Yay just what we needed. Another shallow womens division with 1-2 legit fighters and 30 off the street bums.

Holly and Germaine should be an interesting fight, although if she's on her game, Holly should win easily. I think it's absolutely hysterical that Cyborg isn't fighting for the title. Apparently she turned it down a few times because she can't make weight quickly enough, and she was told if she needs 12 weeks to make weight, perhaps she shouldn't be fighting at that weight.

cyborg asked for the fight in march instead of february so she can recover from the brutal weight cut in her last fight. UFC couldnt wait the extra month. After all these years, they couldnt wait 1 month for cyborg, the person thats been campaigning for this for 5 years with the ufc, to recover from her last fight... what a joke. haha! Holm as marketable champ it is! LOL Cyborg wont be getting a title shot anytime soon... LOLOL

Sounds like 145 isn't the right division for her. Her fight was in september. You need 5 months to recover from a weight cut? This bitch is a joke. People have given RR shit for not going up to 145 to fight her--she's not a 145. Cyborg is a joke imo. Gets her way--gets a division for her and turns down MULTIPLE title fight offers.

Prima donna Cyborg will obviously get the winner but even if she beats Holly and wins the title, she is going to be one of the worst champions in the sport. She will fight once a year, pull out and make excuses all the while she will be running her man mouth.

Cyborg is being a whiny bitch. She's already had since September to recover, and she was asking for March? Come on. If she can't make 145 by February, she needs to rethink her training and nutrition, or not fight at 145.

She may have refused to fight or turned fights down, but I don't remember her ever pulling out of a fight that she signed up for?

I'm sorry, but this division is going to be the first to flop. And it's going to flop badly.
It's equal to mens super heavy weight. No one gives a shit.
I give it 18 months.

Horrible idea on the UFC's part. Cyborg is an ignorant bitch. I wish someone would beat her damn brains out already. Too bad there is basically no talent out there at the masculine weight classes. 125 might not be the worst division in the UFC now.

For those of you complaining, I don't feel like you should be.
The UFC is the most legit org in the world so my stance has always been that if there is a weight class, either male or female, that exists in other orgs, it NEEDS to exist in MMA.
I'm not good with sports analogies, but imagine if there was a weight class in boxing that only existed in lower level orgs but not in the top boxing orgs?
It makes no sense.
The UFC needs to have a division for every existent weight class in MMA.
I'm excited to see some of these fights, especially since now FINALLY Cyborg will fight and we might see her against some of the better female fighters.
Good fights happen at every weight class, both men and women, and this will be no exception.

What are you smoking? I still can't understand people complaining about men's 125 with the last season full of AMAZING fights we had. And Mighty Mouse might be the most talented P4P fighter in MMA history, including Jones.

But exactly WHY won't Cyborg fight?
Because she feels angry at the UFC for making her cut to 140lbs too many times?
That's dumb.
She'll end up fighting eventually anyway.

How about a 75 pound division for midgets? They made this division for ONE fighter - Cyborg and she refused the first two fights offered her. That's why the division will be ridiculed.

The minor leagues is EXACTLY where most of these people should be. There are "minor league" men's softball teams-it doesn't mean they need a professional organization.
It's time to get rid of the men's flyweight division, and take women's featherweight with it.

Cyborg does herself no favors falling back on the victim card in the article. Her threats of wanting out are hilarious, and it would be fitting if the UFC cut her. Cyborg refusing these fights could and should lead to Holly vs Ronda or Holly vs Nunes for the 145 title after Holly wins. It gives the Ronda vs Nunes winner more exposure and a deserving shot at two titles. It gives Holly more exposure and she deserves it. Sitting on the sidelines will be Cyborg claiming she deserves this and that but can only fight on her schedule. She needs a major humbling after the UFC went out of their way to give her TWO catch weight fights, and create a division for her, and she STILL runs scared? She deserves nothing but a pink slip. www.espn.com/mma/story/_/id/18274296/cris-cyborg-disrespected-ufc-booked-holly-holm-vs-germaine-de-randamieThe UFC has booked a historic fight at UFC 208 on Feb. 11: the inaugural women's featherweight championship between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie. Notably absent from the matchup is Cris "Cyborg" Justino, the top-ranked female featherweight. In a phone interview with ESPN.com on Tuesday, Justino said she was "saddened" and "disrespected" by the UFC's decision to book its first 145-pound title fight without her. Justino is the featherweight champion of all-female promotion Invicta FC and has been the face of the division for years. The UFC recently offered Justino multiple title fights at 145 pounds, but she declined them due to the severity of her most recent weight cut: a drop to 140 pounds for a catchweight bout in September. She told the promotion that she would be ready in March and felt the decision to move on without her was done out of spite. "My last three weight cuts were very hard," Justino said. "I said I couldn't continue doing this. They knew I wanted to fight in March, but they were mad at me for not accepting the fights. "Yesterday, they said they had no girls to make this division. Today, they rush to make a belt. They are saying something to me." UFC president Dana White disputed Justino's take by saying the promotion made Justino three offers for the inaugural title fight. After she declined all of them, White said the promotion had to move on. "We're in the fight business. That's what we do for a living," White told ESPN.com. "We're out to disrespect Cyborg? She said she couldn't make 145 pounds in eight weeks. We offered her a second and a third fight. She turned them down. With everything I've got going on in my life, the last thing I'm thinking is, 'Hey, let's get together and disrespect Cyborg.'" Justino (17-1) said she's still happy the UFC opened a new division and takes pride in helping create a situation in which she and other women won't have to cut as much weight. Until this week, the UFC promoted only two female weight classes. Justino said women athletes deserve the opportunity of more weight classes, as UFC men do. She expressed some concern over whether she'll get a title shot at the winner of the Holm-de Randamie fight, which will take place in Brooklyn. The UFC decided to not wait until March to include Cris "Cyborg" Justino in the UFC 208 card and booked Holly Holm vs. Germaine de Randamie for Feb. 11 in Brooklyn. In the UFC's bantamweight division, former champion Ronda Rousey will attempt to reclaim her title against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on Dec. 30. Should Rousey defeat Nunes and Holm beat de Randamie, the table could be set for a champion vs. champion rematch between those two. Holm famously knocked Rousey out in November 2015. "They could make that fight," Justino said. "I don't know. I think so. "Sometimes, I want to fight in another organization outside the UFC, but I have two fights left on my contract. I have to do those two fights. It's not just about the money or the belts. It's really hard when you feel like the company doesn't respect you." As far as the potential Rousey-Holm situation playing out, White doesn't look beyond scheduled fights. But he did say that if that were to play out, Justino can blame only herself. "We offered three fights, and she turned them all down," White said. "This is a business. I had two girls who wanted to fight for the 145-pound title. This is the pros. If you play for the Patriots, you don't sit around and say, 'I don't feel like playing this weekend.'"We brought her in because she said she could make 135 pounds. When she couldn't, the weight cut was too hard, we created the 145-pound division -- and she still doesn't want to fight. "This is a business of opportunity. When opportunity arises, you jump up and take it. If you don't, the bus is gone, and it passes you by. If Holly wins and becomes a champion, and that's the scenario [Rousey regains the title]? I guarantee people will want to see it."

Someone should probably remind the Brazilian steroid queen that winning the belt would lock her into a continuous UFC contract situation. Oooo and telling a reporter you only have 2 fights left on your contract and you plan sign elsewhere.... WELCOME TO CAREER LIMBO. good luck getting 2 non title/contract renewing fights in 2017!

Same thing applies here. Gone in 18 months.
