Update
Been a week now. Feeling pretty good. Definitely better. Sleeps finally good again. BP was still a little high at 185/85 on Sunday morning which is crazy for being on BP meds, no drinking, no caffeine, and tons of cardio but whatever.
Got a dr appointment and blood work on Wednesday.

good to hear peak. its been 61 days for me off booze and drugs, i feel fantastic. lots of walking, no real cardio or strength training yet but its coming. im 161 now, up from 134, all tests are golden.
glad you got blood work and a Dr's appt. i also take high bp meds and my pressure is on the low end of normal now. i take 50 mg of Atenolol, for both pressure and high pulse rate. resting pulse was and has been my entire life near 100, now its high 70's. works well for both.
keep on keeping on

I'm coming up on the home stretch of the semester, by far my toughest yet. I'm probably gonna try going sober until after finals. I'm not drinking much anyway, so it shouldn't be too difficult.
No way I can give up the coffee though, I only get to sleep about 4 hours a night.
Congrats to the both of you.

Change is good. I finally hit the reset button on health after dreading the bloodwork results of a life insurance review this spring. I got sick of feeling like that, waiting to get declined or the doctor to give me a laundry list of meds. (308 lbs, 38 yrs old) Similar to peAk I started changing things, down 70 lbs since May 4th, blood pressure, cholesterol, everything is getting back in line. It's not like I stopped eating or drinking, I just do both a lot less and exercise a little more.
In any case, fear of bloodwork, and bloodwork results was a pretty big catalyst for me so I can relate to that part. Whatever it takes.

I know it takes a lot of focus and dedication. I absolutely agree about the anxiety before blood work. I went through that the last week and a half.
So my blood pressure was good like previously mentioned so my doc cut my bp medicine in half (yay) and he is assuming that my blood work will come back good based on all the cardio I have been doing and the weight loss (-10lbs). I am 5'11" 193lbs but I was 210 last time I saw him.
Getting old sucks and it really seems to be moving faster.

Anyway, I live another day. Goodtimes, Goodtimes.

So my blood work came back this week and most things came back okay.
My AC1 went down from a 5.9 to a 5.8, which isn't much but I will take it. It's still considered pre-diabetic but considering that my dad, brother, and sister have full blown diabetes and I am still not there at 43, I think I am doing pretty well.
My AST/ALT liver enzymes, which had been pretty high the last couple of screenings, were in the normal range. This is the basic test to see how much you have fucked up your liver from drinking and/or anything else. This can repair itself so long as it doesn't get too bad and you end up with cirrhosis.
My triglycerides were normal
My good cholesterol was normal
....but for the first time in my entire life, my bad cholesterol was high. Its crazy too because my diet has been the same for years and years. I have also been doing an insane amount of cardio and have dropped about 10lbs. The only thing in my diet that had changed is that I had been drinking way more beer and way less wine. I have to believe that the red wine was helping not only my good cholesterol but my bad as well.
So quit caffeine and sleeping aids completely and back to having two glasses of wine in the evenings. Maybe a beer here and there.

I get checked twice a year and sometimes it's been high when I had really been on top of my game...or at least I thought I was. You don't look 43, I thought I was older than you.
