Gm meetings coming up this week. Should make for some moves.
All 9 players that were made a qualifying offers, declined. Arrieta being the biggest name to this the FA market.
Looks like only 3-4 teams will be in the running for Otani.
The Ranger, Twins, Brewers and Yankees being the front runners just for what they have avail in international pool money. Rangers having the most of all 4.

Where Stanton lands is a big off season question. Hoping the Sox could find him on their radar but not looking like it. We need power and there it is.
I think Arrieta is past his prime and wouldn't be worried about him if he comes to another AL contender. He gives up HRs and needs to stay in the NL to be successful.
Risky paying bank for the japs as you just never know. But, teams have to do something because these Astros are fucking loaded, young and going to be tough. Cleveland is also a step ahead of the Sox. Yankees should be in the thick of it and be favored to win the east next year.

Cransick answered some questions from fans over the weekend one where he thought some FA would go. Interesting that he felt that JD Martinez would end up in Boston, at a deal right around 120 mil.
And I agree, I really hope the Yanks don't pursue Otani. Id be shocked if Steinbrenner and Cashman ok'd his request of pitching every 5 days, and playing the OF the other 4 days. Too much money at risk for something like that. Personally, that's why I think he'll end up staying in Japan.

I would rather have Stanton than JD Martinez but would be stoked with either. Marlins still owe Stanton 290 million or something ridiculous so only so many teams will bite that bullet. Giants can absord it but not sure we see St louis like some of the experts are predicting.
I see the Sox are looking at Logan Morrison and while he's better than nothing, he's not someone to get excited over. Everyone and their mother hit HRs this season so I want a legit bat like Martinez or Stanton.

Martinez could be a top 5 player if he played more then 135 games a year. Carlos Santana declined his QO. He would be a nice fit in Boston too.
I'm interested to see what the Marlins are going to ask in return for Stanton. My guess would be 3-5 top level prospects, and eating all of the rest of whats left on that deal. Which isn't bad if you ask me. He still has what, like 7 years on it? lol
