Between Deere, Husqvarna, and a Troy Bilt.

What is your budget? Size of the yard you are cutting? Are you bagging the grass or just letting it sit?
If your budget is 5k and better, Get a Dixie Chopper, Hustler, Spartan. Faster and more reliable then the ones you mentioned. I think Exmark are suppose to be the quickest. So if you have a couple acres speed is a factor.
If you are bagging the grass.. Walker mowers are great baggers. Not as fast and you have to get use to the steering controls. They are also super easy to replace the blades. But they are expensive.

Get a Deere at an authorized dealer. The JD's at lowes aren't made as well. The D models are the ones to avoid.

Hoping to keep under 2k. Don't have a big yard, just a lot of hills.

You can get a D model from Lowes or Home Depot and it will be cheaper but it isn't made as well as these commercial models.. m.deere.com/en_US/products/equipment/riding_mowers/lawn_tractors/select_seriesx300/x330/x330.page?We actually inherited a JD, it belonged to my wife's grandpa. It is a 25 year old John Deere diesel small tractor/mower. It's a 900 lbs mowing beast still to this day. When it dies (if it ever does) I will prob spring for a mower like the one I posted.

I ended up going with a little D series. It must be a little different from area to area. In Maryland, the Lowes gets all their JD products from the local authorized dealer 5 miles down the road. All warranty issues, or services I take the tractor back to the dealer, not lowes. Gets delivered today.

Not to go all Jackel on you, but there are two different production lines. 1 is cheaper than the other in quality which sells through the retail chains, and the other sells direct. This is common in all sorts of equipment and is the way the dealer can do volume and the retailer can still have room for profit. I am sure you will be fine since you are only going to use this thing sparingly, but you may want to add a third axel so your fat ass doesn't bend the frame.

Just make sure you don't roll it on a hill. That's what kills more than 75 people a year. You wanna go up and down, not side to side, or you're gonna roll it, it's gonna land on you, and you will Tapout of life.

Exactly, it will be probably last for years. The commercial grade JD's are the ones built for people who mow a lot. I have about 1.5 acres to mow so I need a serious mower.

Lol....I'm looking at this townhouse in Boca Raton with a tiny fenced yard. If I buy it, I'm thinking about getting one of these.... Talk about the total opposite of what Tapout got.

Thank god it was a small model, damned miracle we walked away with nothing but scraped knees and hands.

Talk about the total opposite of what Tapout got. jesus... might as well just get a pair of scissors... Scissors....lol Here is my dilema. The complex takes care of mowing and landscaping. But not if its fenced. The place I was looking at has this 15x15 maybe 20x20 patch, fenced. Too small to justify buying a mower. But I gotta cut it somehow. That little reel mower seems to fit my situation. The rest of the yard is a pretty good size overlooking a pond. But as I said, the neighborhood association will maintain it.

BUT........ I just thought of another option. How about if I drop 4K on a riding mower. And use it to mow my tiny little patch of grass....like a BOSS.

Premier, What about just buying a weed wacker. I have the same little push mover you posted. I have a small area that I can't get with my mower, so I bought that piece of shit. Its a waste of money.

I weed wack my back lawn with an electric. not as smooth a look as a mower cut, but still quite fun, actually.

You can buy a POS small mower for less than $100.00 or cheaper if you go to a garage sale. I hate using weed wackers because you then have to rake up all the grass and the cutting is uneven.

Its a waste of money. exactly. the thing about those self propelled POS's is that you have to build up some momentum for the blades to spin fast enough. if your patch of grass is too small and you're constantly changing direction, the blades never get up to speed. i agree with whoever said get a cheapie gas mower at a garage sale.
