NYSAC will not let Felder fight Khabib because he's 'not ranked' Then why not let Iaquinta fight Khabib, he's ranked #11? WTF...

So why’re scrapping Felder vs Al so Al can fight Khabib. Felder and Pettis will not fight.
Down to 9 fights. What a fucking joke.

Also since Al weighted in at 155.2 he can’t win the belt regardless of the outcome.

So Al vs. Khabib
Call me crazy, but I like this fight a lot and I give Al I decent shot at an upset.
He definitely has more KO power than Tony or Max and his BJJ is no joke.
Way better fight than Khabib vs Pettis

I don’tike it. AL has good takedown defense but once he gets planted—he won’t get back up. Ferguson and Holloway are very aggressive off their backs.
What a change a week makes. This card went from can’t miss for me to eh—I won’t even go to a bar for it.

So if Laquinta wins, does he become the new interim champ?

Not to mention he KO'd Diego in his last fight. He's at least got a better chance than Pettis IMO

They weighed al's undies and they weighed .2 so he is officially fighting for the belt.
Pulling for a raging Al upset. It's Al Time! Everybody know this.

Not a bad bet daywork. I agree with others that Al definitely has a better chance than Pettis. Al's wrestling is strong and he has good KO power. Pettis is pretty similar to Barboza, and we saw how that went down. Near murder by Khabib.
Still, Khabib is a huge favorite for a reason. He's an absolute killer. He'll be deserving when he gets the belt.

Not a fan of Conor anymore, but I still imagine he puts a beating on khabib that not a lot of people see coming.

I've said this before... if Conor fights either Khabib or Tony, we'll know he's legit.
If he fights Nate again, or GSP, or takes the next couple of years off and just keeps talking, well then we'll know he's more promotion than fighter. Which is fine. It's his life, he's certainly done enough he's entitled to make that choice. It would just take him out of the GOAT discussion for me and a lot of others, I imagine.
I'd currently take Khabib in a fight with Conor.

I mean Al is a DECENT fighter but he's not on Holloway or Ferguson's level. He's got nothing more than a puncher's chance. Khabib is going to murder him worse than he did to Barboza who IMO is all around better than Al.

My instructor and I were talking last night about all this crazy shit that went down cause I had still thought he was fighting Holloway and didn't realize they also went through Pettis and I think someone else before getting to Al.
We both agreed that Khabib would beat Conor, Holloway and Ferguson.
Then I asked him if there's anyone at 155lbs who he actually thought might have a good chance at beating Khabib and his answer surprised me: he said he thinks Ryan Hall might have a legit shot because of how great his guard and BJJ are and because Khabib WOULD take him down guaranteed and not use his wrestling in reverse.
And while some of you might say he's crazy, keep in mind that my boy has trained with BOTH Khabib and Hall MANY times and he knows their games first hand.
He said that he was surprised when Khabib started destroying everyone because he actually isn't THAT amazing in training and that at times he has actually gotten the better of Khabib when they trained together with the Miller brothers at AMA in Jersey.
He said that Khabib is an example of someone who often doesn't look great in training but who suddenly just "turns it up to 100" in the fight and is like a different animal.
My instructor has also beaten Hall twice in submission grappling tournaments.
Me personally, I'd still take Khabib over Hall, but I'd give Hall about as good a shot against Khabib as Ferguson, and better than Holloway or many other guys who currently fight at LW because I do NOT think he'd have an easy time pounding Hall out through his guard because he's just so damn slick down there.

It's not who I'm pulling for but who I think will win, and no, I was never really a huge Weidman fan or fan of Al, but I don't dislike them. I can take or leave either guy. But I mean, I can still admit sometimes even if I think a fighter I like will lose. I just don't see Al having much of a chance outside of a one punch KO, but hey, he is a Serra guy who pulled off the same kind of upset and anything can happen in MMA, I just wouldn't put money on it. I just want to see a round robin between Conor, Khabib and Ferguson...and now that my instructor mentioned it, I can't get the idea out of my head of how interesting a fight between Khabib and Ryan Hall would be.

I am not expecting it but would not be mad at a Ragin Al upset.
Fun Fact: 11 years ago today, Al's trainer Matt Serra KO'd GSP.
Will history repeat itself?

You know I saw and briefly talked with Serra at a couple BJJ tournaments in New Jersey years back and he was always a really nice guy. Once I lost by decision to one of his guys in a no-gi division and he walked up behind me and said "it's good experience" or something like that. Then another time I pretty much dominated and armbarred some kid while Serra was watching and he looked at me and said "that was a thing of beauty." He was very frequently sitting on the sidelines at NAGA tournaments in Jersey and the tri-state area in the early and mid 2000s and coaching lots of guys. He's a good guy and I could definitely get behind anyone he trains.
