I’m going to have to drop $900 at least on my 09 Frontier. Both of my rear axle seals have been leaking for awhile now. One finally got pretty bad so I took it to a local mechanic. The bearing and seals have to be pressed in, supposedly if they get pressed in too far you have to buy a new seal and try again.
To make a fairly long story short, the mechanic couldn’t even get the bearing’s outer ring to break free to release it. I have to do the thing I was trying to avoid, take it to Nissan to get my pants pulled down. No aftermarket rear axle so my only option is pay them $900 to fix both sides. She even said it could cost extra if one is seized up. SOB
Ok, I’m done..

Okay OD experts. I'm gonna get a used truck. Has to be 4WD. gonna be using it to haul shit for the house whether it be wood. I jist chopped, Gravel, rock, or a deer if I get on this year. I want it to be a beater so I don't feel bad if I ding it up. Im talking early 90s or late 80s, 3 grand type of deal. I've been hearing Tacomas give you a lot of bang for your buck and last forever. Discuss.... Well they say that people get big trucks to compensate for a small dick. the bigger the trcuk the smaller the dick the dump truck in the back should be sufficient for you

She just worked for Nissan, giving over the phone price quotes. I’m sure she is just a key puncher. She types in what’s wrong and reads what the screen says. I should prob bring some lube dealing with Nissan for auto work.

Not yet. I may be waiting until October. A buddy of mine has a mechanic friend that has a F150, early 90s with 170 K. Manual. Many parts replaced and no rust. My buddy said he hopes I don't take it so he can buy it and I trust him. He said the guy is replacing the clutch and a copy of things but won't have it done for a month or so. 3,200. I told him I would take it so I'd rather take the word of a trusted friend than Craigslist.

Cool, I was just wondering. Yeah man. Thanks for asking. I was thinking of selling my wife's care and buying a new truck, giving her my year old Elantra. However, it would kill me on gas and I wouldn't need it near as often to justify buying a new one.

Better question.
Who here owns an import?
Who has only American?

Better question. Who here owns an import? Who has only American? I’ve had a Nissan Frontier crew cab 2009 for 9 years. I let my dad borrow it a couple of times when he was going through a divorce. He liked it enough to buy a new one also. All things considered, Yotas are prob a little better. I don’t think they are worth $10,000+ extra for the same options though. Just my opinion.

Never owned an American vehicle. All German and Japanese. Might change that soon though. Would never buy an F-150 because they are junk that always break. There is an F-150 on a lift at my buddy's garage 4 out of the 5 workdays most weeks. Dodge is a close second.
I think that's why they all drive Chevy's.

My father in law has a f250 and it has over 300,000 miles on it. It has broke down a couple of times but never anything that makes him want to trash it.

I have had (4) f250 (1) f350 (2) f450 (5) f150 Probably put 2 million miles combined. Had a 2008 6.0 diesel that cannon balled at 140k. Had to helicoil cylinder heads on a f150... other than that no complaints

Had to helicoil cylinder heads on a f150... other than that no complaints I had an F-150 for 8 years, ran it up to 300k, it never saw a towtruck. Drove under its own considerable power to the scrap yard where I got an impressive $500 scrap value for it. Only got rid because doors didnt work, windows didnt roll up, gear shifter was broom handle, wipers didnt work, A/C didnt work, and it needed about 2k in brakes. Still ran like a black teenager fleeing a crime scene. Considered putting the money into it just to see how long it would actually go. Absolutely amazing truck. Also my F-350 amazes me, after my idiot employee drove it for weeks and thousands of miles while the engine ticked from lack of oil, we filled it up and it has run perfectly ever since

I've asked my friends at the garage why Fords suck so much. The explanation that they gave me is that a lot of the newer vehicles have made switches to plastic parts that used to be made of metal. They also talked about how some of the most intricate Parts in a Ford motor are tiny and much more likely to break then the parts in a Chevy.
Everyone has their anecdotal evidence about a truck that ran forever regardless of the brand.
But just about every day I am in a garage with one of my partners and the simple truth is that Fords break more than Chevys do.
I never said you guys can't buy Fords. If you want to buy one you knock yourself out. I will not be purchasing a Ford truck.

I bought a 2004 F-150 from my talkative mechanic buddy who, in telling me about it, said he had pulled the motor and changed out some plastic parts as a preventative measure, digressing briefly to say it unfortunate and stupid that they had gone t plastic. I'll have to ask him who is making the best truck these days. He's a Ford man but can be counted on for an unbiased and worthwhile opinion.

Maybe Ford was just a pussy the whole time and their slogan is really an inside joke?
