LOL @ politics, man. What a fucking circus.
But, BUT . . . this is my point. You WILL see, as promised, principled, consistent standards from a certain segment of the right. This simply does not exist on the left.

We hate ISIl. Assad hates ISIL. Assad and the Russians are with us on strategy to eliminate ISIL. Out of fucking nowhere Assad gases his own people? Did he claim responsibility for it? What's his connection to Hezbollah, Muslim Brotherhood, ISIL, etc? He fights with all of them? Who can keep any of this shit straight on "good guy" or "bad guy". They all seem like terrorist scum yet we end up supporting them all and fighting them all. I haven't paid a ton of attention to this other than seeing it on the Fox ticker and reading what you guys have written (life shit getting in the way of my OD time). But it all does seem odd and it's not out of the realm of possibility someone staged it to set up Assad, Trump and force war. I think Assad said he attacked something and the chemical weapons he didn't know about exploded or some shit. If that is the case, US's intelligence was really fucked up. They are claiming they know that the chemical weapons were prepared, armed, and delivered from that airbase.

Well Syria has one of the most porous borders in the world, it could have come after the fact easily. What should be raising eyebrows, is if US intelligence was right, the chemical weapons were manufactured/prepared at the airbase that was struck. So that leaves a few options. 1. They didn't get rid of the chemical weapons. 2. The chemical weapons were brought in/made after the fact. 3. There was an unknown stockpile. Which then leads to two other issues to consider because it was a state run military base 1. Syrian government used on its own people. 2. A third party (Russia, ISIS, Assad rival), had enough power and resources in Syria to, behind the back of the government, use a military base for a length of time to prepare the weapons and then use the state's personal to deliver them.

I'm afraid Trump got played. There are multiple reports of chemical weapons being found in Iraq from 2004 to 2011. (As per the NYT), with verified examples of ISIS using the weapons they found in Iraq against US soldiers. So...ISIS has Sarin. Peace talks were set to begin in Syria, then- this happens. If I'm correct,(and I hope I'm not)- ISIS just got the US to take out a base for them and dragged us into a potential shit storm. I'm done reading about this for the night. Hope I wake tomorrow to find I'm wrong. isis has jets?

I hope like hell that he is guilty. Trump can't afford to be wrong... ever

Just off the cuff- a logical progression.
ISIS captured Mig fighter jets as recently as 3 years ago. Iraqi pilots were reported to be training them.
They got an opportunity to use one to draw us in, they took it. And we blew up a runway used by jets that bomb them.
Or- and this is actually more plausible given the fact ISIS has had and used Sarin as recently as 4 years ago in Iraq; Russia's version of events is the more accurate one.

Schumer, Lindsay Graham, McCain are 100% behind the missile strikes. Not good.
Even yahoo news has not trashed Trump for this. For me that is a terrible omen

Here's a fun one that just popped into my head: Trump did collude with Russia and it's about to come out, jeopardize entire electoral system and legitimacy of government. Obama did spy on Trump and it's about to come out, jeopardize the legacy, party, even legal status of many elites. So they both decide to let/help/make some shit pop off in Syria and now nobody's talking about nothing. If Trump did collude with Russia, I guess knowledge that it was about to come out, would be a good reason for him to do something that he knows would piss off Putin. Because he wouldn't have that fear anymore of wanting stay on his good side But it's not like Putin would really WANT to expose Trump, if that's what happened, because he would also be implicating himself, after denying it so heavily, for so long

I'm talking about the innocent people dying at the hand of the US. Many more that the chemical attack... Many many more The intent of the US is to use military action to overthrow a leadership detrimental to the health and safety of its people. Yes, innocent people die during those actions. The intent of Assad using Serine gas on his people what to fuck them up and make sure they know they are peasants and under his thumb Surely you can see the difference and if your town was getting gassed by some dictator you would be okay with a foreign entity coming in and bombing the shit out of their military bases, collateral damage and all. where has this been said? there is no official statement that says these airstrikes were part of a comprehensive plan to remove assad. only time will tell if that is the case (as we would never come right out and say that which would piss off putin big time). i don't personally believe that was the point of these strikes. trump said the strikes were strictly in response to assad violating chemical weapons bans already in place. i hope that isn't the case and this isn't just a one and done pinpoint strike. i hope it is part of a comprehensive plan for the region. as baph said, this is a very complex issue. lots of factions, lots of territories, and lots of crazies. do you risk ousting assad only to have ISIS fill the power void (which would piss off putin/china/pretty much the rest of the world)? if the plan is to oust assad and have kurds assume power, it would almost undoubtedly involve troops on the ground (which i'm sure russia would have a huge problem with). support for that internationally and domestically would not be there. i don't know what the answer is, but i also know we can't just give the middle east to putin. i think/hope trump is starting to see that an isolationist ideology is simplistic and just not realistic.

Trolling would be more effective if it made sense. Who am I cheerleading? This is my FOURTH major disagreement with Trump in as many months. That's not what cheerleaders do.

Obama played golf. Trump plays golf. Based on their track records so far, Trump plays business golf. Lots of talking and negotiation between shots. Obama played "Wow you guys are letting me on your course?" Golf. Lots of socialist jibber jabber about how they could rob the people who own the golf course between shots. And still, we let the guy play golf. Trump playing golf does not bother me. Trump calling Obama out for playing golf also does not bother me. I do not give a fuck about golf, despite being pretty damned good at it. (Won an amateur tournament in Vegas like seven years ago and didn't even stick around to get my picture taken. Because: I hate golf.) Obama was not Ok.

I'm ok with us doing something about it. But that has always bothered me.
