wow, seeing Tachi Palace, Lemoore,CA would host the UFC 4/18 was a big surprise. Tachi Palace has a long hx of hosting combat sports, especially MMA , including events prior to California legalizing the sport. They stopped having MMA and boxing cards in 2019 . WEC, Invicta, Top Rank, Golden Boy and a home grown vigorous MMA promotion, all had events about ~ 2-3 months prior to 2019 (change in tribal leadership/building a new event center).
From 2014 on, i have been a doc at the majority of those events, and enjoyed everything but the drive to and from.
I was not asked to work this UFC, and would have declined anyway. But i have to wonder what officials will ignore a near-nation wide Stay at Home order.

It looks like Rose is out of the co-main event for undisclosed reasons. I can’t blame her for backing out due to current circumstances, if that is the case.
I still have this suspicion that the event won’t take place, but I have to give credit to Dana for his efforts.

I saw some article about how the UFC gets like 750 million guaranteed this year if they put on a certain number of cards and canceling cards through May would make that nearly impossible. They get guaranteed money no matter how poorly the cards do, so they apparently have a lot of incentive to just put on weekly cards through the pandemic, whether there's an audience for them or not.
Too bad about Rose and Khabib both being out. Those were two fights I was really looking forward to. Tony/Justin is good too, but not "oh my god I can't believe it's happening" good.

That’s interesting and likely why Dana is so gung ho to get his private island fights off the ground. I actually think Tony v. Justin is going to be a more exciting fight. I still would rather watch Tony v. Khabib to finally see the conclusion, but I think Khabib would likely maul Tony for most of the fight. I am leaning towards Justin in this one, but that is assuming he is in decent shape and won’t have a terrible weight cut.

I would pick the opposite of Daywork and clean up! I need that guy posting again. You don’t think Khabib would beat Tony?

Event officially canceled Motherfucker. Apparently Disney and ESPN don’t want to be associated with the risks involved.

Like 38 more events left. A proper tournament for all weight classes is in order. If you're gonna do a BMF belt might as well do UFC tournament that would end on NY's eve. That's 10 finals in 1 night.

Tony Ferguson is still cutting weight for his fight tomorrow - the fight that isn't happening.
That dude is hilariously insane.
I rewatched his fight with Pettis last night. Pettis hurt him bad to start the second but he was still doing somersaults and shit in response. Actually rewatching that fight - his first fight back after major knee surgery - made me think maybe he'd have a chance against Khabib. He's such a weird fighter. God damn I wish that fight with Khabib was happening.

When asked why he cut the weight, he replied, “it just made sense.” I’m not sure what made sense, but in Tony’s mind it definitely did. It’s hard for me to see a way Tony wins against Khabib. He has a killer instinct that always gives him a chance, but against Khabib that chance is slim. Khabib likely cruises to a boring 50-45 decision. I’ll wait for Daywork to chime in before betting though.

I guess the Iaquinta/Khabib fight was arguably a bit boring. But the rest of Khabib's fights have been great and Tony's fights are always great. Khabib doesn't take dudes down and hold them. He takes dudes down and mauls them. It's absolutely entertaining to watch. And everything Tony does is entertaining. Plus, Tony doesn't get tired. So, even if he gets mauled for three rounds or so, there's always a chance Khabib tires a little in the championship rounds and Tony mounts a comeback. You wouldn't be excited to see if that could happen? Jesus Christ man, you're just a terrible fan.

He absolutely dominates fights but it’s pretty boring to the trained eye of a veteran fan of the sport like me. Dustin, Conor and even the stand up Al fight have been snoozefests. Conor almost always puts on entertaining fights. Who did he fight in his most boring fight? Khabib. Even Conor called it boring. Tony almost always puts on exciting fights but Khabib is just too good at what he does. Takedowns and 50-45. Book it. Actually, I don’t know if this fight ever happens, so maybe don’t book it.

Is the ban for calling Khabib boring or dominant? We can only answer that if we know your political affiliation. If you are conservative, then either way, you're banned for racism.
