it is a shitty situation (pun intended)
good news they got us right in an extended stay hotel with our dogs, disaster clean up is working hard, didn't loose a lot of property as basement was only partially finished probably most major damage is the loss of books and book shelves, couple leather chairs too, nothing that cant be replaced, hopefully back in our place by the weekend

Bummer. If it was your own place and you were local I'd offer to give a hand. Bummer when shit like this happens.

Since I'm from socal and we RARELY have basements...
Is the sewer pipe going over head or is this something in the concrete? I'm actually pretty good with plumbing.
And my bad on assuming you didn't own, I always figure when someone says they got put in a hotel is was by management.

the pipe was about waist high going through the foundation, so about 2 feet or so underground on the outside of my house, then runs to the street... Insurance claim was made because i guess that is why we have it LOL our adjust said she has never seen a "sudden release of water" like that and she says that is good because this type of claim has a chance to get denied she said but for sure not ours, her and her mngr agreed it was one of the worst and good thing we were dumb-asses and kept using our water as it poured into the basement. plumber finished up today and we are back in happened Sunday and back in Thursday night so not bad at all in my opinion, all my stuff is still in a storage pod in my driveway though
