I have a Nodictrack elliptical that started to have an annoying squeak (yeah, I know...)
Any "common" places this happens to?
Too general?

Post a pic of your machine. There's a million different Nordictracks. I should be able to help you isolate it though. This is the most common issue with ellipticals and it should be an easy fix.

The simplest thing to check on that is to make sure all your fasteners are tight, and none are missing.
How old is the machine? If you've had it for a few years the drive belt could be getting dry and crusty. They'll give you a sort of "rubbing squeak" sound. Not a real high pitch. If you suspect the belt, take the left side plastic off (just a few screws) and spray some water on it. The squeak will temporarily go away until it dries out again. If you have a high pitched squeaking, it's most likely going to be either a loose or missing fastener, or you could have a bad bearing, or worst case scenario would be the drive shaft is wearing out or out of alignment. Being that it's a home use unit, I wouldn't think it would be that extreme. Most likely the belt, a loose bolt, or a bearing wearing out.
They are finicky machines (all ellipticals are.) See if adjusting your weight will cause the noise to change. Try riding with all of your weight on one step. Stuff like that. Let me know what you find and we can isolate this further. Parts are not expensive for that machine.

Parts are not expensive for that machine. Yeah, the same noise came a few months ago and I tightened a few fasteners and it went away. This time they were still tight and I couldn't find any fasteners (out in the open) that made a difference. It is definitely the same type of sound like before. Pretty much like you described as a high pitch squeak.
It's a fairly new one. One of the engineers here at work bought it a couple of years ago ($800), used it two times, sold it to me ($100). I have been using it for about 6 months or so.
I will do what you said and see what I can find
Thanks for your help!

Feel free to take a video with the squeaking and PM it to me (or I can give you my email). That always helps too.

What am i missing here? How come Duval is a Nordic track expert? He fixes gym equipment n' shit. He will also graduate, before the sun expires. Probably. Maybe. It's possible.

My graduation just got delayed another year too. All kinds of things happening at my job, but bottom line is I have to take on more responsibility, which means I have to go back to being a part-time student. It's not the end of the world, 6 classes with full time work was really kicking me in the dick anyway.
I was gonna be a senior next year and graduate in spring 2018, but now it will probably be spring 2019. Maybe my student status will make it to a third forum, who knows?
I'm surprised you didn't remember that I own a fitness repair company too. I've been doing that even longer than I've been a student.

I remember you doing something with fitness equipment. For some reason i didnt connect a Nordic track to that. You don't see them commercials on TV as often anymore
As far as your graduation. Awesome news! We get to bust your balls about school until 2019!

Too general? It's your vagina squeaking from using an elliptical. The only real fix is doing some squats.
