I've been preferring to just dump what I would normally put into a taco into a bowl and just eat it without the tortilla.

I think El Pollo loco came out with the "bowl" first, no?
I'm a fan of the bowl, I'll admit it.

So for lunch lately I've been taking the premade "Harvest" salad from trader joes, which is a little box deal with a half hard boiled egg, greens, chunks of cooked chicken breast, couple tomatoes, green beans and an amazing dressing.
I'll hard boil 3 or 4 more eggs and toss them in. Good stuff.

That said, can't eat rice and beans (carbs) as much as I would like to.

Pollo loco is kind of crappy imo. You can find much better grilled chicken at any of those Mercados that have the guy in front doing the meat.
I'm a pretty big fan of in n out though. I don't like thier fries at all however. But a 3x3 with grilled onions is an amazing burger.

Then do meet with a bunch of Pico de gallo. When I'm on a "diet" I have my girl make me bowls with pico, chicken and roasted sliced bell peppers. Fills you up pretty good.

Yeaj it's not too bad.
I'm kind of spoiled when it comes to avacados, I have a couple trees. The last 2 months I didn't get any but I've got a crateful right now. I put a few in a paper bag and they are usually ready in a couple days.
I like my guac plain. No onions, tomatoes, nothing but smashed avacado.

What did you think of the fries?
Some people think they are the best ever. I just don't see it.

They were ok. I think people get caught up in fact that they take a potato and put it through that potato press thing right in front of you. Can't get any fresher than that. But aside from that little show, they are just normal tasting fries. Nothing special. Remember that before I saw you, I spent two days in San Diego. Found this taco place called Oscars Mexican seafood. Best fish taco I've ever had. Went there 3 times also. I had this list of places that I wanted to try in California....but ended up eating most meals at in n out and that taco spot. Lol. www.oscarsmexicanseafood.com

I love the fries... I can just eat them by themselves, no ketchup... I kinda hate ketchup anyways... but of course I have to have them animal style.
I have friends bring me some of the travel west. Tucson is only 4 hours away. Still good enough for me.
The thing I miss about California and I've probably mentioned it here many of times... The street fruit carts...

I was lucky to on Friday to have eaten at a Michelin starred restaurant. Scheduling got screwed up so I was brought to this small bar place on this corner in Chicago, didn't realize it was that acclaimed.

Very laid back place, seemed more bar-ish. If I wind up back in Chicago I'd love to have a go at their dinner menu sometime. Wound up at a place called Animale Saturday night, amazing menu but they had all sorts of Halloween specials so wound up having a blood sausage sandwich there.

I'm attempting a peach-bbq sauce today to use on chicken thighs tomorrow. I got to thinking though, the direction I'm going with it, if I were to cut out the ketchup in it, would be interesting to use on shrimp before grilling them.

Sauce is sitting and cooling now, delicious. Should be even better tomorrow when it needed for the dinner. Tomorrow though we are going to the international market and getting a bunch of pork belly sine it only 1.38/lb. That should give quite a few dishes over the next few weeks.

Taking out the last of my garden, have a bunch of eggplant. Going to do a babba ganoush with roasted red peppers I harvested as well.
Interesting...I have a little worm farm that I pull castings and "juice" from. Used a bunch of castings in my soil in my flower bed in front of my house. Over the summer I had an over abundance of tomatoes and a bunch of them got put inside for the worms to eat. I've got about 20 healthy tomato sprouts out in front. Good stuff.

Just pulled out the summer garden and planted a shit-ton of lettuce, brussels, peas, broccoli, artichoke, onions, and beats. Never really done a winter garden in any large scale so it should be a learning curve. Heading out shortly with the head lamp to murder some snails.

So with the other pork belly, for Monday or Tuesday, I'm gonna let it sit overnight tonight in mushroom soy sauce, red pepper flakes, and some dill. Then tomorrow gonna smear it with crushed ginger and seal it up and let that infuse into it until I need to cook it. I'm gonna try making it almost steak like. I think it'll take about 4-6hrs, then hard sear it and slice it to serve.

Angelo, pork belly is a stapple of Dominican street food. We do it a little different. We leave a lot more meat attached to it and in some cases they butcher the pork belly with part of the ribs attached to it. So the skin and the fat is not the main thing, the meat is what we go for.
