So I've managed to play a bit on the PS3 before that died when it was released. Had for PC but didn't have a working one that could run it till recently. Finally installed it (and all DLC) about two days ago and got around to finally playing it. Adjusted settings so the arrows don't pass through at distance, got mods for the UI, and the Perk extensions.
Forgot how much fun this game can be. Right now I'm focused on stealth/archery, cross training into some destruction.

I just recently bought a gaming PC to run this on ultra settings. I'm a huge TES fan so I had to play Skyrim eventually. Never had a PC to run it so I bought a pretty damn good one. I can play new games too but fuck that, I bought it for Skyrim. I think they're mods to increase the graphics some more but I don't know. Currently, it looks better than most PS4 and Xbox One games so that's crazy for a five year old game. Not really sure what this thing is capable of yet.
So far I love it. No mods yet. I'll get into it. The Elder Scrolls modding community is the entire reason I refuse to play any ES game on a console. What a fucking waste that would be.
I've always played a female Bosmer mage. Sometimes it's been an archery/sneak character (wood elves are great for that) but I love the magic on this game.

You came out a well-connected budding writer AND a member of the Master Race. *brohug My only serious character in Oblivion was a Bosmer. Been playing as a Dunmer in Skyrim. Never really got the hang of it. My kids love it though. My son's a Nord & my daughter's an Imperial.

Fuckin gotta say it. Skyrim needs mods to be playable for me. I prefer Oblivion 10x as much and I love modding that to hell too.
Skyrim just seems too dumbed down to me, plus the graphics were way outdated even when it came out. It needs mods.

You don't need many mods to make Skyrim great. Just Sky for the UI changes so you can organize. ABT so archery and arrow progressions are corrected, and adjust the config file so hit detection is corrected. Personally I added in a smelting mod and adding some gold to the merchants, oh and the one that extends all the perks from 180 of them to 400 something of them allowing for some real nice specialization.

I can't do the mod stuff. Its like cheating. It's not though... It definitely can be, if that's what you're going for but I don't think most people are after OP weapons and spells and the like. The mods are extra content. Some of it in the past has been INSANELY well done. Some people who make the game have even worked on mods for the other games. These massive, fully voice acted quest lines that people put years into making. That's the spirit of mods and the reason for them. You'll get new armor, weapons, and that kind of thing but it's usually balanced to the other stuff that was already in the game. Most people don't like OP items in the mods and won't play mods with them in it. If you have it for PC, you're robbing yourself of at least half the reason to play it on a PC. Look up something like, "Must have Skyrim mods" and you'll get a list of the great ones. You're missing out on some great content. I promise you that. The Lost Spires for Oblivion was as good or better than any quest in that game. You got these swords and armor that looked better than ANYTHING in the game. It introduced the Archaeology Guild and what you uncover through that is nothing short of amazing. None of those nice looking weapons, robes, or armors were unbalanced with what was already available at launch. Modders go out of there way not to make shit like that.

Skyrim is my all time favorite and archery is the best!
I still need to go back to Elder Scrolls Online like you helped me out with.
Elder Scrolls and Fallouts will always be my favorites
