My first time in Clearwater was in January. A little too cold for a swim, but much better than KC, which I traveled from.
The Ozarks are fun. Especially with a boat. I'm pretty sure you went to party cove a time or two....

I mostly do Roadtrips because of my work schedule. Here's a few from my last trip through big sur on highway 1. Carmel is expensive but I plan on retiring there as long as California is still good in 25 years. Carmel is damn nice... I have eaten some of the best food in my life in Carmel, and given my wife some of the most forgettable pleasure she has ever had. Took the kids to the Monterey Aquarium last year and did the coast tour and I really enjoy the drives around there. People always ask why I chose to live in a place that is so extremely expensive, and a picture or two like this is all it takes to show them how fucking awesome California is (aside from the liberal fucks).

The aquarium is awesome. It's built right into the bay. My dad would take me there back in the 80's, and I still go from time to time. Politics aside, California's the best place in the world to live. Topographicly, nothing beats it... then add the weather, which is mild all year. Beaches, mountains, desert, skiing, surfing you name it, anything you want is just a short drive away. And that norcal triangle with Carmel, Monterey and Santa Cruz all within a short highway drive of each other, perfect Roadtrip destination. However the taxes and housing market can be crippling for some. Ive seen a bunch of friends who grew up in Ca move to Texas recently. But, I live in LA so I'm used to the high prices. Moving to Carmel in 25 years and paying a little extra for a smaller house with a beach view is well worth the money, in my opinion... Carmel Beach. My retirement idea is to wake up and see this every morning.

Agreed about Carmel. So beautiful and some of those homes have some amazing architecture. My girl and I have talked about settling down there when we get old and gray.
Housing market in LA is pretty crazy. It's getting insanely high and it's not like rent will ever drop any. At this point on, you have to make some decent coin to live here. And when you've been here all of your life, and have made a little nest for yourself, it's hard to want to give up that foothold.

You're last sentence is spot on. For years I've been trying to figure a way to somehow not give up what I have, continue to build on it...and not have to live here for most of the year. I know this feeling, although for 2 reasons I can never see myself living anywhere else for more than a month out of the year. I would love to spend 4 months a year in Hawaii, 6 months in Norcal and 2 months in some state like Montana, Colorado, Idaho or Wyoming. Yes, it is crazy expensive here... but there is so much income potential here that I feel it is worth it at this point in my life.

Wife won a trip to a Phoenix resort through work called the Biltmore. I don't get to go to the Grand Canyon though which sucks but we get to ride dune buggies at least.

Just got back from Disney with the family. Kids had a blast. You would think though, for it being the happiest place on earth, they would take it easy of fucking me in the ass over prices.
Way overpriced and not worth it. will never go again.

You know that all of us phone users are basically funding your trip, right? I mean, I don't use AT&T, but their suspect practices basically increases the cost of my own provider's services, so your vacation is on my dime. Shame.

Me and my wife were on the same page. Most of the times the kids were asking when we could go back to the hotel pool. So next year, ill spend have, and take them to an all inclusive joint in the DR or mexico, and they can play in the pool all week.

Speaking of Trips, I just came back from CA on Monday. My second time out there. Had some fun, did some driving around LA, Long beach, Venice and surrounding areas. Drove a couple of hours south into the desert.
Stayed with Vale and got to meet Matt!
Good times.

Alright, So I go to Sandals in Nassau Bahamas. I booked two rooms, one for me and my wife and the other for my sister and her husband. Both rooms were the beachfront honeymoon suites with butler service.
The trip started bad, my wife had surgery on her foot 3 weeks prior. The doctor thought she would've been healed enough. He took the stiches out two days before we left. It wasn't enough time, my wife was still having a hard time walking. So the plane was delayed by 2 hours. We finally get to the Bahamas and we are picked up in a Rolls Royce and drove to the resort. The resort was about what I expected, it was nice. We get up to the room and I see the small size of it and the shitty view. I told the butler " this is it"? He said yes all this style of rooms are like this. My wife's foot was really hurting her so we just stayed in the room the 1st night and had dinner brought up. The next day we go onto the beach. The beach area was very small and of course my wife couldn't go into the water because of her foot. When she took the bandage off to replace it, the wound opened up. So she had to stay on the lounge chair and I went in the water. A few hours later my sister arrives and we walk up with them to their room. Just before the butler opened the door she said "Now don't get mad, their room is nicer". She opens the door and the room is about 200 sqft bigger and has a great view of the beach and ocean. So now I'm pissed, I don't let it show and we all go to dinner together. The next day I go into the butler supervisors office and I complain about the room differences and how I feel I'm getting ripped off. He just keeps telling me how the rooms are the same category, I then make several examples on how they aren't the same and I have a lesser room. He wasn't hearing any of it and continued to say how they are the same category. I told him he was full of shit and he would have to be stupid to not see the difference in the rooms. I asked to speak with the resort manager. So this guy comes in and basically says the same thing. I then told him he was full of shit also.
Then next day we went to Dolphin encounters in Nassau. This day was great, my sister loves dolphins so I booked the royal experience. The 1st part was with a group and we got to pet the dolphin, dance with it, got a hug, we were able to feed it and the last part you lay on your stomach and the dolphin put his nose on your feet and pushes you. That was very fun. The second part was the royal photos shoot. We go to a small lagoon and get to play with the dolphin more and get pictures taken. It was a great time and if any of you go to the Nassau Bahamas I recommend you going to Dolphin Encounters. You won't be disappointed. Oh, and yes my wife's foot was still bad and she wasn't able to do the dolphin swim with us.
Before we left for the dolphin encounters I stopped back into Mr. Tamon's (butler supervisor) and left him a note. I wanted the square footage of my room and my sisters room, I wanted the square footage of the balconies of both rooms. And I wanted the rating of the view from both rooms. When we got back I went straight to his office to get the info. He was no where to be found.
The next day we were leaving. I found Mr. Tamon and asked him for the info that I requested. He told me he couldn't give me that info, it was info he can't share with customers. I again told him he was full of shit. I asked for the general Managers name and email address. He gave me the guys business card.
Then we leave and the Rolls take us four back to the airport. To make a long story short. It took me 13 hours to get home. Planes were delayed, I missed the connecting flight. Just over all bad.
I emailed Mr. Williams (general Manager), he responded saying he wanted to speak with me over the phone on Monday. So I'll have to update you guys on how that goes.
So in short. The planes sucked, The resort was ok, My rooms sucked. Dolphin encounters was very fun.
If you go to Nassau Bahamas stay some where other then sandals.

Give em hell daywork!
Just got back from the river. My girl got her degree so we invited a bunch of her friends out for the weekend.
First off, my area was packed. Packed packed. Almost uncomfortable packed. But we made the most of it.
In an odd move, a buddy of mine invited himself last week...I said OK, he knew we were having a big party. So you can imaging the looks on our faces when him and his wife pull up and their 6 year old pops out of the car. It was a rough thing to do, but I had to send them back home. Felt like a dick, but that's not on me. We had already told him we weren't able to have kids around.
Anyone else know anyone that thinks it's OK to party in front of their kids? Hot damn that's a great way to make others feel uncomfortable.
Other than that, epic weekend. My girl and about 6 of her life long friends tore it up over the weekend.

If you already told him that you weren't going to be having kids around, than it is a much bigger dick move of him bringing his kid than you sending him home. His wife is probably really pissed at home. That bitch got a number or what?

It pissed my chick off to the point where I don't see her wanting to have them out there again while she is there. And this isn't anywhere close, it's a 4 hour drive each way, let alone the weekend traffic. We tried to accomodate them as best as we could but we were not going to be having a kid in the house while her and her friends let lose. But I guess they thought we would be cool with the kid hanging in a bedroom playing the wii...not happening. Made me really look at why I have this guy around, known him forever but....this isn't my style at all.

When it is a celebratory party for your girl he should have known better. An eight hour round-trip will have given him plenty of time to figure it out though. He probably wasn't seeing the big picture that the party was about your girl graduating and letting loose and dish realize that having a kid around would be weird. Let me know if you want me to stop by his place on my Voyage of Destruction IV.
