things I hate about The Last Jedi" etc etc. All with thumbnails of people makig angry frothy expressions, or facepalming all melodramitcally
Honestly these are usually just the worst kinds of people. The ranters. The people who act all betrayed. You probably are discovering some in your circle of family and friends because of this movie. And you may notice a correlation that these are usually the people you know that wouldn't know a good movie if it stabbed them in the face. And that's what this is. A Star Wars that dared to be a good movie. Not some pandering, nostalgia porn drivel. And they just can't handle it. And I'm loving that
Fuck these people. Star Wars if for the rest of us now. Go watch the kids cartoons, or those god awful prequels, nerds

Agree much of the criticism is over-blown. As I said, I'd like to give it a final edit, cut the run time 25 min, diminish the side plots (giant dog race planet, Fin and Asian girl mission replaced with Fin simply knowing a way to get aboard the ship and cutting right to the chase) and clean up a few pieces (Leiah's force use, Fin v Phasma fight both felt poorly thought out), but beyond that I loved it. Probably could have done without the painfully awkward sea cow udders scene, but in general, loved it. I think the plot choices were daring and nuanced and complex, it's become very hard to predict moving forward, and even with the greatly amplified force powers, the on-screen demonstration of said powers is among the most realistic in franchise history. Force use in the prequals was absolutely goofy and cartoonish. Mind tricks, dice rolling, and the ability to do dozens and dozens of flips. What the fuck? Now it's mythical, visions and projections, magic, like something from an old religion, which it is. The force making you into an elite level gymnast has always bothered me. I mean . . . fucking why? What does it accomplish to do 17 flips before fighting? That's dumb.

All the Money in the World 8/10
Just really well done. Only loses points for drawing out the conclusion of the kidnapping in a way that felt forced and tacked on. Glad Kevin Spacy got busted, because l would never have been interested in the movie with him in it.
