Week Four:
Clemson throttled Georgia Tech last night. Clemson making a statement this year. USC @ Utah today. Dece.
Saturday Showcase: Georgia @ Ole Miss is solid Wiscy @ Mich State is fantastic Florida @ Tenn is solid Penn St @ Michigan is solid LSU @ Auburn is solid OKST @ Baylor is interesting to me Stanford @ UCLA is solid Arkansas @ Texas A&M is fantastic
Overall, yes, a "solid" weekend. Kind of spoiled from the monster match-ups from weeks 1 and 3. Settling into conference play here and we'll start to see some big names tested on a regular basis. Looking to see if Ole Miss can put a complete game together. Also got a couple teams lurking in/around the top 10 (Wash, Wiscy) that I need to see more from. OKST @ Baylor may tell us if the Big 12 has any viable path left to a top 4-8 ranking.
Picks are bolded.

Should be some fine games.
Miss should have enough of a lead by 3rd qtr that their painful lack of running game won't bite them in the ass. Rebs
MSU over wiscy. Should be a really fun physical game to watch. BIg 10 speed kills, baby.
Still not backing Tennessee up until they show something. Florida d has looked great, but untested. I also say gators in a tight one.
UM rolls easily over psu. Franklin again reminds us of scholarship limitations post game.
Baylor puts on a clinic.
Uncle les beats malzhon in the job search.com bowl.
I think ucla is good on D this season and think they can upset Stanford.
Ark should wear down txam late and edge them. Txam playing better d this year than last two, but still falls short.

Georgia @ Ole Miss - I think Ole Miss beats them by 3 TDs or more. Georgia is one of the most overrated of an overrated SEC Wiscy @ Mich State - Michigan State may have a let down after beating ND but I see a low scoring MSU win Florida @ Tenn - Tennessee has a long winning streak but they don't look good. Tough call but I will take Tennessee Penn St @ Michigan - Michigan smokes Penn State by 3 TDs or more LSU @ Auburn - not a fan of LSU as they get too much early season respect. Auburn beats them. OKST @ Baylor - someone wins 45-41 and I will give the nod to the home Bears. Stanford @ UCLA - Stanford owns UCLA and I am going to this game. Stanford wins. Arkansas @ Texas A&M - A&M
Louisville @ Marshall. Louisville may be looking ahead at Clemson next week. Trap game? Might be a close game as Marshall has been historically great at home (though they lost to Akron last week).
I'm also looking forward to Air Force playing at Utah State. I'm a fan of the mountain West and these are both conference contenders.
Cal at Arizona State should be a fun shootout.

Uhm Georgia is the #12 team in the nation they say? Really? Just another example of the extreme bias in rankings to throw SEC teams a bone. They start off 18th and move up 9 spots because they beat North Carolina? Jesus. Then they have their home win over the Nicholls Colonels by 2 points. Yes, the Nicholls Colonels and no, I have never heard of them either. Then they have a comeback win over Mizzou last week to win by 1, scoring the go ahead TD with a minute to play. They play a legit team in Ole Miss and get blasted out of their mind like they don't even belong in DIV 1 football.
I see these smaller conference teams in the Mountain West that would beat Georgia but need 4 to 5 wins before being considered for top 20.

Georgia gets the free head start every damn year.
Some great games and upsets today.
Notre Dame looking suspect. Seeing the Cal game, makes me re-evaluate what I think I saw with Texas.
Tenn is over-rated.
Mich St looked awful.
Crazy Saturday.

They will finish it. It will just be real late.
The storm is past them now. I'm about an hour and a half away from Baylor and the storm is passing me now.

Insane ending to LSU/Auburn.
Baylor vs OKST looking sloppy on both accounts. Baylor retained some nice skill players but the depth and experience they lost at head coach, o-line, etc is showing. OKST is a shjt show with a punchers chance. Let's just call it what it is.
Arkansas looking formidable.

Interesting turn of events. OKST establishes a run game, tightens up on D, game tied after OKST misses a FG to go up by 3. Baylor looking very beatable. Good for OKST, bad for the Big 12.
Getting a TD off a deflection that a 2nd receiver catches in stride is not something that you can rely on moving forward.
Teams have two fumbles each in the 1st half. Nobody really controlling the contest.

Turning into a bit of a game here. Now 28-21 Baylor after a long TD strike on a beautiful stop-and-go route down the sideline. Teams look evenly matched, surprisingly. Baylor unable to run the ball, OKST unable to pass, both wildly uncharacteristic statements.
Stanford about to lose to unranked UCLA with just a minute to go.

Some spectacular endings today. Tenn with a massive comeback. LSU lost then won then lost again. Stanford pulls one out with a threaded needle and :30 sec on the clock.
OKST and Baylor are going blow-for-blow here. 4 pt game in the 4th quarter, OKST deep in the red zone threatening to take the lead.

OKST slightly out-playing Baylor. Had the ball inside the Baylor 5 yd line twice without any points. Turnover on downs then a fumble on the goal line. OUCH!!!! Still down by 4 with 7 min to go in 4th. Missed FG looming large now.

Savage drive. That might be ballgame. From a fumble on the 1 to a TD on the other end of the field in 2 min. Gut wrenching turn of momentum.
Christ that was hard to watch. OKST beat themselves.
Four turnovers, two inside the Baylor 3 yd line. Turnover on downs on on the Baylor 3. Fumble on the Baylor 1. Missed FG. That's between 13 and 17 points left on the field right there, and you're going to end up losing by 11.
Tough emotional loss after what was easily their best game of the year. Running was solid, defense was solid, just couldn't manage their mistakes and execute on critical downs. This hurts much more than the embarrassment with Central Mich. Showing huge improvement and doing a lot of things right and then losing on mental mistakes . . . man, that's a hard pill.

Wow, what a day. I called it wrong on Mich State and Arkansas. Okie State choked. Arkansas choked. And Mich State was outclassed yesterday. I actually thought that Wisconsin was a fluke but they proved me wrong. Standford did every thing they could to lose to no-ranked UCLA. Good day of football.
