I got out of the loop on this thread and don't have the inclination or energy to get caught up, but I will say the women's march was the most hilarious shit I've ever seen.
What right are they marching for? Please be specific.
Why is Madonna taking about her assassination fantasies in public?
Why is Ashley Judd completely off her meds, paranoid, militant whack-job ranting?
Why do liberal feminists REFUSE to address the open war on women in the islamic world?
Millions of bitter, crazed cat ladies with vagina hats and fetus props screaming in the streets like schizophrenics . . . um . . . cuz why? What the fuck is going on anymore? Did I miss something? Did Trump do something? Is anything being proposed? Has an egregious wrong been committed? The right has some major, substantial issues philosophically, but the left has ceased to even fucking make sense anymore. Good fucking god.
Have you learned nothing? This lunacy, the lynching of bakeries who decline gay cake business, the BLM blocking streets, the safe space snowflakes unable to cope with reality, the delusional gender identity mania, the public tantrums and meltdowns and ravings of madness . . . this is precisely the shit that comprised the cinder box which allowed Trump to catch fire.
You have over played your hand and caused a clear, clear backlash, not only in the presidency, but the senate, house, and in state governance. It's catastrophic.
So . . . so you double down with a losing hand. You KEEP crying wolf when the cavalry has quit responding. You're in a deep hole and your strategy is to dig faster. Literal LOL. You mock his 10 yr old kid and call him a school shooter. You berate his wife with the kind of seething vitriol I've not seen since the Bush days. Just brimming over with a potent, unchecked hatred that is palpable. Jesus.
But yes, let's compromise. Let's work together. Give me a fucking break.
You have revealed yourself.
Tell me, oh wise ones, how do people who simply want to be left alone compromise with militant social justice fascists? What does that middle ground look like, exactly? I'm only mostly controlled by your crazed, bent reasoning? I'm only a slave to your self-loathing dictatorship on weekdays? How does Mao compromise with Thoreau? Or am I not supposed to recognize a trap when I see it?

I thought it was for abortions? Think that one out for a moment.
My favorite sign...I'll post a pic when I see one...was "if I were a gun would I get my rights?"
Guns? Regulation, 10 day waiting period, have to be locked in a trunk, stored away in a locked container....hell...maybe she is on to something lol.

Specifically why are you marching? What outcome, right, policy do you want to see changed? The gun argument is absurd. I love it. You're exactly right. Clearly they've never tried to buy or sell a gun, get a silencer, a dealer's permit, a large caliber, carry on a military base, school, voting booth, federal building, etc. It's a fucking mine field of background checks, permits, registrations, waiting periods, and announcing and justifying your side arm during every LEO encounter for the rest of your life. It's MUCH easier to pull a viable life out of your womb and put it in the trash than it is to buy and carry a Glock, you fucking cat nip junkie. I'll make you a deal: when Trump takes away any woman's right that doesn't involve ending a viable life or siphoning money out of my paycheck without my consent (I thought consent was a big deal) I will personally challenge Trump to a fist fight and I will rant and rave about it to the high heaves and do everything in my power to raise and organize opposition tirelessly.

U don't like how Trump is bullying companies to stay. Threatening to pull federal contracts etc. From what I read (very little), he cannot actually pull the contracts but the threat of losing 10% of your revenue the next time you have a contract is a pretty convincing one. Not a fan of that. I read he intends to alter contracting rules to include some form of an "America First" clause to allow priority for those who make products in the US or don't outsource on other contracts. Contracting rules are already extremely convoluted and we give preference to "minority owned", "woman owned", etc, so I don't see the problem. If you are a company competing to sell the Navy uniforms then every company competing for it would see in the solicitation that WHERE the uniforms are made will be a priority. They don't have to make them in the US, but it will increase their chances of winning the award. That's not bullying - it's changing the rules and everyone will have to play by them. When you threaten to pull contracts or say when said contracts are being renewed you will not be considered for it if you send 2,000 jobs over seas. That is bullying. Not sure how you can see it isn't. Plus it isn't a good long term strategy, Trump can't go to every major manufacturer and work out these deals nor should he.

You are misinterpreting what occured, and Trump had zero power to do anything to Carrier at the point where he met wit them. And, why isn't it a good long term strategy to make keeping things domestic a part of government procurement rules? It would be a factor, not an end all, just like veteran's preference and every other preference factor. He doesn't need to do it for any individual company nor negotiate with individual companies; procurement rules are published on the GSA website and would apply across the board to every single participant - it's the exact opposite of bullying. The media attacking him wants to point out how it impacts one company, but his changes would be for all. NAFTA was not a success. In theory, it was supposed to be an economic boon but in reality it hasn't been. Theory vs reality in arguing economics is circular, so I am going to focus my evaluation of his presidency on reality. I have no problem with adding rules to procurement contract laws that allow priority preference for companies that manufacture domestic. We do need jobs right now, and the vast majority of the country will support it.

Exactly, it's fucking legal. And unless I missed something I haven't seen Trump come out and say anything(?) about abortions. I'm assuming here, but I have a feeling he may have paid for some himself in his time. Just an assumption. Legit LOL. But likely true. Here's what I've heard Trump say out of his own mouth: Abortion is legal, but late term or partial birth abortion is barbaric. I agree and so do most Americans. Once the life is viable outside the womb, don't rip the baby into pieces and throw it in the trash and make people who find that abhorrent pay for it. Is that unfair? Gay marriage is settled and we need to move on (referring to the SCOTUS decision in 2014 I believe). He's been openly friendly to gays and made zero mention of anything anti LBGTQRSTUV* Repeatedly mentioned doing things specifically for inner cities and the black community, like getting companies to come back to Detroit, working on school choice, etc. He's also repeatedly talked about drawing down the military role and footprint. So, reconcile this with what's going around. It's 180-degrees polar opposite. Trump hates women (women run his campaign, his companies, his top cabinet positions). Trump hates gays (been pro gay marriage since waaaaay before Obama or Hitlary, said the matter is settled). Trump hates blacks (hires hundreds of blacks, appoints to cabinet positions, outlines programs for minority communities). Trump will start WW3 (wants to deescalate and withdraw, let Europe do it's own dirty work, quit dick measuring with Russia). Also worth noting, in light of this women's march, that MILLIONS of women voted for Trump. Nearly half of all women (46 %) and a big majority of white women. LOTS of women find late term abortion unethical, don't want to force others to pay for their contraceptives, have the Google wherewithal to dispel the pay gap myth, and aren't prone to crazed street tantrums in service of the authoritarian social justice state. Unless someone has a crystal ball that I haven't seen, this sounds like pure paranoia based on . . . like . . . the opposite of his stated positions. I'm lost. There are legit openings for serious critique of Trump, I've outlined many of my concerns here, but nobody is hitting them. It's this fabricated, paranoid nonsense. Same shit happens when cops kill some black dude. There are serious issue with the role, conduct, and accountability of police, but Michael Brown ain't it. The left is just fucking . . . bumbling these days. Part of this tone deaf bumbling is why states that have gone blue for 8 or 12 years now, some even longer, went red in 2016. Over 200 counties that went for Obama went for Trump. You're misreading the terrain, guys. Transquestioning bathrooms is not the play here. The "free" healthcare thing was a debacle. We've been at war for 16 fucking years. College is a quarter million dollar undertaking and public education is a goddamned joke. Get your fucking playbook updated, folks. This isn't rocket surgery. Jesus.

The closest he's come to saying he wants to make it illegal is that his supreme court picks will be judges that will overturn Roe v Wade. Now granted that doesn't make it illegal, just leaves it up to the states. But the slippery slope of it all, it about more than just abortion, it basically a structure of personal rights over our body.

They feel that their line (media, hollywood, education, international conspiracy in general) is stronger than ours (real people with lives and jobs). They know that our defense will eventually crumble. 1 year from now, a "hidden Figures" type of bullshit movie starring Ashley Judd will cast this woman's protest as a noble and sacred event. And we'll buy it. Don't believe me? Check your own opinion on the "struggle for civil rights" and MLK for an example of how it works One weapon on the side of the truth is citizens with cell phone cameras, but I still don't think that it is enough. Youtube is figuring ways to censor conservatives. They already reserve the right to demonetize anyone who they deem "hateful." They wont strike against established truth tellers like Stefan Molineaux (The world's foremost historian), not yet, but every Molineaux not yet established with a following are suffocated in their cribs

I was not under the impression that Roe v Wade had anything to do with bodily autonomy whatsoever, but whether or not bodily autonomy exists in utero.

I was not under the impression that Roe v Wade had anything to do with bodily autonomy whatsoever, but whether or not bodily autonomy exists in utero. Framework was put in place for when bodily autonomy exists in-utero (which has changed a few times since), but at its core it was a right to privacy ruling saying was that the 14th amendment applies personal privacy to your body (not just for women) and protects it from state action. With Roe V. Wade overturned, there is nothing actively preventing states (or congress) from passing laws allowing the government to say seize an organ for transplantation to a politician. Or say having a state pass a law that forces sterilization of anyone named John that passes through/lives in their state. edit: This is also why I think Trump is lying about who he'd put on the Supreme Court. He's not an idiot, and probably knows a Roe V Wade reversal could directly backfire against him and his friends by vindictive politicians.

I'm not following.
Having a discussion over the ethics of stopping a beating heart in utero and the leap to a government agency harvesting your organs without consent makes me feel like I'm about-to-vomit drunk and someone's explaining physics to me.
In other news, one of my liberal buddies just told me he's nervous Trump is going to start a war.
Have you been in a fucking coma for 8 years, bruh? Nice little vacation from your governing worldview? Ethics sabbatical? You fucking jackass. We are AT WAR. We are lying and spying and running guns a lot of the dudes Bush put in GitMo are still there. Welcome back to the party. Convenient timing.

We are lying and spying and running guns a lot of the dudes Bush put in GitMo are still there. Welcome back to the party. Convenient timing. Okay, Roe v Wade forced the legalization of Abortion as a side effect to the core ruling, which was that state action cannot be taken against the physical body without permission. It basically defined the due process clause acknowledging your right to privacy applies to your physical body. Overturning Roe V Wade means we don't have any standing precedent that says we own our own bodies. Now if overturned, would all of a sudden we have forced organ harvesting for certain classes, or things like that? Very unlikely, but you really think there aren't gonna be small towns of idiots that wind up passing some crazy shit like all people of colour must be sterilized, or forced abortions for Caucasians, or Catholics must have a crown of thorns tattooed on their skull. People are fucking nuts, the founding fathers knew that hence the system of checks and balances. Roe v Wade is one of those checks, and the only part related to abortion was a bit of a balance where it did spell out framework for life viability to the point that you lose your right to privacy. I think Trump's strongest point is he's likely to be the most anti-war President we've had. That will wind up saving us a ton of money, and making us a much safer country.

www.guttmacher.org/state-policy/explore/bans-specific-abortion-methods-used-after-first-trimesterGUTTMACHER INSTITUTEMENUDONATE NOW AS OF JANUARY 1, 2017 STATE LAWS AND POLICIES Bans on Specific Abortion Methods Used After the First Trimester Background For decades, states have attempted to limit access to abortion after the first trimester by enacting restrictions on specific abortion methods. In the 1990s and early 2000s, most of the attention focused on attempts to ban “partial-birth” abortion. Although they used varying definitions of “partial-birth” abortion, the laws all banned the procedure except in the rarest circumstances. Many, but not all, of these state-level restrictions were struck down in courts. However, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a federal version in 2007 in Gonzales v. Carhart. That law, which applies across the country, bans “partial-birth” abortion except when the woman’s life is endangered and does not contain an exception to protect the woman’s health. Moreover, although the law does not include a precise medical definition of what is banned, the Court found the federal law’s definition sufficient to pass constitutional muster and applied it to the dilation and extraction (D&X) abortion method. The federal law is currently in effect, along with several state laws that allow for state and local law enforcement of the method ban and, potentially, stiffer penalties for violations.

If they're really in that bad of shape, and he needs them to beat the street in order to find a job, it sounds kind of like a win win. A pretty shitty one for him, but a win nonetheless. His whole life could depend on it... Look, walking 12+ miles a day when you are flat footed wears down shoes. I replaced them when I could but I was working at CostCo for over a month with a hole in the bottom of my shoe (and foot wrapped in gauze because it resulted in me irritating the area enough to bleed through my sock to the point I faked dropping hot sauce from my lunch to cover it up once). My shoes are fine now though because the only places in the area at this point that aren't online-only applications are 90 day holds and under 2 miles. Beating me up (if he succeeds at that) doesn't find me a job. Maybe if he ran for office and pushed policy that caused physical job creation, or eliminated biased hiring (which I'm actually against eliminating though it would work in my favour), then yeah that would get me a job. And for the thousandth time.... Location is what is preventing me from getting a viable job. www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/01/blue-red-state-democrats-trump-country-214647Lol. Legit lol. Just got done reading an article about how women across the country don't consider Trump a legitimate president because he only received about 46.5% of the popular vote. Did about 2 minutes of research... Bill Clinton received 43% in 1996.
Also in the article a woman was quoted as saying "if I don't get free birth control once planned parenthood is de-funded, who knows how many children I will end up with". After reading this I just kind of stared at a blank wall for a while, part of me thinking our country is fucked and part of thinking these people will be the first to die if we hit real bad times.

Abortion will never be illegal federally in this country. A woman will always be able to legally get an abortion regardless of the supreme court picks.
I am all for abortion. I don't want my taxes to keep going up, so lets not decide that the taxpayers are on the hook for supporting kids who's parents have no ability to support them on their own.

Agreed, which is why I think Trump is lying about his Supreme Court picks. His daughter would probably pull a Luke Skywalker if he tried to actually make them illegal. Democrats and most Liberals are dumbfounded Trump got elected based on the kind of person he is. What they should do is realize that if they didn't have blind party loyalty, Hillary wouldn't have been nominated much less even run in the primaries. If they didn't have blind party loyalty, Trump wouldn't have won. We would have 8 years of Tulsi Gabbard, and 4-6 years of a Democrat majority in Congress. But, they wanted to believe what was being spoon fed to them rather than looking at the options.

What's up with Trump's actions on the individual mandate? He basically said the HHS director can stop it, but didn't order him to, why not?
