Who ya got in your preseason analysis ?
Me?
Acc- clemson repeats despite loss of Watson. D is just too good. Fsu getting lots of love. Acc repeats as toughest conference imo, top to bottom.
P12. USC getting alll the love. Again. Ucla will underachieve. Stanford returns a lot. Washington has favorable schedule. I say it's either washinton or Stanford.
Sec. bama has more questions on d line than I can recall them ever having... but until they show flaws in "the process".... u gotta pick them. Lsu could be very interesting if Canada can provide them with the kind of success on O that he did at his prior school. Auburn is also a huge threat if Stidman can light it up like he did at Baylor under slimy art. Still don't see an sec title going to a team from the east
B10. Ohio state still the most talented. How will psu fare as the hunted instead of the inder dog ? I still say Ohio state wins the conference title
Cfb playoff.
The three truly elite programs (clemson bama Ohio state) all return. The fourth will be up for grabs. If USC wins the p12, count them in. If the b12 wins their key non con games and the b12 champ is undefeated (unlikely), count the b12 champ in. I think, however, that Washington will win the p12 and we will have a repeat of last years playoff line up.

Just pure gut feeling, but I think Bama gets clipped in the SEC championship game this year. I don't know who (if anyone) is supposed to be good in the east, but it just seems like the time is right.

This is a year where I see far more questions for Alabama than I've seen for them in 5 or more years. They lose cam Robinson. Granted... he was often injured and never reached the level of consistent domination they expected of him... but that's still a. If loss on the o line. They lose an uber talented and athletic TE.
On defense is where I see the biggest problems. They lost several excellent DT DE guys to draft, not to mention uber talented and strong leadership personality Ruben foster.
Yes... bama has recruited well. And yes... in the past when they graduated 3 guys out of the front 7 they had guys that stepped in the next year and kept it rolling. However.... in the past.... those futurestuds on the defensive line had already had one or two seasons of shining in key backup roles. As best I can tell, such is not the case this year. And while I'm sure they have tons of talent waiting... I do note this as a different situation that they face this year.
I see problems on offense for them too. Keep in mind... they masked their inability to throw the ball down field with defensive scores last year. That bama defense came up with key pick six many times to ice games. As great as that was... can we really expect them to continue that? I would have to say no.
With an expected decline in defense scoring ... can we really expect the bama o to carry the load with holes in the o line and a qb that was less than 50pecent completing passes downfield of more than ten yards? Again.. these are questions we've not seen in tuskaloosabin quite some time.
Sec seems like it'll be wide open again. I do think that overall the league will have a far better year due to better qb play. If I had to make predictions at this time... i think auburn will win the west and Florida the east. Stidman will be a huge difference maker for auburn.

This *feels* like one of the more unpredictable years in quite some time. I think losing Watson will have more impact on Clemson than many realize.
I like Washington, PSU, and LSU as serious upset threats in their various conferences.
OU has a pretty tough schedule and just lost a LOT of playmakers. Having Mayfield back is huge, but the "under the radar" thing is all those players you never hear about (dbacks, oline) are ALL back and deep, but it's also a rookie coach. Very difficult to know what you've got there but we'll find out FAST. Week 2 @ Ohio St. Week 4 @ Baylor. Week 6 neutral site Texas. Week 7 @ KState. Week 9 @ OKST. Yeesh. Show me a string of tougher road games front loaded in the schedule this year. Lincoln Riley just got thrown in the deep end and told to swim.
OKST has a much more manageable @ Pitt, @ Tex, @ WVU for their road tests and gets KState, OU, TCU, and Baylor at home. If they're every going to get over the hump, this is the year. The depth chart at receiver reads like softcore porn. That offense is stacked and the schedule is that ideal blend of strong-but-favorable.
KState looks solid and will try to rally for Snyder's final season.
Texas has optimism and talent for the first time in a long time, a rockstar new coach and recruiting heavyweight in Herman, and will be a scary-ass trap game for everyone.
Will be interesting to see how a lot of this plays out.

First poll came out today - coaches pre season. Of note:
OKST's highest pre season ranking EVER at #11.
Clemson is at #5 but got seven 1st place votes. I don't think people are appreciating how much of a leader and playmaker Watston was.
You can still see a ton of SEC bias as these completely unknown commodities like Georgia (15), Auburn (13), and LSU (12) just perpetually hang around the top 10 regardless of . . . well . . . regardless of fucking anything, apparently. Gotta keep that conference SOS high to cushion the blows, right?
Some teams that had breakout years last year have fallen off the map. Houston and Colorado both broke the top 10 last year and are not inside the top 25 here, and Louisville is all the way back at 17.
And briefly peeking ahead, there are some MONSTER games right away this season. One of the more front-loaded schedules I can remember. In just the first three weeks there are maybe a dozen REALLY great match-ups:
Week 1 - FSU v Bama Michigan v Florida Tex A&M v UCLA WVU v VTech
Week 2 - Auburn v Clemson Stanford v USC OU v Ohio St Pitt v Penn St TCU v Arkansas Georgia v Notre Dame
Week 3 - Texas v USC Tenn v Florida Clemson v Louisville OKST v Pitt
