Speaking #34 in the other thread.. How 'bout them Bucks? I'm bias, but if you get a chance to watch some games for the first time it is an exciting group. I can't believe are good (and still extremely raw) Thon Maker is. He isn't playing a ton of minutes, and its not just his physical attributes. He makes one or two slick passes per game and get hit the 3 ball. Brogdan has been a solid rookie. I haven't even mentioned Middleton yet. All of the guys are under contract for a while yet too. They are good enough to threaten any team in the East. I still think it'll be a fight to get past the Raps but it is a nightmare matchup for Toronto. I think the Cavs will be able to old man them in a long series. LBJ will put too much pressure on their D and young guys will get in foul trouble vs LBJ and stripes.
Playoff Pump Up.
Go Bucks Go Spurs Go Thunder to win a couple to give us more of Westbrook and Hardin on the court together Go Westbrook automatically advances to the next round on the lowest seeded team remaining

Spurs are one of the only teams, ever, in any sport, since I was a child, that have legitimated won me over as a fan because of the quality of their system and the character of their team. Seeing them dispatch the Rockets like that was impressive as hell.

This was a good thing. Warriors would have swept the Rockets, but the Spurs can keep this interesting. I think it goes 6.

I'd like to see the Spurs upset the Warriors and go ALL the way, because I'd make more money on my futures bet than I would on Golden State. But I don't think they can do it without Parker.
A Boston-San Antonio final would be sweeeet.

Spurs look like the better team, honestly. Leonard stays on the floor Spurs win game one by 15 pts.

Maybe, but I think part of what you saw in game one was a lot of rust from GS. I think you'll see it from Cleveland tonight, too. Plus a guy like Pop puts A LOT into having his team try to steal game 1 when they are on the road.
San Antonio was like 8-1 without Leonard this year.

Spurs are dead in the water now. Losing Leonard, the 2nd best player in the league IMO, was a death blow. I mean I get that they're 8-1 without him, but they should be able to beat most teams like that, because of how good and deep they are. It's different when you're trying to win a playoff seriers against the Warriors. Even if he returns, he will be slowed and on the verge of reinjuring that ankle. Which Patulia or Green will be happy to try and help accommodate
Cavs will take the C's in 5. They will start slow tonight, then run right over Boston in the 2nd half for a comeback win. They will take the next two and then slouch a bit in game four, which will be the only one the Celtics get, before going out in game 5.
And then it will be a Cavs/Warriors rematch with the Cavs taking it again, in 6. Bet the house

And since I brought it up, as far as Leonard being 2nd best. For the fun of it, what's your current top 10? Mine would go something like....
James Leonard Westbrook Curry Harden Davis George Wall Durant Townes

There may not have been an NBA finals I've cared less about in the past 10-15 years. Zero drama. Predictable. Two dominant teams breezing through series. Yeesh.

Why would anyone stay on any team not named Cavs or Warriors? What's the point? Sweeping the playoffs? Jesus. Have you no shame? Bird and Magic should have just teamed up. Why have a rivalry and come back and beat the guys you had down 3-1 with hard work? Just join 'em. Get that easy ring.

The playoffs were horrible, but the finals should be awesome. I'm not sure where you're getting that from. Lots of drama. Draymond Green way back in November: "And they get there, I want to completely destroy them. No ifs, ands or buts about it. That won't change. I'm not saying we're going to look forward to that. Like I said, there's a long road ahead. And it'll be a tough, tough road to get there. Nonetheless, if we get there, and they get there, I want to destroy them. Really ain't no other way to put it." Lebron sort of gets to make or break his legacy here. A loss is devastating, but a win is huge. I agree it sucks that they both had it so easy to get there, but this matchup should be fun Fun fact: The Cavs had the highest 3 point shooting percentage in the league this year, AND lead the league in 3 pointers made. They're a different team than they were last year, as is GS. I'm also interested in seeing if Durant wilts under the pressure of being a 3-1 favorite. Is Steve Kerr going to be able to coach?

If you were trying to convince me that this doesn't blow goats, you just blew a goat.
And future reference, anytime you quote a nut-shot artist as a "plus" for your argument about why I should care about a sporting event, you have also just blown a goat.
I want the Cavs to win so I can mercilessly mock Durant, and that's the full extend of my ability to care about basketball in 2017. Near meaningless season, near pointless playoffs, rematch of the East and West all star teams, just fucking shoot me.

I like KD, I hate his move this year, but I know that I will probably like him again at some point. I've kind of been through this with LBJ already. One man wrecking crew LBJ was great. South Beach LBJ was a dink, loved with the Mavs beat them, loved when the Spurs beat them. I even liked GSW when Dray was just a hard working rookie and Steph was fun loving and free playing. They ended up beating the Cavs, that was great. However LBJ was a one man MERC crew in that series without Love and Irving. LBJ also has moved into old man status, where I have nostalgic feelings for oldies. Now we have tough-guy-beardo Curry, whiney-cheap-shot-bitch Draymon, and KD serving his turncoat suspension. Lets go Cavs.

Correct. I'll check scores, but I'm not sitting down for 3 hrs and watching the All Star Game as a Series with a bunch of defectors and nut-shot artists.

Just think about Khawi Leonard and the Spurs having GSW down 20+ in the second half of Game 1. Khawi is pretty good. Spurs had a chance to beat GSW in the series, at the very least, they could have given them a battle which might have given the Cavs a bit more of a shot. We'll see in Game 3 I guess.

Golden State ruined the NBA, exhibit A: this thread.
Nobody . . . on planet Earth . . . gives a single, solitary fuck about the finals or the championship, because it's been a foregone conclusion for a solid year now. They came one game away from sweeping . . . the ENTIRE post season. Fuck. What's the point?
KD: get fucked.
GS: fuck off.
NBA: it's been real.

Here's KD saying OKC was never a contender when he was on the team, so he never paid much attention to the finals. The motherfucker went to the finals just 4 years ago and came ONE game away (up 3-1 over 73-win GS) from going AGAIN last year. Snake in the fucking grass. One of the most beloved figures in Oklahoma sports history just turning full blown WWE heel. www.bigplay.com/video-kevin-durant-throws-shade-at-thunder-with-ridiculous-comment/

The best pure scorer in a decade joins the winningest team in NBA history and makes the entire post season into a formality WHILE throwing shade at his former city?
Salty as fuck. Yes.

I said it the night GS won, and I'll say it here. I had no real dog in the fight in regards to KD leaving. I didn't like it, I didn't hate it. It was kinda "meh, that's what the NBA is now." Let me get the obligatory "he played awesome in the finals and deserves the finals MVP award" out of the way. That being said, when I saw him standing there with the trophy, all I could think was that this felt a little like The Million Dollar Man buying the WWF belt from Andre the Giant. In my eys, and without pre-bias, it still felt like one of the most hollow championships of all time. I hope he enjoys it, because it had "gravy train" written all over it. And so will the next 2 or 3 that they win. As to nobody caring about the finals, the numbers say otherwise: variety.com/2017/tv/news/tv-ratings-nba-finals-1202464230/I don't disagree that this is really bad long-term for the NBA. But in the short term, the only thing that really hurt them was that the finals didn't get an extra two games. People were watching though, the most since the Jordan era.

Agree with all that. And, I fully believe I have the ability to separate my personal resentment from my analysis of the overall situation. Having 5-6 teams with a legit shot at getting hot and winning a title vs having a clear, head-and-shoulders favorite where the 2nd best team in the world can only push you to 5 games, is catastrophic for the competitive interest in the league, the drama, the small market enthusiasm, and the overall health of the sport long term. People may tune-in for the coronation of the modern super team but what about year 2, 3 . . . Finest ring money can buy.

Something we were discussing at work:
is ANY team capable of making moves in free agency to compete with Golden State? Even if Boston gets Paul George and Hayword, could they win more than one game in the NBA finals? Golden State is absolutely insane and may crush for 2-3 more years. A dynasty when its tough to create a dynasty.

Chris Paul to the Rockets?? How does that make sense? Harden touched the ball more than anyone in the NBA last year. Strange fit.
