The best sandwich that I have had recently... Crab Cake BLT Wheat bread Chipotle Mayo 2 thin Crab Cakes Lettuce Thick cut tomatoes Mashed Avocado spread on thinly
Side topic... Best chips? I am torn between straight Doritos and Hawaiian Luau BBQ

My favourite go-to:
Pastrami (Beef or Turkey) Thin slice of provolone, torn into strips horseradish cream Rye & Pumpernickel swirled bread Then toasted or pressed.
Best sandwich I ever had, was called the Italian Market Focaccia. Oh god I miss that sandwich.
It was Capicola, potatoes, roasted red peppers, provolone, pesto aioli, field greens and arugula, a fried egg and all pressed on Focaccia bread

Clam Roll (a ton of New England fried clams with tarter sauce, stuffed inside a toasted, buttered roll or hot dog bun)
Super Beef (fresh sliced roast beef, on an onion roll, with american cheese and bbq sauce)
My own invention (white toast with one side extra chunky peanut butter, the other half nutella, half marshmallow fluff. With banana chips in between)

Favorite sandwich was called The Rod Shaft. It was shaved steak with gravy and cheese, with two fried slices of Shepherd's pie on top and a little cup of extra gravy to dip it in. I could never eat the entire thing in one sitting. Still sad that shop closed down and they moved to Key West. If you are even in the city of Key West on the island of Key West, look for Hoss and Mary. They make insane creations.
Since their departure I have had to go back to the old standby from my childhood which is either an Italian Sandwich or Chicken Parm from Amato's.

I don't really eat fried foods so I can't say I've ever had it. Sounds fucking amazing.

It was amazing. He'd make the shepherd's pie on the grill. He'd drop the mashed potatoes on first and then put the corn on top of the potatoes, and cook a little bit of hamburger next to it which he'd put on top of the steak and cheese and gravy already in the roll. Then he'd drop the corn and potatoes on top of that. It was a fixture of my summer weekends at the beach for three years. There aren't many times I can recall being happier than after having smoked a bowl at the house and then walking to my chair on the beach, sitting down, and eating that sandwich. The sound of the waves drowning out whatever my mother in law is talking about....the weed amplifying the flavor, and making my own chewing the only sound other than the waves....it would only have been improved if I were getting a blowjob while eating it.
Some of the times where I was happier than being on the beach with that sandwich was when I'd eat the second half of it on my couch, while watching Game Of Thrones, and getting a blowjob.
I'll probably never top that. And I'm ok with that.

This is making me really want to do my own Pastrami. I wonder how it would be doing it on pork.

A proper pulled pork sandwich is always a winner. By proper I mean not just a bunch of stringy wet strips of pork, but actual hunks of quality rib meat
Texas Roadhouse does an amazing one

Shrimp po-boys from New Orleans. The best one I ever had was at the Aft Deck Oyster Bar on Royal Street. SO. DAMN. GOOD.

I've got a few.
I'm a really big fan of Chicken salad and egg salad, but my number one sandwich is probably the following:
Soft roll or wrap with: Chicken salad (even better if it's got pieces of carrot and cucumber) Honey mustard Preferably Fresh Marinated Mozzarella, otherwise Monterrey Jack, Pepper Jack, Munster and Provolone are all great choices Spinach (if no spinach then lettuce) Onions Tomatoes a little olive oil and pepper
Or the same thing with egg salad honey mustard, cheese, spinach/lettuce, onions tomatoes
Equally good but only slightly different is "The California" at a place near me:
Chicken Salad Bacon Avocado Monterrey Jack Honey Mustard Lettuce Onions Tomatoes Olive oil and pepper
Another really good sandwich a place around me makes, which there are other versions of in other places, is called The Godfather:
Grilled Chicken Eggplant Prosciuto Mozzarella Lettuce Roasted Red Peppers
Really good.
And if we are going with grilled cheese:
Grilled Monterrey Jack or Pepper Jack Honey Mustard Bacon Onions Tomatoes

I have a hole in the wall pub/deli right around the corner that is the highest reviewed "restaurant" on yelp in the area. They make amazing, genius fucking sandwiches. Not over the top crazy bullshit like another popular place in the area, but stuff that goes incredibly well together, just lovely stuff. Good bread to boot.
My favorite is probably the Keokuk: Turkey, Bacon, Roasted Red Pepper, Provolone & Pepper Jack Cheese, Sundried Tomato, Pepperoncinnis, Fresh Basil, Hint of Cayenne, Pesto Mayo & Spinach Served on a Toasted Ray's Roll
Honorable mention: the Kryptonite: Chicken Breast, Jalepenos, Swiss cheese, Pest Mayo,Tomato, lettuce served on Toasted Garlic Bread
Nothing crazy complicated, but they do it sooooo right!

Oh I can't make it anymore because I can't find non-pistachio Moretadella here, but I did like this, didn't have a name for it, but I made it like this. - Stone Ground Mustard or sometimes a horseradish mustard
- Slice of Scamorza (great thing about having a pizzeria in the family, this cheese is always available)
- Slice of Mortadella I crisp up
- Roast Beef (if fresh Red Oiser was in, it came with its jus so I'd dip in that before piling on)
- Slice of crispy Mortadella
And that all between two pieces of Rye bread, and toasted.

I love Goat Cheese. Never thought I would, but I tried it and the texture/flavor combo is perfect. Replaced mozzarella with it in my occasional mozzarella/tomato/basil sandwich.
I'm a huge fan of sandwiches in general and if the opportunity to have one presents itself, I usually take it. Yesterday I had a sandwich for every meal.
For dinner I had a Gyro with some of the lamb we had this weekend, feta, tomatoes and spinach. For lunch I had thick cut bacon, with some cream cheese and bacon jelly on pumpkin bread. First time I ever tried it, and it was surprisingly good. For breakfast I had a fried egg with melted american cheese over it, stuffed between two hash brown patties.
Didn't touch a fork yesterday.

that's the problem with Vietnamese places, there are some that are really questionable. We have a million of them in Houston. Some great, some horrible.
