Howdy folks!!! A new employment opportunity in window and door installation is opening up for me next year and I'm going to need a full size pickup. I was looking at the Chevy Silverado 1500 and Dodge Ram 1500, both with either a crew cab or extended cab. I know that a lot of you have trucks so I want your opinions on which full size trucks are the best. Also, for you folks that have a Chevy or Dodge, how do you like your trucks? Have they been dependable? Would you buy the same brand of truck again if you needed a new truck?
Thanks a lot folks!!!

I've driven F150's and owned a Silverado 1500 for quite a few years. I'd never buy a Ford, as I feel they produce too many lemons. Chevy was a really comfortable ride, but to me it also needed more maintenance than it should have.
I've been driving a Tundra now for over 2 years and I couldn't be happier. It's an absolute beast.

I have a 2010 and a 2016 F-150 ecoboost. Both get 19mpg, are extremely comfortable, quiet and handle great. Shitloads of power both speed and towing, and I have not had 1 maintenance issue with either of them at this point.
I don't think you would be making a mistake by buying a Toyota either. Heard Toyota is coming out with a small diesel engine as well.

You get the most bang for your buck with a Ram. I was looking at leasing a pick up (bought a used Durango instead) and the Ram was much less expensive. A crew cab 1500 express with 4x4 and a hemi was $300 a month. The Silverado extended cab 4x4 v8 was $400 a month (they started at $500 and bullshitted down to $400).
That had a touch screen, which wasn't even working on the test drive.
I've had good experiences eith Chrysler, so my next car will most likely by a Ram.

It is going into production DW. Allegedly they are putting the Hellcat engine in it. It will be tuned down from 707. But it will still have more HP than the Raptor. Similar suspension travel as well. Ford started the fight. Looks like Ram is going to finish it.

I have 5 Dodge promaster vans. I only use them because they have a full bench seat where I can seat 3 people in the van. There I have had many problems with the Dodge promasters. Recall after recall, Lights have issues, cheap parts. Hell on one of my vans the flywheel is about to break. Due to the problems I have with the Promasters. I wouldn't buy a Dodge.
I know they are different vehicles and the pickups may be so much better. I just don't want to take the chance.

Starting price, according to Car and Driver: 55k.
The only thing this thing has in common with a van is the RAM badge. I'm holding off on getting a Raptor until I've driven one of these.

You can't buy a vehicle based on the monthly payment, the dealer can play way too many games that way. Focus on getting the best possible price for the vehicle, then worry about the financing and monthly nut.

Is there a snobbier crowd then truck snobs? I mean I know there is. But I cant stand talking about trucks. I feel like 99% of the people out there, feel like the truck they own is the best, and all other makers are shit.

This was a lease, so monthly payment was critical. I've done tons of research. Rams are the most economical truck out there. They may not be for everyone, but they are definitely the most affordable. Especially at the entry level.

I've had several kinds of truck. I like many of them. I think Chevy probably has the better ride then the others, I also like the look of the chevy's more then the others. Ford makes a overall sound truck. Toyota is a very good truck but mileage sucks. Dodge is cheaper then the others. I feel Dodge doesn't hold up as long as the others.
If I were to go out right now and buy a truck. I would probably go to the Chevy dealer 1st. If it was for work that is. A play truck, I love my 2010 Raptor.

I drive a 2016 Toyota Tundra. Mileage sucks, but i have a 6" lift and 35s on it.
But even without that, my last Tundra had shitty gas mileage as well. Only about .5 mpg better than the new lifted one.
Tuned engine, pumping out 440hp at the rear wheels. I'll take shitty mpg for the fuckin balls it has, especially when pulling a trailer.
Reliable, comfortable ride (better than other full size and I've owned them all). Trade-in on a Toyota is better than them all as well.
Buy what you want. Your money.

Ford is best, or at least they were 20+ years ago. This is based on how many old piece of crap fords I still see on the road, that obviously have not been cared for and yet still drive. For my part I had a 1992 F150 for 8 years, never once broke down, ran past 300k overloaded by 2000pounds every day, and drove it to the scrapyard because the a/c didn't work and it needed new brake shoes. Since then I drive a 1986 f 350

I recently purchased a new 1500 sized truck in 2016.
Ford is probably the top choice, however I had excluded ford right off the bat, so that left me with Toyota Tundra, GMC Sierra Denali and the Dodge Ram.
Went with a fully loaded Ram...more factory options for the money, all of which are warranty covered...like on the fly, adjustable air bag suspension.
I also wanted a straight up 8 cylinder, no bs like a twin turbo 6.
15,000 miles deep in less than a year, and very happy.
