I haven't watched a season of TUF in like 4 years. And that's a conservative guess.

the new owners must have a plan. theyre coming in hard with the axe. I wonder? why get rid of a tv property like that that only serves to advertise the product? Maybe half the roster is next? they dont want to have hundreds of no names and TUF just kept adding more of them?

Why would anyone think this is good?
This season that's on right now is the best one there's ever been.
Seriously, I was getting VERY bored of the show but this season is like watching a great MMA tournament: it's ALL champions from other orgs.
EVERY SINGLE fight in the elimination round has ended in a finish and all have been excellent.
If you have been turned off by all the seasons being the same, watch this one and it will turn you back into a fan.
Odd that this announcement comes now that they are having their best season.
Also, Dana said he was planning on doing an "all star" season which could have been great.
And does anyone know why it wasn't on last night???

I think the show has run its duration imo. I haven't watched it in years, just don't care to.
I hear the fights this year were very good, but reality TV is for the fucking birds imo.

it still serves a very solid purpose of finding new fighters and making them somewhat familiar to some fans prior to getting onto the cards. thats really the main reason for it these days, so fighters coming off of TUF have some name recognition compared with guys coming straight from the smaller organizations.

I can see your point, and could have more before this season, but have you been watching this one?? It seems like no one here has and you are all missing out. These fights are SICK. I'm really excited that all these guys will be in the UFC at 125lbs after this cause they will entirely remake the division and some of them can probably challenge and maybe even beat DJ. You might not like the reality show aspects, but I don't see how you wouldn't like the fights when they are this good. Fights between champions that have ALL been less than 2 full rounds and ALL ended in a finish?? If you don't like that, you don't like MMA.

Just off of the top of my head I'd say this is something from a ratings standpoint that needed to be done awhile ago. Dana should have put Old Yeller out of his misery but he thought he might be able to catch the magic of the older shows.
The company that bought them had no sentimental ties and had no problem admitting that it wasn't cutting the mustard anymore. They made the right choice from a financial standpoint and canceled it. Again, I'm just making an assumption.

TUF made sense from a financial standpoint based on the way Zuffa WAS run. Doesn't make sense because of the changes coming.
HOWEVER.... I think they will take it off for a 1-3 years, re-tool it for use in their new structure. Probably set up as some tournament style for international fighters, extra production, less filler. Get the network money, limit cost, and gain earners.

Maybe the new owners figure "fuck it, we're going to let these other leagues feed us the best of the best." Fewer cards with more marquee matchups could probably end up making more sense financially. Look at boxing.

You don't need to try and sell me on it lol I have a hard time sitting through reality tv.If I were to just watch the fights I'm sure they are great. But since I don't have much time to stare at a tv, I don't bother to look them up. Guess I just dont like mma... I'll watch ppvs and fight nights. I'm just personally tired of this show. I've been tired of this show since like season 5 or 6, Ive only bothered to watch if someone I knew made it into the house.

Tough one. On one hand the show is not what it once was. Not a lot of people care about it. I cant imagine the ratings are good.
But that said, its still a weekly TV presence that advertises the brand. No company wants to lose that.
Maybe its the network that wants to get rid of it?
