Good job dude. I haven't even watched it yet. Forgone conclusion. But I still wanted to be surprised.

Truth is I was happy watching it knowing the outcome, because every time King Mo took him down I got that "it's over" feeling, but knew that feeling was wrong. So thank you, PureRockFury.

Cro Cop's TDD looked pretty good for an old man. The first body kick he landed sounded like an old school cro cop kick. He telegraphs the head kick so bad now that he will probably never land another one. Did you read the rest of the results?

I did read the results and almost spit my own corn flakes out when I saw Heath Herring fought again.

heath got his ass kicked in the first round, but came back and did well the 2nd round. That fight arguably should have gone to a third round.
Cro Cop is fighting some 400 lb fat bastard in the tournament finals on saturday.
I promise not to spoil that. haha

You think that cut on CC's forehead is going to be an issue? I didn't get a real good look at it, but it looked like he was busted open a bit.

nah. it was barely bleeding. I'd be shocked if it causes him to miss the fight.

I heard on rogan that Carwin was pulled from the event, I think it was injury.
Maybe he is just waiting for fedor.

I've loved Carwin ever since Bailey and I watched him knockout Gonzaga with a 3 inch jab while moving backwards at 96 in Columbus..but that dude is a walking MASH unit. I think he is the most injured heavyweight I can remember

Don't sleep on that 400lb fat bastard. Baruto was a great sumo wrestler and seems to be the first sumo to transition to MMA pretty well. He's sumo fat, so he's not really just fat. Those dudes have to maintain a really strict diet to keep that weight and still be athletic enough to compete. It's not just about being some fatass. I did a lot of reading/watching of Sumo and gained a new respect for it. It's really not what you think at first glance. There's a lot of technique to it and to be able to do it, you have to be in a very specific kind of shape.
I don't think Baruto is going to do well against the kind of heavy leather Mirko brings, but you never know. Dude has some sneaky takedowns and could lay on him to pick up the win. Baruto Kaito wasn't the best Sumo ever, not a Yokozuna or anything but he did reach Ozeki rank, which is right below it. It's super hard to get named Yokozuna. It's somewhat political so it's not all about your record. He had a great year in 2010, went like 14-0 or something in major tournaments. Probably should've been named Yokozuna there but he wasn't. They did make him Ozeki and he maintained that until he got injured a bunch and just kind of fell out of rank. Once he dropped in rank he retired.
He's only 32 though, dude is taking MMA serious. I think he's going to be the first Sumo to do really well in MMA. I'm stoked to see him fight CroCop. I was hoping those two would meet. Baruto vs CroCop is going to be fucking awesome!

Some random thoughts on the tournament to throw out there...
Another thought about Baruto. He is the first rikishi to try MMA at a younger age. Every time we've seen it in the past, it was an old legend who was forty years old and was just doing it for a paycheck. They also didn't train in MMA to prepare. Baruto has lost something like 60 lbs, he's been training for a couple years, he's still young, and I think he can actually do well. He will have a major size advantage over anyone he fights. He's also very fast for his size. The types of takedowns he's known for should transition well to MMA. He has stated he wants to be champ in MMA. He wants to be the strongest fighter in the world. It's just a cool thing to see. We've never seen a top rikishi fight in MMA while still young and taking it seriously. Just big names in Japan who wanted a payday. Don't let the way he looks fool you. This is a dangerous man if he gets some ground and pound. He is trying to get his body where he wants it for MMA. Given how he looks compared to when he was doing sumo, you can tell he is taking the steps needed to transition into fighting. He looks much different so at the very least, he's actually trying to compete and win a title. He's my dark horse pick for winning this thing. With sumo, you compete multiple times a day so his conditioning shouldn't be a problem. He's in damn good shape for this. He's the biggest man in the tournament. The other favorites are wrestling based grapplers. I think he'll be the strongest wrestler of the bunch so that could get him the victory. His clinch striking has come a long way, he looked good last night. He's not afraid to get hit like the other rikishi we've seen. Dude stays on people too. Mirko has his hands full here. I just don't see how CroCop is going to get up once Baruto takes him down. It's either an early KO for Mirko or a decision for Baruto.
Amir Aliakbari is another guy without a big name who is capable of winning this thing. Dude is strong as fuck, has great wrestling... The sky's the limit for this guy. I'm not real high on him yet but if he wins this tournament, that could definitely change my mind.
I think we'll see Amir vs Baruto in the final with Baruto winning the tournament. Baruto wasn't even winded after fighting Kohsaka last night. Japan is going to go apeshit when a rikishi wins this tournament. Might be the thing Japan needs to make MMA big there again. If he gets by Mirko, he has this thing.
Also cool to see Kron Gracie fighting. I think he could be great one day. He is already a great in the grappling world and seems to be transitioning to MMA really well. I like that he's not rushing it and jumping in there with killers right off. This is easily the biggest test of his career. Kawajiri is still fucking legit. I really can't wait for this.
You also have Sakurai on this card. He's one of my absolute favorite fighters so I'm stoked for that. They got him up against someone he's going to fucking maul, too. It's a complete squash match but that's what I love about Japanese MMA. You get a legend like Sakurai fighting an average dude/pro wrestler who he might fucking murder in there. War Mach!
Rena is fighting, too. She's cute as fuck so that's always cool.
That freak Gabi Garcia is on the card. She isn't cute as fuck but whatever...
I really couldn't be more excited for this card. This shit is HUGE. It really has everything you could want out of a Pride card. A legit tournament, freakshows, legends, a couple pro wrestlers... It really has everything. I prefer this so much to the UFC. I've really missed Japanese MMA. Hopefully it gets big there again. I'd like to see a RIZIN card every other month or so.
War Baruto!
War Krusher!
War Sakurai!
WAR RIZIN!!!!!!

damn it lord, i was already stoked for this card, now i really can't wait. I love the freak fights and everything about Japanese MMA. I noticed Baruto was barely breathing heavy after his win yesterday. Figured then that the fat bastard would probably win the whole thing. I'd give anything though to see Cro Cop cave his face in.
Amir looks to be one of the better HW prospects in the world, but appears to have a shit gas tank.
My co worker was dying over the giant cup o noodles walking around lol

Fucking nice body shot by Mirko ended Baruto. I was wrong as fuck about that one. I don't think I'm wrong about Baruto but he got stopped by a heavy puncher. He seems to have a chin, that was really smart of Mirko to test his body. He looked great in there. He was in the ring less than a minute so I can't wait to see him in the finals. A CroCop that only fought for fifty seconds going into the final is a dangerous thing.
Kron vs Kawajiri is going on now. Hell of a fight.

Kron looked really, really good. He had good dirty boxing in the clinch. His striking didn't look too bad at all. Of course, his ground game was phenomenal. Kawajiri definitely gave him a fight but Kron looked very legit against him. I don't think Kron has fought a really good opponent prior to Kawajiri. He still looked very dominant and very high level. I think Kron Gracie is going to be great. I hope he eventually makes his way to the UFC. He's still very new and is going to get better and better. He trains with that Cesar Gracie team with the Diaz bros. He'll really only get better from here on out. It's crazy that a Gracie may once again be the best out there. It's very fitting he's the son of the last Gracie who was the best of his generation.
Mirko vs Amir coming up. CroCop had a very short, easy fight. Amir had a tough one. Looks like CroCop is about to win his second tournament in Japan. This one doesn't have the same level of competition but the fact it was fought over like three days is crazy impressive. Especially at his age.

A decade after his Pride tournament victory, Mirko just pulled off another one. Very similar to how he won the last one, too. Just fucking demolished everyone in front of him.

I am pretty high on Baruto and have predicted him to win the gp. He is still a solid prospect, unfortunately, i dont think he can make 265.
