Cal passed two days ago, sudden heart attack. He was a pioneer for MMA in the Sacramento area, took part in 3 UFC bouts, beginning at UFC 6
He was a great guy to talk to. A tough, undersized heavyweight, late in his career fought in regional shows for Gladiator Challenge. I was fortunate enough to work 4 of his last few bouts. A completely class act, win or loose. RIP.

UFC 6 was a really good event. One of my favorite early UFC's. Rip

Wow that’s a bummer. Think I remember him almost getting thrown out of the cage once. Also there was that devastating elbow to the back of the head from Paul Varlans, and the time I think he almost died after a fight? That guy was bad ass.

how did he die? certainly under 60 years old. He died due to injuries sustained from taking that 12 to 6 elbow from Paul the Polar Bear Varelans at UFC 6. That's why the Nsac banned them.
