Hilly 8 miler on Sunday. The training schedule doesn't call for it but I think I'll do a test 10 next weekend then taper down for the 10 miler on 10/1.

Started running last week. Every Tuesdays and Thursdays. I did 6 kilometers in 34 minutes. I'm gonna build from there. We're going to do hill sprints tonight. I persuaded the running group that sprints are awesome.

That is a pretty good starting point. Runners should love sprints.
9 mile run Sunday was kind of rough the last mile. Old joints starting to grind. I think I'll be fine for 10 mile event, but I'm starting to think I'm not interested in 1/2 marathons or full marathons. I need a little break after this.

I just did a 9 miler today that was off in Bfe on a trail was alot of fun, Ive been running mostly flat surfaces today so those hills sent me down to almost a 9 min/mile pace it felt good to do but mentally i was like fuck sake this is slow.

I do a bit, but not enough. I am looking at doing some trail running events though. I have seen 10K's and 10 milers. I look at the previous year's finishing times and you can tell it adds on. I ran on a mountain bike trail through the woods once too, pretty cool, and almost actually got lost. Like 30 minutes lost, not real lost. It was enough to concern me a little bit because I was getting tired, 30 min add on jog ok. In any case, I'm lazying into this 10 mile deal on Sunday. After this though I'm going to keep it to 3-4 mile runs during the week, 5-8 on weekends but with more searching for trails than sidewalks. Its always tempting to just bang it out on streets/sidewalks right outside your door though.

I did a 5 mile run last night. Took me 49 mins to finish. I will try to increase distance tomorrow.

I did a 5 mile run last night. Took me 49 mins to finish. I will try to increase distance tomorrow. It is tempting to want to increase distances quickly but i would show restraint dude. Try to get faster rather then increasing distance. An adult male should run 30 to no more then 45 minutes, after 45 minutes you are burning Muscle and greatly depleting you Testosterone. The lower t levels bring a shit ton of problems which i'm not gonna list have to get going here pretty quick but google it. i would only run over 45 minutes if you are training for something specific IE a distance that you could not be reasonably expected to complete in under 45 minutes. I do an occasional long run but def do not make a habit out of long distances. your joints will thank you as well if you limit the duration.

I almost said the exact same thing to my co-workers/runners. Not the testosterone levels, though. Just the diminishing returns of running further than 15 km/10 miles. It doesn't help me in grappling and I'm just pounding my knees needlessly. When I said adding distance, I meant maxing out at 10 km./6.5 miles.

Did my 10 Mile even Sunday. I hadn't run the previous 2 weeks due to some heel issues. Cold, and pouring rain for the first 3 miles. It didn't feel great especially miles 6-8 (uphill). Wrapped it up at about a 9:40/mile pace. That was about all I had in me. Only mishap was keys falling out of my pocket about 400M from finish line. Lady alerted me, slightly harrowing working your way backward at that point.
I can't say that I'm looking to move on to marathons. For me, 10 miles is a pretty good bodily pounding.

Update: 4 week jogging break, not recommended. Felt pretty slow and shitty on a couple of miles. I do also have a cold and a nagging heal injury. If you take a break, do some extreme elliptical work or at least something else (not rocket surgery I know).
Pump it up.

I don't think I'd really care to go beyond 10 miles at a time. That's my current max, and I feel no need to do a half marathon or a marathon. Eventually I may go beyond 10, but for now, I'm focusing on getting one long run in per week and some decent short to medium runs in the other days.

Update, no update.
Not real concerned yet, but I think I need to start running again. I can still feel soreness in my heel, but it has improved exponentially. I just think that this might be about as good as it is going to get.
