So like mentioned in the other thread, it seems as though this fight is happening based on Joe sort of leaking it on his podcast
Although I like Eddie, I am pulling for Conor. I think Conor can catch him and finish him in the first couple of rounds. I know Eddie will try and "Pettis" his way to victory but I think Conor's TDD is much better than Pettis and I feel he's just a much better striker.
What say you?

Conor will get the job done. He learned a big lesson from his first fight with Nate.

Or never win a fight again? I think it sucks that they allow him to keep fighting at other weights and it'll be over a year before he even defends his title.

I think Eddie wins this fight with ease. Hes got probably the best wresting that Conors faced to date, has an iron chin, and a gas tank for days. Conor's only chance would be to knock him out early, and with Eddies chin, I just cant see it. If Conor cant do that, Eddie drags him into deep water, and TKO's him on the ground in the 4th or 5th.

I like Eddie in this fight. His chin, wrestling, and cardio should be the deciding factors. I also do not think he will care about the pressure of fighting conor or in NYC.

I love Conor, but this is a tough fight for him. I'll definitely tune in. I have to say this fight is more interesting to me than anything at 145.

Not quite a pick em fight for me. Conor hits hard for sure but he's both heavily reliant on his boxing and pretty open in his style.
Eddie has very technically good boxing with a solid beard to back it up.
Hes then got the wrestling to grind on Conor and wear him out. Could see either a RNC late in the 4th or a competitive but clear UD for Eddie.
You never know though, Conor can defo catch him. We've seen Eddie basically out vs Chandler, so he can defo be stopped.

So I would like to see this fight for sure. Conor with a full camp, etc... but here's my problem. He needs to DEFEND at 45 or he needs to vacate. And he can't vacate because that would negate him from being champ because he never defended. Should be Aldo vs Conor at MSG

I really thought Nates size advantage was going to be the decisive factor in the last fight, Conor literally grinded out a win and showed crazy heart.
That tells me it's going to be very hard for Eddie to put Conor away by grappling and grinding.
I think Conor's striking will be the difference in this one. But if he does win, it will be interesting what the UFC will do if Conor doesn't want to defend at 145.
It would kind of be an ultimate troll job if he never gave Aldo a rematch.

I don't see Conor winning this. I do think he has the superior striking in every aspect, but Eddie's wrestling is well above anyone Conor has recently faced. Given he is bigger and stronger than Mendes I include Chad in this assessment. Eddie's shot is slower than someone like Frankie but if he clinches with Conor I think he can take him down, and down, and down. Huge props to Conor if this is the fight he takes as it is a much, much tougher match-up than Aldo.

For the fun factor I hope Conor wins because it means more epic smacktalk and big fights. Alves' winning doesn't really bring anything exciting in terms of upcoming fights. It would be a tough fight for Conor but definately winnable.

Eddie keeps a wide centre lane, and I see MacG smoking him with a counter left right down the pipe.

Eddie keeps a wide centre lane, and I see MacG smoking him with a counter left right down the pipe. I see Conor catching Eddie coming in. Eddie panic-wrestles. Unlike Conor though, Eddie has the pedigree, heart & physicality to finish the TD & smash Conor with GnP.

Not a good match-up for Conor IMO. Alvarez may not be as polished or dynamic in the striking department but he has a lot of power and I'm sure he can wrestle-own him with the proper setups.

Rumor has it that Conor is still recovering from his injury at 202 and there isnt enough time for him to prepare for this fight. Kinda makes sense actually...

No way would Conor want Khabib, he'd definitely be running back to 145 hoping for another 13 second fight.

Khabib would wreck Conor. Yep, you'd think so. Was just checking out a photo of the two of them the other day all buddy buddy. That's IF he gets past Eddie too. Tough fight.

Punchy would tell us to bet the family on someone here. Ya know, because he already bet his house, his barn, and lost both...

Khabib would maul Conor, only problem for him would be making weight... Which could be Conor's saving grace as the title would then not be on the line.
That's if Conor can beat Eddie which I think he will.
Eddie has a better chance against Khabib IMO.

Conor needs to stay away fr these guys with good wrestling. Just got up a few more divisions and take the easy KO win vs Overeem.

its a tough fight to call but i lean towards eddie., i actually don't think eddie has a great chin, he gets hurt often, he does have fantastic recovery, toughness and heart. i would think that eddie would use a similar style to what he did against pettis and just get right into connor's face and not give him any room, but eventually start landing heavier stuff, wear connor down and get the takedowns and GNP for a late stoppage.
i also still think this will be the main event of the NYC card, they need a big main event that can draw 1 million plus ppv buys plus they want to do a huge live gate. connor has a ridiculous amount of bargaining power right now which he fully knows and dana just tries not to admit. no other fight that could be made by november could possibly do 1 million plus buys and 10 million plus live gate unless ronda shocks everyone and signs to fight. jones still can't fight, brock isn't fighting, gsp would be on the canada card if he does come back, etc, the diaz brothers dont seem to be fighting, etc...
ufc 205 with a main event of woodley vs thompson, co main event of eddie vs khabib (I don't buy the idea that its too late for eddie to sign for that fight), weidman vs romero, edgar vs stephens and cowboyvs gastelum would be lucky to do 500k buys and 5 million live gate. just by replacing khabib with and your looking at 1.2 million or more ppv buys and over 10 million live gate. he is that big of a star now, and should have even more pull after the issues with 200. he should get paid like $5 million to show and say $10 per PPV buy
