Apparently Friday will be Goldie's last UFC event. Kinda sad... I know he gets a lot of hate, and he is a goofy mother fucker, but there's something about the chemistry between he and Rogan that just works really well.
So who replaces him?

I heard he pissed off Ronda.
Dana said he finally got a commentator that he's always wanted but didn't say who.

Does Rome have ANY experience with announcing? I would assume this pushes joe over to the color guy?

Jim Rome or Jim Ross imo. Definitely a Jim. The only problem I see with both of those guys is that it doesnt appear IMG-WME would be willing to pay those guys what they're worth.

Jim Rome's broadcasting career:
"Rome started his radio career at college radio station KCSB-FM while at UCSB, where he was sports director for one quarter, and at news station KTMS, also located in Santa Barbara. He eventually moved to XTRA Sports 690 in San Diego, where he started what is now known as The Jim Rome Show, or "The Jungle," with a loop of the instrumental intro of Iggy Pop's song "Lust for Life" and the instrumental intro of Guns N' Roses' song "Welcome to the Jungle" as the show's signature music. The show became syndicated in 1996. It can now be heard on over 200 radio stations across the United States and Canada. In 1998, Rome released an album entitled Welcome to the Jungle, which featured memorable sound bites and music from the show.
In early 2003, Rome was interviewing friend Mark Shapiro, executive producer of programming and production at ESPN, on his radio program. Unexpectedly, the two began to discuss a possible return of Rome to ESPN, and within a few months, Rome was officially rehired to host Rome Is Burning. Rome openly attributes that interview as the impetus to his return to television.
In July 2006, Rome announced that his nationally syndicated radio show would remain on terrestrial radio instead of going to satellite radio. The radio show is heard on more than 200 stations across the United States and Canada and has an audience of approximately 2.5 million"

I could really care less who is talking, (I turn the sound down for the most part), but I never though Goldy was all that bad.

He annoyed me for awhile, then I watched an event without him and felt like it was missing something. I'm a fan of Rogan on the announcing and since him and Gold have kind of gelled together over the years, I've just gotten used to it.
Interesting that you turn off the sound. I like to hear the commentating. I also like it when others in the room aren't yapping during the main events lol

If by chemistry you mean one guy knows what he's talking about the other is clueless and defers to the knowledgeable guy, yeah i guess so. that also means they could get any schlub to fill goldberg's seat. i'd love to see mauro, but pretty sure he's locked up with WWE.

I also have a huge problem with people having side conversations during a fight party at the house. For the most part i try not to invite causal fans over who dont have the attention span to watch a fight without losing focus and talking about random shit. Women are notorious for this as well.

None of these announcers have the the experience and knowledge Goldie has. Sucks he is off.
I guess Rogan is next.

Dana is a HUGE Rogan fan, say's Joe is the best MMA announcer ever, and they are close friends. Joe also seems much more content now that he only works half the events and doesnt have to travel internationally. I could see Joe Rogan staying on as long as Dana does.

I kind of get the hints listening to comments he makes on his podcast, that he will be out when his contract is up.

Yeah, like I don't see Rogan working well with Rome. Two strong personalities. Rogan will end up knocking him out.

"The Michael Jordan of mma!"
He won't be missed. And I don't know what he'll do for a living now, he tried football and made Phil Simms look good.

He used to call hockey games for the Red Wings before the UFC. He was on Junkie radio back in the day, the guy is not as "goofy" or annoying when he's not commentating. He comes off as a very cool guy. Makes me wonder too how many times Rogan has been like, here Mike, eat this cookie! Right before work.

Maybe they can get Marky Mark or Demi Lovato. I remember the UFC had a segment with them. They seem to really know MMA.

I genuinely think Goldberg has Parkinson's/Alzheimer's/Dementia.
He has somehow managed to know progressively LESS throughout his career? He's been absolutely fucking awful for at least a decade now but basically got a pass based on being loyal and Dana and the gang hating change! He's just shout out something he'd randomly recognise.
Thank FUCK!!! Plus, Rogan has been the play by play guy for majority of the time anyway. He called the action whilst Goldberg just chipped in with absolutely benign nonsense.
I have no idea who Jim Rome is (heard the name) but anyone is better than Goldberg.

All you guys hating on Goldberg are going to miss him him dearly. One of those things that you don't know what you had until you lost it.

I'm with Premier on this one. Goldy is a goofy fuck, but him and Rogan work well together and it will feel a lot different not having him calling the fights. If the rumors are true about Jim Rome replacing him, i'm not sure he and Rogan will work off each other very well.
