After the fiasco like 4 years ago, I have zero interest in seeing ANY heavyweights fight in Denver.

After the fiasco like 4 years ago, I have zero interest in seeing ANY heavyweights fight in Denver. Was that one of the Cain fights? I personally don't think MMA fights should be held at high altitude: PERIOD. Even though these guys are such sick athletes they are able to pull it off it's still unnecessarily dangerous. The air is really thin up there and I saw some close ups of signs at UFCs which read something like "avoid strenuous activity" LOL. I wouldn't be surprised if something bad happens one day due to the altitude at one of these events...and by "bad" I mean worse than a bad fight due to guys gassing... Like collapsing mid fight due to exhaustion. I just think it's unnecessary, but Denver and some other high altitude locations have become popular venues.

I still don't think I've seen this dude fight but I keep hearing he's a beast.
For those who have seen him fight, do you think he's good enough he could be a title contender?
I saw he won his last fight by Kimura.
Is he well rounded or mostly just a striker??

It was the event when Rampage fought Jon Jones...
Mark Hunt beat Ben Rothwell and both dudes were walking zombies, it was pathetic. Travis Browne beat some stiff and both were winded 30 seconds in. I don't remember many events, but I remember this one because they were dumb enough to put two heavyweight fights on the main card, at that altitude. It was REALLY bad.

Let's see what happens when he's truly tested. As noted earlier, someone mentioned that he'll be fighting Arlovski. At least his chin will be tested, but I can see him walking through AA.

He got pretty badly shook by Curtis Blades early if I recall? He looks a million dollars to be fair, powerful, strong, crisp striking, aggressive. Buuuuuut...he'll probably end up with no heart or no chin. Lol. Would be nice to see a legit new HW come through, it's been a while (like 2002?!)

I told you Motherfuckers
Okay, so beating Arloski isn't that big of of a deal but this guy is the future HW champ.
Trust! (Budo RIP)

I think he's what we had hoped Congo was going to be.

We need a better sense of his takedown defense before I can truly consider him championship material. That said, I would favor him over Overeem, Dos Santos, Travis Brown and any HW striker the UFC has. I would probably put him in there with Rothwell next and see how he holds up. Or, maybe Struve or Dos Santos. Very fun fighter to watch but I do think his lack of grappling catches up to him soon.

If not, check it out:
the fight
I know we didn't get to see him on his back but we got to see him in the clinch with a wrestler. I was very impressed by this.
..you are right though, he could be crap from his back.

I did see that fight. I was more thinking along the lines of his lack of historical training. He's a freak athlete type but MMA is fairly new to him and he seems to have a boxing background.

from the little bit I've read from his coaches and training partners, the guy is an absolute sponge. yeah, maybe he'll end up with a big weakness (chin, cardio?) but maaaan it's hard not be excited about the power and skills this guy is bringing to the HW division right now. if he keeps getting better, we could be in for some really awesome matchups.
I agree with ocmmafan, I'd already be inclined to favor him over most of the strikers in the division

I love what I've seeen from him so far. He's one of the few heavyweights I actually like watching fight. It's a shame he just beat one of the others

Between kickboxing and mma, Reem has been stopped 14 times by strikes. Let that sink in, the man needs to walk away.

I don't see how Overeem doesn't have brain damage at this point. He's been knocked out hard so many times now, he needs to call it a career and walk away.
And as hard as this Francis dude hits, Cormier or Velasquez are different animals.

Yeah, I'd like to see him fight both of them but at this point I'm wondering if we ever see Cain fight again and even if we do whether or not he'll be what he used to be. I still think he's the most talented fighter all around at HW but he just never fights and I don't know if Cormier will ever move up to HW, especially if Cain does come back. But if Francis connects solid on either of them (or anyone for that matter) I just don't see them being able to take it. I mean with power like that I'm not sure there's a human being alive who doesn't go to sleep.
